Guys,

The car tint i had installed is blocking the GPS signals so now i cant get any signal within the car.

Any work around this? maybe e.g. re-radiating unit or external antenna?

Pls pls pls tell me there's a workaround...if not...sigh.

@ stimix : Sorry if i'm being unclear. The thing is i cant use GPS bcz cant get a fix in my car now since i tinted it, i think its called SafeTint or something lidat.

You mentioned that fixing an external antenna would increase satelite reception and accuracy, which is awesome...but what about actually receiving reception based on my situation, where i dont get a fix?

Wah safetint having maximum infrared block too hmm.gif Check whether the infra red block spec..if it is >94% chances of getting satelite fix is almost "nil" U really need an ext antenna. No work around procedure*. But b4 this why not u try standing outside the car & try to get fix. If can this mean it is confirm that u hv instaled the >94% Infra red film...which also confirm u got the genuine film also in that sense... rclxms.gif

Check first,,probably system hang cannot be discounted... hmm.gif
* unless u cut a hole at the windscreen & place the GPSr close to this hole....No joke someone done this b4!!! & even if u call PLUS h/way they will advised u to cut the hole too (I called them b4! biggrin.gif )
*
Yeah, I could get a fix standing outside of me car but as soon as step into the car...the fix was lost b4 i could count to 3... doh.gif

But like u said, its good also la since it only proves that the tint blocks a lot of rays IN and OUT of the car sweat.gif

Btw, do u happen to have an ext antenna for P535? May I experiment it with yours to see if I should be purchasing it? pls pls pls? notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

Yes I hv with me but not directly hooked up to P535. It is actaully an ext antenna  connected to a re-radiating unit which I bot frm PC Mobile.

Although Asus oledi responded that the socket is mmcx standard but I doubt so bcos my fren D810 socket which is mmcx so much diff from mine!!

U can try it out if u wnat probably a small TT somewhere around Puchong or Tesco...this few days..I'm free Tonite, Wed & Thurs nites... biggrin.gif BTW, the cabling wth ext antenna will definetely very messy....
*
@ stimix: Aiyayai...tht's the thing i was dreading to hear...messy cables! Maybe i shd just cut a hole on the tint..feel so kanasai now doh.gif

Ok, i must at least hv a feel of having an ext antenna in the car and then decide whether ext ant or lobang. nod.gif How can i contact u eh?

Thank you in advance! Btw, u also play play with the 9db external laptop wifi antenna?

@ devil corp : No idea about normal n turbo USB mode, my guess is the processor speed it runs at while connected via usb? Mass storage device will treat your phone like a memory card reader, which means when u connect the phone via usb then u can access your mini SD card similar to using a memory card reader. However, the transfer rate of files will be slightly slower than typical card readers.

No, the USB modes shd not affect your charging rate.
I've yet to hear ppl saying their phone having problems being charged up to 100%.

hehe actually not so sure myself, saw the setting & just change it to turbo but I dun think any diff in charging time..still around 3 hr...
*
3 hrs to fully charge? Somehow i only observed it to be 2 hrs or 2.5 hrs? in fact much faster than my previous pda charging speed.

Wah, u guys really sayang the battery. As for me, my best effort would be to charge it when it goes below 30% or sometimes at 40% then it'll be charged dy.

That's bcz I'm paranoid about the phone running out of juice when met with an emergency i.e. better to experience slightly shorter battery life than to suffer a greater loss due to an emergency. Personally, I've yet to replace any battery on any gadget i had b4 i eventually buy a new one and i'm sure most of u are also similar right? hehe.

To think about it, the charging speed of this P535 is dam speedy! But is it true that charging in the car would deteriorate the battery? I've not heard of that "myth" b4 though.

Normally, i'll carry with me a usb cable and set the usb mode to 'card reader' for a short file transfer. Any transfer longer than 5 minutes, better off using card reader. Adn i agree that frequent plugging cable in n out is not so good, not to mention the inconvenience.

@ tester : I've not personally used any of those sms/mms backup applications before. But i believe you can backup via Jeyo sms like the software that is bundled with O2 Atom and the likes. I've also DLed this free app i.e. sms import, forgotten where i found it so google might help?

*SWT SWT SWT*

To prevent further potential heart attack (which occurred to Strik3) news such as price drop of P535, we shall call it "its another good news for some other fella who bought the P535". I believe the impact is not as strong as "...price drop on P535..."

Can..? *holding heart area and pengsan again*

@ stimix:

I'm choosing between these two packages from PC Mobile:
1) GART3X (Consists of GARTX + GAST3X)
2) GARATX (Consists of GARTX + GAS76X)

It seems like the GART3X package is slightly cheaper with a smaller size antenna.

May i know your opinion on this? Thank you.

@ klmc: I also think that the slide unlock mechanism is of a novelty function, especially with P535's on/off switch that is not so easily accidentally clicked. On the other hand, the flick scrolling of info e.g. contacts is a boon imo but is that function present in the skinning application?

Speaking of battery, i only have one phrase for it...it only gets better. I remember the 1st 2 days using it, it was like "omg, the pda swallows battery for fun" as it was out of juice in less than 3 quarter of the day, was so dulan thinking to myself so what if it has powerful cpu but dun hv the juice to power it. mad.gif

3 months down the road plus the article Stimix linked up, i've to say the cpu really makes the best of the could-have-higher-capacity battery. Just as a general observation for my type of daily usage i.e. avg of 10-15 sms, 30-45 mins calls, 15-30 mins WiFi, 15-30 mins for rojak things..on turbo mode & 57% brightness, i'll be left with about 20+% battery from a full charge, which is good judging that all processes are snappy. One could probably retain up to 30% battery level on Auto Mode or better yet with power saving mode. As for me, I'm just enjoying the raw powar of the device all the time... flex.gif

Cheers y'all.

@ klmc: Thats a pity, hehe. You know what, I view the harping on P535's "not so nice" design on a brighter side. Other than not having 3G/EDGE, which it wasn't meant to be such a phone anyway, it excels beautifully in its own class. With that in mind, it is obvious that it WORKs PERFECTly by far and that those who lament its design are probably those who thought it could look better in their eyes. Main thing is, nothing was said about lousy performance nor crappy built quality and those who bought it must be happy especially those who love the design i.e. KLMC...hehe.
In any case, design and looks are subjective after all, each to his own imo.

More waiting for WM6, sigh. How nice if I could read french...lol.
