I've been using Windows since Win 3.11 sweat.gif and Dos 6.2 at that time. And now OSX and wont be looking back. Its the best ever!

Well back to the question, bought my Macbook at RM5,299.00, no regrets. I agree its not cheap, but neither is it expensive. You dont very often get such an awesome package of Hardware and Software at this price. It's just BEAUTIFUL rclxm9.gif

I bought my MBP C2D last week in Bangkok after spend a lot of my time peeping this machine in KL. They gave me free wireless apple mouse which cost more than Rm 200 in KL. The Credit card statement only shown RM 9,4000.00. Than mean cheaper than KL plus I entitle to get a refund for 7% VAT when I fly back to KL.

Just like a dream come true owning this supeb machine..

my machine is 15" C2D 2.33 Ghz.. with ATI 256 MB.. whistling.gif

My opinion, not worth buying the Blackbook. The extra could go to valuable RAM upgrades. AND that in my opinion Apple should be in white.. Hehe..

siaukia,
Yes, there are people who will pay cash for their machines; unless of course cannot afford and can get instalment plan then why not take the instalment plan? tongue.gif

hm, this is what i worry, i don't have a cc now only debit card, i'm thinking what preparation i need to do doing instalment plan?

is the idea like, the cc company pay upfront the fullamount on behalf of me to the mac company and then throughout a 12 month, i pay back monthly to the cc company?

if so , i've seen you guys saying standard char cc is better than other since the % is lower? any recommendation?

but normally we cannot tweak how long we want to pay right? let's say instead of 12 month, i want to change to 6 month yawn.gif

siaukia,
Check with the merchant the available instalment plans available. Some may have 6 months plan and some 12 months and even up to 24 months. But do take caution of the processing fees involved.

Thus far, it seems that most CCs with instalment plans are charging a processing fee of 4%, but Stan Chart's processing fees are 2%, hence making that the most viable CC to use when purchasing a Mac biggrin.gif

Almost all installment plans are prepared by CC issuing banks, I dont think merchants do them anymore, where the amount would be apportioned to the number of months of the installment plan and charged to your CC account monthy. Well Maybank CC have interest free installments, provided you have credit for the whole amount.

Siaokia, just try to apply for one, like what I am doing right now. And wait for and see what happen next...i learn it is better than discussing here without taking some actions....Anyway, the intention of getting a mac is good, I dun think I will ever regret doing it.

i bought a refurbished black macbook for USD999+ taxes (came to abt RM3900) from the store.apple.com

i figured, being a first time mac user i dont need to get the latest/greatest. plus i did my research online and reports say that the core 2 duo chips only ran 10% faster than the core duo.

listed as core duo 2.0ghz 80gb hdd and 512mb ram. comes with 1 yr warranty
but when i got it, it came with 1gb of ram smile.gif

so i lucked out. apple decided to give me an xmas present (got the macbook on 26th dec)

oh and it looked brand new...

Congratulations! Good buy! Check the production week and see if its among those affected by the infamous Random Shutdown Syndrome.

Haha.. Not scaring you ler.. Just to be safe..

Production week is the 3rd and 4th number of the serial number. Then browse apple's discussions or search the web, there are ppl documenting all the affected ones..
