Guys, just some quick question regarding to 478 procs. Im currently owning two 478 procs. Which are 3.0E (12caps) that im using now, and another 3.0C (30caps). Both of this procs are running on same speed, and HT enable. The different just the L2 cache. 3.0E having 1M while the other 3.0C was only 512kb. I was wander, which procs deal and giving better performance. Ofcause in this case i dont put OC into. Due the 3.0C was having 30caps i believe it can do more then the other one.
*
u got 30caps proc??my suggestion is, OC it!!!good overclockable proc u have there. regarding ur Q, there's not much diff between 512kb or 1Mb, unless in some applications, but the diff is slightly noticeable... sweat.gif

ur 3.0C much more better in term of lower power used which mean less heat... thumbup.gif somemore, highly overclockable which i think really kick ass if u oc it more.... thumbup.gif

edit: i just saw ur siggy, u got asus p4p800 deluxe, great mobo.very2 wasting if u r not using it for oc.... icon_rolleyes.gif

Wah.. Just home from PC fair. Gosh! Nothing much there. Mostly sell laptop and others. 7 series AGP all not available. doh.gif Yea.. Agree! Kch price are sharp! Next time will look at LYN instead of local shop. Even + in shipping also cheaper then on shop price.

Hha. CM Hyper 6 match my mobo dont worry. Just my casing become pack after put all the thing in. No worry. Wanna did some casing arrangement and do abit OC and see how the thing goes.
*
haha...pc fair at KL convection centre got very tempting price every year. it's just me always windows shopping only...hehhe... sweat.gif

anyway, cable management do improve ur cooling a lot. so no blocked air flow inside ur casing. as long u got intake and exhaust fans, ur airflow can be considered good. i always saw my friend's casing with very2 messy wire inside.feels like wanna do wire management for him on the spot...haha... blush.gif

Haha.. Yea yea!! Agree with edministrator. There just a name PC FAIR. But inside there all was doing cleareance stock business. Nothing much to see actually. Dont go. Its a waste of petrol and energy go there see nothing good. laugh.gif

Hmm.. Just did some cable management all hide some junk cable up. Now the casing looks more tidy. Haha. My pc side panel only closed when i do room cleaning. Rest of the time is open. Lol. icon_rolleyes.gif The cheapest way to cool down ther cpu.

p/s: Just hit 3.3Ghz wth my 3.0E at running at 38'c idle temperature. Trying to squeeze more! drool.gif
*
actually, closed side panel will get better overall cooling for ur system. but it's depends on the casing used. air ventilation inside casing do improved overall cooling compared with an opened sidepanel one....that's y got intake and exhaust fans to provide fresh air to flow inside the casing through all the component and warm air to exit through exhaust...

just my opinion based from my research only...correct me if i'm wrong... icon_rolleyes.gif

rm70 for xp90 is quite worth it.

if you really want to oc, the only ways is to change the mobo. keep your intel mobo as backup. smile.gif
*
yeah, thinking like that too.but it's hard to find good ocable soc 478 mobo now... sweat.gif

seriously though, the MSI Neo2 series dun hv problems wif RAM compatibility.infact its quite good for normal use.but OC wise, its not as good as Asus.my Neo2-S hardly hit 250FSB stable for everyday usage.

Anyone tried Transformers:The Game wif P4 478?mine during stages is ok.but the cutscenes are laggy though.i'm sure not GC problem.proc slow. loading also slow.

Added on July 16, 2007, 12:51 am

if u upgrade to 7800GS also, u'll only get better 3rdMark.overall gaming also wont hv a so significant performance gain.ur proc is bottlenecking the 7800GS.if wan upgrade, the best for p4 is only 256MB 7600GT DDR3 if wan minimise proc bottleneck(unless u hv p4 gallatin)
*
7800gs wont bottlenecking P4 3.0 above as there is no prob reported from user so far. but if x1950pro agp do bottlenecking ur proc, even p4 3.4 also can't correlated with this gc....

edit:performance of 7800gs just on par with 6800ultra, that's y it's not a burden to P4 soc 478 to maximize during gaming. just 7800gs do improve interm of power consumption and heat produced which it use lesser watt and produce lesser heat compared to 6800ultra.

you are using hyper6, right?? should be not a big problem. is it full copper?? Last time sHawty use hyper 6 able to push till 4ghz with the same board like yours. drool.gif same 3.0E also...haha

set vdimm to 2.85v and start push to max. watch the load temp.
*
erm..but also depends on the stepping he got. shawty must be very lucky able to have good stepping proc. anyway, wanna ask silly Q here. as all already know, i use intel board, so no ocing here.. blush.gif my ram timings is 2.5-4-4-8. will it brings any diff if i change my rams to better one, let say the one with CL 2-2-2-5 maybe???

Haha.. Place order for the GC already. But duno when arrive. Even end of month arrive i still need to see got enough $$ to bring it home or not. Otherwise, just put a reserved tag on it. Next month get my commission then bring it home. Haha.

Btw, tried with 3-4-4-8 timing. But got 2:3 ratio for my rigs. But well, could hit 3.7Ghz wo. 250mhz * 15. brows.gif

P/s: Just checked my stepping. Is D0 stepping. Are this stepping good? Hows a stepping can influence the OC result?
*
i read a forums which discussing about DO stepping before (already forgot which forum sweat.gif ). this was discussed when 1st 3.0ghz proc of soc 478 first come out to the market. they said DO stepping of 3.0E is a very good ocing proc. but must be aided with a good cooler (watercooling maybe) in order to keep it cool....
