could be due to VoLTE. M1 supports VoLTE. try turn off data and for voice select 2g gsm. might work.
to reverse the charges, reach out to cfm.
to avoid such charges again, remove the malaysian sim when crossing the causeway or use a 2g old school phone.

QUOTE(Fazab @ Dec 13 2016, 11:14 PM) Have same problem with Celcom Xpax. Got charged ~RM50 when data is OFF. Celcom refuse to entertain, so will complain to CFM. Anybody has a good solution to prevent this happening? Travelling soon, and dreading it... put your celcom card into an old school 2g phone. get a local sim for your smartphone.

QUOTE(JuneResources @ Dec 14 2016, 09:18 AM) I heard from Singapore telco effective April 2017 onwards, they will shut down ALL 2G network in Singapore. In simple, even you bring your old school 2G phone to Singapore, you can't receive incoming normal message in the future time. too bad then. pay celcom then
