yay ... finally got it to work over the weekend .... now just have to get used to the interface .. finding places in garmin sure is odd ... or maybe i'm just used to mapking ... so used to the 3d mapping of the mapking -its a bit hard to get into garmin .... my problem was the gpsproxy 2.2a ... MUST patch the baudrate correction files in order to rectify the "GPS Port Error: UART Error: Framing" problems ... all the other settings as recommended work fine for the asus p535. Haha , perfectly happy with the asus, ... will be delirious if somehow theres a secret flap to uncover a hidden infrared port ...

hey - aren't u supposed to take it back to the place u bought it from to get it flashed ? So that warranty won't void if u screw it up doing it yourself ?

actually i have an issue with it charging thru the USB cable ....isn't it so that for lithium batts to last longer - u have to charge full and let it drain to near zero before charging again. ? something to do with the batt's memory ? and seeing as i'm syncing with the pc so often throughout the day - in effect i'm charging the pda 5-6x /day .... even when it doesn't need to . theres registry hacks to stop it from charging completely from the usb cable ..but it would be better to have a software switch to satrt/stop charging IMHO ? no ?

Bleeahh , even though I want so much to believe that somehow ...theres a secret infra red port somewhere on the 535...it's impossible ....

well, went thru the whole crappy ipod skinning thing ... maybe i'm not used to the interface but i hate it ... the slide to unlock and wizbar programs are pretty nice though, slide to unlock - looks pretty and cool but probably not very functional. uninstalled everyhting and went back to the wm5 interface.
In case anyone is looking, here is the link to the famous/infamous iphone_wm5.zip file.

@strik3 > uninstalled the slide to lock, the asus hardware keypad lock works better i think. Yes to the scrolling contact list - that was cool too... but after spending many many minutes assigning photos to all my contacts in photocontacts pro, i wasnt about to give up on it ... so thereby all the cool cool things in the mod/skin wasn't very useful to me...
@Stimix > the WM6 upgrade is not out yet , I think - those that are out are for france / portugal i think ... still have to wait ... and with regards to the softpedia site > why on earth do people keep on harping on the p535's supposedly not so nice design ? I think it looks great .. bloody sleek as compared to the dopod's rounded edges....

QUOTE(Strik3 @ Jul 13 2007, 09:25 AM) There are few Qns about Nav 6110: 1) What GPS chipset it uses? 1. SirfStar III chipset , but it's a symbian os phone - so gonna have the same problem as the n95's now ... can't use malsing maps unless u pair with another gps device . The maps nokia provides are very basic (major roads ? only) according to a friend who has it...... if want a nokia with GPS better to forget the navigator and get an E65 and a $300+ gps device to pair ... price will work out to somewhat the same... or wait another one / 2 months and get the asus for 2000

actually the main thing is whether he needs 3G .... if he does ...have some sort of company or family plan for 3g then the asus is definately out .... but if like most people who hardly ever needs 3g - then no brainer i think - the asus it is .......
