Hey there,

Please help me. Everytime i test for my connection, it fails at the wireless network test. And i dont know what to do next. If anyone knows how to fix this problem, i'd be glad cause i've been trying to fix this thing for days with no luck.

Thanks in advance.

normal settings for your router... if you're not getting an IP check your DHCP settings.. isit locked with a access key? try disabling it.. try disconnecting all devices and just access using the 360 only.. maybe ip conflict..

Brand = TP-link

Model = WR542G

By the way, my router is in the 1st floor and my 360 is in my room ( G-floor ). This i believe is not the problem, cause the 360 senses the signal.

^ ur router, u check if DHCP is enabled.. if still the same issue.. u manually assign the IP n gateway on ur X360,
If you do so the the settings ought to be as below
Ur gateway should be 192.168.1.1 (ur router)
ur ip add should be 192.168.1.x (x depends on what range does ur router assign as DHCP IP addresses.)

Did that. But still it doesnt work. Could it probably be that my router is not xbox-live compatible??? My psp works well with my router's setting.

either try manually assign an ip to ur xbox, or use ur xbox mac addr n set an ip to it at ur router.
n also put these into ur xbox dns servers: 202.188.0.133 202.188.1.5 last time i didnt put dns, i cant connect.

Errr.. what mode does the wireless adapter support again? A, B, and G? Or? I don't know cause I don't have one.

Worse case scenario first, try setting your router to operate in B mode first and see if anything happens. I'm guessing the reason the Link light isn't on is because, well you don't have a connection to the router mar.

I tried using my psp to connect to the router, and everything works great. Iam connected to the internet. But not with the Xbox 360, yes, iam using g mode. I'll try to change to b and see if anything happens.

Try changing the Wireless channel. Also are you using any WEP or passwords? Because if you are using WEP, you must enter the passcode in the encrypted format to the Xbox 360. So say you use 64-bit encryption for the word "gears". Then you have to enter the 64-bit format into your Xbox 360 - ie. NOT the word "gears"

maybe ur house got some mystical beings, screwing up ur wifi signals.
anyway, did u do some thorough checks? i mean.. ok at ur uncle's place i assume u use his wifi router, maybe his network is using 192.168.1.x for the ips, while urs is 10.0.0.x. maybe u can do the "test my connection for live" again. then do some port forwarding for ur xbox, for that, check www.portforward.com. or if ur lazy, just put ur xbox's static ip into the DMZ (for this, just assign ur xbox's mac addr to a static ip).
if these don't work, then i can hang my trousers, n wave my white undies tied up to a pole.

I think what marauderz said is crucial. Have you tried it?

Now problem is your xb360 can't detect any signal. Otherwise, try bringing back the wireless adapter and test, see whether it works.

Heres summore links for troubleshooting the adapter: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/907602
U said u got red indication right?
• Steady red light: The adapter is ready to be connected to a wireless network.
• Flashing red light: The adapter is experiencing a hardware failure.

PJ & Marauderz: it supports a,b & g

Red Light on the link indicator ( Under Network Settings after u connect to a SSID ). Not on the MS wireless adapter . I tried everything from DMZ, upnp enabled and etc. No luck. Even port forwarding. When i test with wired connection, everything was fine and even the NAT was open.
I even download some stuff from Marketplace and kicked somebody's ass in FIFA 07.

Anyone that can help me, i give them free 1600 MS points. Iam dead serious.

PrivateJohn, it works fine when i test it at my uncle's house. (Aztech)

Actually when the 360 look for the wireless signal, it was there ( the SSID) and the signal is 100% (cover the 4 bars) although the router is located at 1st floor of my house and the xbox at the ground-floor. Btw, which router you recommend that is a 100% working. What model? and price pls?

IMO not the router problems.... i think u shd bring ur router to ur uncle toby house to test on it.... no harm trying or u wanna waste some moo to get new router....

you juz minimize the scope of problems.... ur 360 working with ur uncle toby router..

wireless adapter faulty? No
ur uncle toby router work? Yes
ur router? No

no harm to bring it to ur uncle toby to give it a shot..

BTW ur 360 modded rite?.. can't support lar rclxms.gif ... only unmodded support M$ Wireless Adapter... flex.gif

Sell my router?? Nobody wants to buy a brand they're not familiar with. TP-Link from China. I dont think XBL is official in China thats why the router is not compatible.

I beg to differ, I am pretty sure that China is one of the official regions for Xbox live, mr gates would be pretty stupid not to go into that market as it is one of the biggest in the world. Is it not? any router that is compatible with ethernet or 802.11a/b/g will work with the 360 because these are international standards approved. The reason why the 360 does not work with certain routers are the security mechanisms that are in place inside these routers such as port forwarding that allow signals to go from specific ports on the 360 to the XBL servers.

Can you try bringing your xbox nearer to your router cause I have a notebook which detects full bar signal in the living room but cannot connect. If i bring it to the same room as the router, it connects with no problem. Strange but true

Hey guys, just found out with a US xbox 360 gamer that he had the same problem as me. He used homeplug ( Tmnet Streamyx offers this for RM188 ) and he said it works like a charm.

Should i buy this, or just buy a new router ??

Un9ku, what if i use and put it on an extension wire? Will it work? Do i have to plug it to a wall socket near the 360? Can it be like 5 meters away?

But the 1 that tmnut offer, is the one that support only 10mb below. Damn slow for online games biggrin.gif. I think best shot is to buy a new router and hopefully it works smile.gif What router that's the best for the 360? Linksys?

i bought my linksys wrt54gs v4 for rm268 last year at lowyat plaza. best thing bout this router is that u can install 3rd party firmware biggrin.gif just make sure u dun buy the v5 and above, its a big hassle.
weh if u dun mind, u buy some games on arcade then copy to my console mwahahaha. there's a trick to it. 1 acc buy, another acc can play full version oso biggrin.gif

I have a problem setting up the wireless connection on my XBOX 360 without using the original XBOX wireless network adapter. I just plug an extra wireless AP to the XBOX. System registered as a wired network connection but failed when it is checking for the IP address. My current network at my place is secured with password and i dont know how to access the ASDL router via XBOX.

Please help guys!!

There's no way you can access the router via your xbox.
Use a pc.

Which means the only option i have is to buy the MS wireless network adapter to go wireless networking?
I saw a thread mentioning alternative wireless connection using wireless AP.
Again im in a secured network connection
