UMW Toyota has introduced a new five-year warranty for all its models in Malaysia. Effective April 1, 2016 (no, it’s not an April Fool’s prank), the Hilux and Hiace now have a five-year/150,000 km warranty term, while all other Toyota models have a five-year, unlimited mileage coverage.
Owners of in-warranty Toyota vehicles (those with an active warranty, and have been serviced as per required by the warranty terms) registered before April 1, 2016 may purchase the additional two-year extended warranty package. A grace mileage of 10,000 km is given for cars with borderline mileage (up to 110,000 km).
Prices of the two-year extended warranty package are as follows:
Toyota Avanza – RM890 Toyota Innova – RM890 Toyota Rush – RM890 Toyota Hilux – RM1,290 Toyota Hiace – RM1,290 Toyota Vios – RM1,590 Toyota Yaris – RM1,590 Toyota Prius – RM1,590 Toyota Prius C – RM1,590 Toyota Corolla Altis – RM1,890 Toyota Fortuner – RM1,890 Toyota Camry – RM2,990 Toyota Alphard – RM5,090 Toyota Previa – RM5,090 Toyota 86 – RM5,090

QUOTE(lawrencesha @ May 2 2016, 01:00 PM) Toyota Corolla Altis – RM1,890 Change 1 aircon compressor also cost more that this already. meaning it's worth to pay for the extended warranty considering if the air compressor fails, it would be covered under warranty?

QUOTE(Thrust @ May 2 2016, 01:19 PM) Normally manufacturer will automatically revise their warranty policy from 3 to 5 years like Honda, BMW mercedes without charging customers. This is to show they have confidence in their car. UMW is definitely milking customer's money. No wonder their sales in Malaysia is dropping to an all time low.. They even lose out to Nissan last month. yeah that's why i'm trying to gather some opinions as my car warranty is going to expire in 2 months time.. so thinking if it's worth for the extension.. my guess is to continue my servicing outside

QUOTE(Thrust @ May 2 2016, 02:37 PM) Assuming you are using vios, the RM1.5k can serve as your repair fund. Since its a Toyota, it won't spoil that easily. I think best you don't extend your warranty. Thanks for the input, shall take that into consideration Btw, is it worth continuing service in authorised SC after warranty? currently there are many reliable workshops out there using the carama app..

QUOTE(Effy92 @ May 2 2016, 03:53 PM) What is carama apps? Cant find in play store. For the extended warranty, to take or not depend on your car usage also. If you drive below 20k km a year better ignore that offer and service outside once waranty finished so the extra money can spare for parts. oops my bad, it's actually a web site: http://www.carama.com/ where there is a list of workshops authorised by castrol. since they are carrying the brand, these workshops are audited for quality and there are discount vouchers from time to time too
