Ah, disappointment. Got my MacBook from Machines
But now Apple is saying there's no warranty left - expired 44 days ago

I'll be calling Apple Support tomorrow in hope to prove the purchase date to them.

Machines is quite the scammer nowadays.

Called Apple, and they just requested my invoice.
Warranty is now updated accordingly (1-year + 90 days telephone support)
Their customer service is really good!

No it isn’t. Refurbished units don’t come with 1 year warranty + 3 months telephone support. That’s only for the newer units

Yea but new units shouldn't come with -44 days expired warranty too...we were just saying either it's an internal technical error or the unit was refurbished or returned and when it's up for sale again... smile.gif

Yeah. However, you need to remember that the units Machines sold were old stock (2016 model). Perhaps Apple has a some form of safety/warranty tamper system that does this to older products when registered.

When my laptop arrived it was wrapped exactly like my previous 15” rMBP when I got it new. Even has the foam/paper piece between the screen/keyboard and the signature new MacBook smell. Also, my battery charge count was 0 when I got it.

Besides, there’s no harm in getting a return/refurb unit. I got one for RM 4000 only, and that’s for the 512 GB m5 model! 40% savings right there! Better deal than some windows ultraportables

If anything does go wrong, I have the same warranty to fix it. I can even get AppleCare to extend the warranty even further if the laptop does prove to be problematic
Win-Win
My opinion anyway.
