Date of transaction: 2nd April 2016

Details of the complaint :

25th March 2016. I received a whatsapp message from a number +6011-38651775, asking if I am looking for a Gigabyte HD 6770 GPU. I said yes. Told him I did not have enough money to bank in atm, because he was from Sibu. So I told him I will bank in on 1st April 2016. He said ok.

1st April 2016. I banked in the money about night time, roughly about 7-8pm if I am not mistaken. Whatsapped him asking him to check his account. He previously asked me to bank it into his friend's account, which (stupid me) didnt find suspicious. He checked and said he received it. Asked for my name and address. And contact number. Another suspicious thing which I missed. Then told me tomorrow morning(2nd April 2016) that once he send he will whatsapp me.

2nd April 2016. Working, remembered that he was supposed to send it in the morning. The time I noticed was 12pm. I check my whatsapp, no profile picture already. Cannot call, cannot whatsapp call. GG.

At first, sorry to hear about this case & we almost fall under this trap under LYN ID "kai.88083". This guy show this transaction record & request to proceed his order. Luckily, 2 forumers were clarifying w/ me before hence aware about this scam, & stop his order.

Really thanks for help & clarification. We as LYN forumers always try to build trust in this forum, however those scammers come & spoil it. Hopefully, no more people fall under this scam.

Always buy from lowyat thread list from seller itself, the person can scam u and use the money to order from the real lowyat seller. So in the end, real lowyat seller got bad name lo...

This guy modus operandi is :

1. Search WTB thread
2. Whatsapp WTB thread starter
3. Impersonate other reputable seller (who doesn't stated phone number in their ads) and claiming he got the stuff victim want
4. Ask victim to bank in
