I think most music schools provide opportunities to perform. When I was taking lessons from this music shop, they got me to perform some acoustic stuff (Eg. CCR stuff, Tears In Heaven, Hotel California) for a few events. Not exactly concert, but still an opportunity to perform in front of an audience.

A music school in my area do so before this...it's a charity show.....the audience is students mainly.....the venue is good.....the players play their own learnt song nicely and smoothly.....unfortunately....no electric guitar lesson given by the music school....i thought i can witness to electric guitar show....
but IMO it's a great idea which mentioned by thread starter....increase player's expressions on the stage.... |

I'll stab myself in the head if I played behind my back with the RR3..... But thanks for reminding..... will have to pull off some kick ass stage moves!!!
And to be back on topic for this thread, it's wise to be not too loose when performing in a concert or event. Many times I've seen guitarist be too stiff and concentrated, even though they can pull off a killer solo.... Remember.... they paid to be entertained..... I only hope that music schools will also teach their students to loosen up and not be too stiff....... |

Me too. That's why I'm always impressed whenever watching SRV plays the guitar behinds his back. He can play the guitar behind yet plays it so well. QUOTE(Everdying @ Jan 9 2007, 11:10 PM) hey im short too! but then again, im not saying im good. QUOTE Yaya... they should take rocking lessons from you, like throwing in tapping solos into a pop show. this is what i do for tapping in pop songs: i use 2 hand tapping(smth similiar to zack kim where right hand plays chords/bass lines while right plays melody) and play something thats easy to recognize and easy to sing along. a good reference would be listening to video game music (more of the old type games like nintendo and gameboy) and also keyboard playing. hope u get what im saying, if not i can just show u during the gathering. |
