If you're looking for a new Macbook Air 13" and don't mind the 4gigs of RAM, buy your MBA from an authorized reseller (Machines, Harvey Norman, Maccity) etc. rather than from apple store online. Why you ask?

Price of MBA 11" at Authorized resellers - RM 3,799.00
Price of MBA 13" at Authorized resellers - RM 3,799.00

Don't ask me why 11" and 13" are the same price. Only difference for the 13" model is, the RM3799 ones come with 4 gigs of RAM compared to the RM4199 ones which are equipped with 8 gigs. So if you're in the market for entry level macbooks, this is a good time to go for it.

Get the 4GB extra RAM for RM400, that's cheap.

But right now. Apple has standardized that MBA is of a minimum of 8gigs of RAM from the base model. 3799 for a 4gig one doesn't justify its price. Look up the specs on Apple's website before buying.

I think so too. But some people who still want a mac and doesn't want to spend more than 4k on a laptop, they can still get it at a very good price.

That's correct. And hence my surprise when I walked into Machines store and saw 11" and 13" being sold at the same price. But if 4 GB of RAM is sufficient for what you want out of a laptop, then you can save RM400 by getting it from an authorized reseller.

depends on the users, for my own use, i keep my media on external drive.

not enough unless super super light use, even u can survive with 4GB ram now. it will not be future proof for the next 2 years.

The current Macbook Pro which I am using now only got 4GB but the experience still running smoothly. Using it mainly for web browsing, movie and some document for work. This unit manufactured back in 2010 and i wonder if i upgrade to El Capitan, will it get smoother?

Mac OS is optimized for usage, so long tasks are light, they can be smooth. This is subjective.

But if u run heavy tasks, 4gb ram will definitely become the bottleneck.

Upgrade should not have problem. Performance for EI Capitan is smooth.

Depends on what you wanna do. Nowadays, we stream almost all of our media (spotify, iflix, netflix, other websites). Apart from that, softwares like photoshop, final cut pro, etc. will take the most of your space. If you just use it for browsing, doc work, and stuff, 128 is enough. If you can afford 256, then go ahead with that. You never have to worry about space.

imho storing massive static media on SSD is such a waste, for storage wise I always go for external HDD, or opt for flash storage as they are dirt cheap nowadays.

There will always be people who can squeeze themselves hard for the lowest storage, same goes for ppl who picked the 16gb iPhone 6s. U can run a lot of things on portable hdd but performance will not be even comparable to running on SSD itself. 128gb again must run bootcamp. Even u claim that it is possible but it is squeezed to the limit if he is a light user. However, to most ppl, 128gb run boot camp confirmed it is a very texting thing to do. One must also note that SSD performance will drop when it is low in disk space.

But u must note that I am talking about normal people and future proof. Now u may find it sufficient, but it may not sustain in future.

Not sure bout that. But i can see in garage sales got used MBA 2015 selling 3.1k, not sure the price on mudah. Me personally waiting for the new macbook pro. But then, my 2014 MBA is underused but still hand itchy for a new mac. Lol

because i remember macbook air range 3k if i buy kinda like new one.. now overprice because of GST+ weak currency. new mac.. Lol .. i been thinking to get because last 3 laptop i bought all now got keyboard issue.. other non.. i think next time just present tablet/ipod touch and if work mac mini is enough
