I am looking to buy master case 5 pro to upgrade my 690 III .

Im using cm690 III..good for early builders..but there are better cases with not much more money out there..y dont u go with phanteks enthoo pro?

Thanks for your suggestions, but i not really into Phanteks casings. I like CM casings more.

Get this case instead Fractal Design Define R5 Black Pearl Non-Window
It's silent and no frills. I owned a CM 690 case as well, and it's the fan noise is audible whereas Define R5 is super silent. You will either have to see the power LED light or look at the rear fan to know if its on. (Unless you purchased the windowed version).

Just get 690III, get extra Sickleflow X for top and bottom fans and call it the day.

i put sickleflow X on 3 pin to molex adapter and it spin hella fast - noisy.

using 690 III currently and only standard 120mm CM case fan. the very cheap one.

Looking for 140mm BC 140mm from CM also cannot find.

Cooler Master don't have 14cm fans.
Sickleflow X only 19dB, even at full speed. In some sense, it is quite good.
If you sit <50cm near to the fans, indeed it is noisy, but when > 50cm distance, it is quite good.

Even mastercase 5 pro feature 3 14cm fans. 12 cm fans is abit small i think.

I correct, they don't have high performance(in terms of high flow, low noise)14cm fans
12cm fans are not that small anyway.

is 14cm better at moving move air than 12cm?

Basically you need 2 factors, pressure and flow to rate a performance of a fan.
Just take my casing to discuss about, bottom 1 Sickleflow, top 2 Sickleflows, back the original 12cm, front the Megaflow
Specs for the fans :
Megaflow(20cm) : 110CFM, 19dBA, 0.595mm H2O, 30000 hours, rm50-55
Sickleflow : 69.69CFM, 19dBA, 2.94mm H2O, 160000 hours, rm22-27
Silent fan(12cm) : 44.7CFM, 19dBA, 1.65mm H2O, 30000 hours, rm40-60(pack of 4)
From the above, Megaflow is the best in terms of flow, but pressure are quite low, so the air enter my casing might not reach the place I need(for my case, the CPU cooler), but with 2 Sickleflows on top which having higher sucking pressure, so it will able to suck the cool air from the Megaflow, still, they are 19dBA. But 2 Sickleflow will make the noise level at 20-25dBA. That's the setback.

Here's the configuration in my casing currently

Rear is Jetflo

Top is 2 x CM 12cm standard fan

HDD cage with 1x CM 12cm stand fan , work as pull air from HDDs

Front is the Megaflow

There's a empty one at the bottom of the case, i haven't install fan yet

Have 2x Sickle Flow at bay. Put aside due to noise when it's running on molex power and not controlled by motheboard or Fan Controller.

Should i get a Fan Controller?

If you stay in Northern countries like Russia, indeed you need a fan controller, this is Malaysia man, some more being attacked by El-Nino. All my fans are running at full speed, no problem at all.
I suspect is your Jetflow that making it noisy.

it's on adapter on it's on the motherboard fan pin.

Maybe i will try Fan Splitter , like one 4 pin to many 3 pin ... is this control all fans at the same speed?

Well, it is quiet as you are reducing the speed. No point actually.
I'm using splitter for my CPU fan(heatsink Silverstone Argon3 with 2 Sickleflow), yet it is quiet.

Yes, its is quiet. If i don't use the adapter on the Jetflo, it will be very loud.

the adapter exist for the purpose. why no point?

I am plannning on getting a spillter and use it to connect some sickle flow and connect them to the Chassis fan port on the motherboard ( i still have one left ).

And why this thread becomes a case fan thread when i am asking your opinions on which case you guys think it's best.

Using 690 III currently. Just having a though of changing to a newer casing only.. if you guys says go for it/ based on yours reviews and thoughts.

That speed reducer is a resistor, you are generating heat on that resistor basically.
By reducing the speed, you are reducing the flow and pressure, if you don't want to high flow and pressure, then why need to spend extra? That's where "no point" come about.
Why I praise on the Sickleflow? It is because is cheap and performance not bad comparing to others, some with higher flow but louder, while some are quiet but flow lower.
There's no best case to begin with, your budget, personal taste matters. I get 690III is because of the fans support, price fits my budget, best of all, my personal taste. Another point is, I always take the whole casing out to my friend's workshop to do serious air blow job.

as an early adopter of CM 690III I say it is a good case. Now in the middle of repainting the grills due to rust lol. as for fans I think you can adjust your jetflo fan speed through your motherboard.

Yes it's a good case, however,

1. Just cleaning the front filter very problematic as i need to remove two side panel, and then only can remove the front panel.

2. The Bottom filter have a large gap in between the case and the filter. I am thinking the air have problem passing through efficiently and causing my psu fan to act up. ( a possibility )

1. I admit this is one of the problematic issue especially if your house is dusty.

2. My PSU have no problems with the bottom filter, and I only clean it once a month. Maybe it is you PSU that act up?

I always bring to a motorbike shop and use the air blower to blow my casing clean.

It's okay now, the psu. Master case 5 pro however meets some of my requirements

- removeable front filter without removing entire front panel.
- bottom filter seems larger and wider
- the legs seems taller = more air for the psu to breath?

on the plus side, there's psu compartment,
on the down side, hdd is now revealed, not much cable tie point like 690 III has,

still thinking whether should buy one though....

I clean my filters twice a week. A few days after i clean the front filter, dust already built up. psu's filter too.

I use paint brush, it cleans them nicely. I only bring the psu ( full modular ) and have stick to stop the fan and then blow at motorbike shop.

Bring whole set better

Too risky lol, i afraid later got scratches as the shop always packed all time.

Choose the right time, you do the blow job, not others

well, I am not fond of Case 5 Pro, too funky me thinks. There are always cases that better than Case 5 Pro.

hmmm instead getting a Case 5 Pro, why not get yourself an air compressor? very convenient not just cleaning PC but others as well.

Air compressor that can do proper blow jobs you need at least 1HP, not to mention need to be check(donate) by DOSH every year for safety.

Blowing while brushing should do the job well.

Well, you can say that. I think i will wait and see any new case Cooler Master has to offer.

I seldom use brush, just blow, I feel this way is safer to protect the fan from making it lose its alignment.

I recently upgraded from CM690 II to Mastercase 5

It was a toss up between CM 690 III, Corsair Carbide 400C and Mastercase 5.

1. Although I wanted a compact mid tower, I had to eliminate the 400C due to overpricing @ Lowyat Plaza
2. Knowing how much of a struggle it was to clean dust from the CM 690 II, I sided with Mastercase 5
3. Modular parts also appealed to me - especially removing the 5.25" drive bay to add 3rd intake fan (running 3 140mm front intake now!)
4. Promo price of MYR 439 @ AllIT

And that's why I chose the Mastercase 5
