First of all thank you for pointing out Quasar. Just tried it and love it to the max. But got few questions:

1. Which provider i need to add in order to enjoy this apps to the fullest? Now im added yify, ka, pr and raabg. Anything else?

2. I unable to find suitable subs using Quasar so far. Unlike Exodus, I can get it pretty straight forward. Same method used. I only use subscene as my subs provider. Edited: solved. It seem Quasar also automatically added as my subs provider.

3. Why when I tried from raabg (their files usually big, bluray 1080p commonly more than 8gb, usually SPARKS), the movies will stutter? It like a lag but not due to buffering. But when I tried using other provider which usually lower files size, averaging 2-3gb (but also 1080p bluray), it played smoothly?
*
1. Those are sufficient. Having too many providers is unnecessary as most scrape the same links anyway and quasar intelligently sorts them.
2. Register an account on Open Subtitles.. Install the addon.. Configure as needed. Between Opensubs, Quasar & subscene, you should be okay.
3. The average movie Blu-ray is actually much higher. Some even around 40GB+.. So 8GB is actually still on the low side biggrin.gif.. Anyway, It appears that the device is not capable of handling such files. Typically calls for a hardware upgrade.

Hi, just started dabbing to kodi, I got Himedia q16 n when playback movie, anything above 720p will stuttering badly. 4K movie not playable at all. Movies resides in my computer but when I try using external HDD directly connected to himedia result are the same using kodi. Playback using himedia own [ build in] player is perfect even on 4K.

I use the Neo U1 and experience no such lags. Check out my mini review on Quasar performance in the KODI thread V1. Also see below..
QUOTE
One setting we definitely recommend you check is activated is located under Preferences>Playback Settings and you want to ensure this is at Level 2. The Minix firmware has built in frame rate detection so it will automatically switch to the correct output signal to suit the material. For example, most movie content is 24 (23.976) frames per second and all UK content is either 25 or 50 frames, so you want the video signal sent from the Neo U1 to match that. The default output of the U1 (and every box) is 60Hz and clearly you can’t fit 24, 25 or 50 equally in to that; so, when the U1 detects any of those frame rates, it changes its video output signal to either 24, 25 or 50Hz accordingly. If you value smooth playback of video, it’s a must-have feature and one not many Android boxes can pull of successfully.

for most current devices, i think can't do >10gb.

thats' why quasar range setting is 0-10gb.

not only the device but the speed too.

remember the maths i did?

40gb will require 100mbps and good seeds too! biggrin.gif

Here's my quote from the previous thread.. Quasar definitely can handle greater than 10GB files.. It all boils down to Internet speed, seeds : peers, device capabilities and available storage. Remember that Kodi can be run on devices with much larger & faster storages than the typical android box.. smile.gif

QUOTE(voncrane @ May 1 2016, 09:41 PM)
Network connections and health are monitored like a hawk. Try to keep it optimum at all times...  biggrin.gif

Quasar + external hard disk
*Started with a 19GB Blu-ray + DTS-HD file... Paused and allowed it to pre-download till about 6%... Hit play and it started playing smoothly for a couple of minutes till, I'm guessing, it ran out of buffered content to play, then started to stutter... Being a torrent file, the bottleneck could be the current Internet speed (10Mbps) not downloading fast enough to keep up with playback... Proving insufficient, so the result is as expected.
*Moved down to an 11GB 1080p file... Same scenario as above. Internet speed bottleneck.

Switched back to Quasar + local storage
*Played a 7GB 1080p file, left to buffer for awhile and it was able to play smoothly for about an hour, before I quit it (boring). So that worked and I believe anything lower, with enough peers will work... So, much faster internet speeds + fast storage on the Neo U1 should theoretically equal smooth playback of larger files with the Quasar addon.

Discovered media content in Quasar can be integrated directly into the KODI library... So, one is able to add TV Shows or Movies and launch directly from the library menu. This is particularly convenient for TV shows as the list of unwatched episodes are updated & show up right above the TV Shows menu...  thumbup.gif

well, if i don't have speed >100mbps and a superduper box, i will not want to count on so many variables on kodi to watch a >10gb blockbuster, high chance of being disappointed in the middle of the excitement. better do it "the other way" and playback at ease. biggrin.gif

yr question has been asked many times but since u just started using kodi, i can understand.

q16 specs, memory and native player are excellent.

the native player can handle all sorts of advanced things - 4k, hd, dtshdma, dd atmos, samba in HD, etc.

but if u use kodi and not native player for playback, it's not the same animal.

kodi inside the device cannot handle 4k and hd audio well.

this has always been the case with older generic models; q16 is 2 yrs old. may be different with other current devices that customized or partner with kodi development.

best to use native player and not kodi for playback.

i never understood why users insist on using kodi for playback when there is a far superior player available!

however, the next gen q5 pro (q10 pro too, i think) is expected to be able to handle kodi 4k, 60fps, 10bit, etc. with a media wrapper.

Thanks n sorry for noob question

Looking at kodi for movie mainly due to interface graphic. i.e artwork for movie and album whereby with built in player you just scroll the folder.

Also planning to get NAS for storing and streaming movie and if got lag/stuttering then got to rethink. I've got few 2.5 external hdd hookup to tv or himedia, playback not a problem, just need to centralize all movies with better interface.

Sadly you are right.. Have to use the "other way"... To think that TIME users are laughing every single day.. For the same RM200 TM gets every month for the VIP10 plan, one could be enjoying TIME's 300Mbps.. Under the current 10Mbps speed, a 40GB file at constant speed will take about 10 hours to complete.. The same file will only take about 20 mins on a steady 300Mbps network. That's a whopping 9 hours and 40 minutes of time, electrical usage and equipment saved.. bangwall.gif mad.gif bangwall.gif

ya, that's the only reason i have read so far.

and that reason is not good enough to give up a better player! tongue.gif

the next box i buy, it is for a superior player to do 4k 60fps, hi10p, dts:x, auto frame switching... not album artwork.

some of these capabilities require licensing, pay royalty.

free apps won't and can't have all of that.

note only some device makers pay for all of it, some will save cost, don't pay.

about the nas part, i doubt the pros use kodi, probably something native of the nas system.

the day will come... 1gb speed at reasonable cost. then it'll be time to go vpn and do everything by streaming.

actually, that already exist elsewhere. only that u will be seeding, not leeching! laugh.gif

As for Jap at avengers addon , i install the addon Vaughn.live which require but the sound is cracking and jitter not smooth.Did you notice them ?

Btw, do you know how to update the avengers addon ? was hoping to get Sgapore channel working 5,8,U.
So you didn't tried ? but do you know where to get the addon to test out ?
*
i just checked again.

avengers... the jap channels come and go. not very reliable.

sg channels... not working on avengers now but works fine on adrian supertv.

the above is typical of kodi addons - never rely on just one addon or one app for anything u really want. always have backups! biggrin.gif

euro 2016 kicks off on june 10. get prepared.

do not rely on one app or one addon for the matches in HD! tongue.gif

said many times, but never mind... biggrin.gif

.. adrian super tv
.. avengers/captain america
.. phoenix sports
.. sports devil (some say is good)
.. navi-x (keep looking, the channels/links there change by the day)
.. for those who can accept mandarin commentary: cctv5, cctv5+

euro 2016 will be carried by bbc, itv, espn, bein, cctv, astro, sbs, many others.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Euro_201...dcasting_rights

challenge is, as usual, to find the STABLE and HD ones.

I only use sports devil because of my slow line. Got many links to try, if one don't work, try another. But mostly low quality sources.

For those with fast line and looking for better quality, try elsewhere smile.gif

May I know how to access the below locations in kodi from android box? I have already enabled the hidden file setting but can't find the below to patch the 2 files:

/storage/.kodi/addons/plugin.video.kissasian/teh_tools.py
/storage/.kodi/addons/plugin.video.kissasian/ressources/lib/kissenc.py.

if u have done "show hidden files" with es file explorer, just follow the right path, u should see them.

if not there, maybe they are simply not there. u just paste what u want on the right level/folder.

patching or editing these files is not difficult but things can get screwy unless u know exactly what u r doing. biggrin.gif

Thanks again Bro, it was quite deep inside the folders but I managed to patch it.

May I know what is the best settings or your recommended cache settings to fix Video Buffering/Stuttering Issues? Currently running on Wif 30mbps. Should i just plug in the LAN cable?

The default settings is the recommended value. Manually modifying it depends on the usage & capabilities of your device, particularly available RAM. Kodi uses RAM due to it being speedier and whatever value you set, it uses x3 of it. I.e. Setting a cachemembuffersize of 100MB means Kodi will require at least 300MB of free RAM.

Yeah, Ethernet connection preferred.

Video buffering... I must have played with buffer size settings a hundred times.

Not entirely sure, but my conclusion is that does nothing meaningful. More important the device has the right hardware and codec acceleration capabilities, other than sufficient ram.

With a newer and better specs device, u will not have to mess with it anymore.

If buffering persists in such a case, it is due to bad sites, geoblocks, etc. the best box with 1gbps speed won't help.

30mbps is good. Ethernet is always better unless wifi is like 5 ft away, which is almost the same.
