It's good, but I think MemSet is a better alternative since it has a wider range of options. smile.gif

Here are two screenshots comparing disable and enabling the PAT on my ai7, juz that some of the setting change and nothing significant. smile.gif

The PAT is fully enable as i juz read some review on the net.
NB Strap 667fsb, GAT = A-A-A-D-D = Fully Enabled PAT
NB Strap 800fsb, GAT = A-A-A-D-D = PAT Disabled
NB Strap 800fsb, GAT = T-A-A-D-D = Fully Enabled PAT
NB Strap 800fsb, GAT = SR-A-A-D-D = Fully Enabled PAT
NB Strap 800fsb, GAT = F1-A-A-D-D = Fully Enabled PAT

Seems that try to set GAT option in bios doesnt allow the comp to boot up, it juz stuck after finish displaying the POST. Weird though. sad.gif

KahLooN, do you get extra overclocking when you increase your vAGP?

For now, I can't even run 250MHz on 5:4 dividers, although I know my RAMs can take the strain. It must be because of the four RAMs slots used up. sweat.gif

Also, my AI7 gives me memory error beeps when I try to enable GAT.

Also, try reducing the DRAM Idle Timer. I lowered it to 8T and I got a boost of 100 3DMark03 marks. smile.gif

Well i think the vAGP helps to stable the system, but im not sure till what extend as last time some forumer say is better to max out the vAGP. smile.gif

Maybe coz you are running with all the ram slot occupied? Have you tried with juz 2 sticks? hmm.gif

Regarding the GAT stuff, im not so happy with it coz supposingly the ram timing 2.5-4-4-8 can enable the Turbo mode. As my previos board and ram can do that, but not on this board. Perhaps maybe need some tweaking i guess.

For the Memset setting, i dont have much time to test all the different settings. Maybe when im free i will try play around with it. tongue.gif
*
Well, I wouldn't want to waste my time since I have no other choice but to run with four sticks to give me a GB of RAM. Maybe I could try it someday tongue.gif

Does GAT tighten timings on the northbridge or on the RAM itself? And do you have CPC enabled? smile.gif

The GAT setting tighten the setting on the ram only as it change several parameters that i have shown in the screenshot.

For the CPC setting, i usually disable it. This is what i set in the GAT setting, A-A-A-D-D. smile.gif
@kabukiawie
The CPC if im not mistaken related to those setting such as 1T or 2T. For intel board, those timing make no impact as disabling it will help to gain a better frequency. I myself follow what been say by forumer, hope that helps. smile.gif
*
Back during my Nforce2 days, enabling CPC helps you to gain extra bandwidth but limits FSB. Disabling it makes the opposite, and is a requirement for double-sided RAMs. smile.gif

Just tried the method posted by sang_karim, and I'm happy to say that it works for me.

My AI7 cannot boot with 240FSB with full PAT enabled, so I tried the workaround instead. Placed the command switch into the boot.ini, set the FSB at 200 and enabled PAT, went into Windows and used Uguru to bump up the FSB to 240.

Now I'm happily running with full PAT with faster memory. I'll post some pictures later. smile.gif

You change the NBStrap option or juz enable the GAT setting for full PAT? For me, i cant play with the GAT option as it will juz hang before showing the window loading screen. cry.gif
*
I changed the NBstrap to 667 to enable PAT. If I enable PAT using Turbo, Street Racer or F1 settings, I would get the same problem as you.

I think I'm having a bit of stability problems with PAT enabled...

is it have to set to default clock then can change the boot.ini trick?? i just change it without set to default. hmm....try my luck again. Any boost in performance?? opss......forget to say...CONGRATES!!  thumbup.gif  thumbup.gif

LOL, thanks! There's definitely a performance improvement, which can be seen in the pictures soon. smile.gif I'll later install the Bioshock demo to test for stability laugh.gif

KahLooN, I have a question to ask. When you use Uguru, does the changes that you do affect the BIOS settings as well? For example, if you set your FSB at 200, then in Uguru you increase it to 220, and when you reboot, the board boots at 220 instead of 200?

Do you know any other programs like Clockgen or SetFSB that can work with the AI7?

As I mentioned earlier, I can only enable full PAT when my FSB is at 200. So after I increase the FSB using Uguru, it changes my BIOS settings, making my PC unable to boot when I restart it unless I hold the Insert button. sad.gif

I never try use the Uguru before as all my OC done through the BIOS. Maybe using the Uguru doesnt "hard lock" the clocking compare to BIOS as we need to save it, am i rite? hmm.gif
*
The problem is, Uguru saves the settings into the BIOS when you do any changes. I prefer it to only apply during when I use Windows because my AI7 cannot boot up at that particular speed. sad.gif

So far I haven't found any workarounds. Having to clock up when Windows starts and clock down when I want to shut down is a big nuisance. shakehead.gif

As you can see, full PAT gives a considerable 200MB boost over not having PAT enabled. Funny, for some reason having partial PAT enabled drops the scores instead of increasing them. Also, do forgive about the CPU-Z screen and the image sizes, these screens were done in a hurry laugh.gif

All tests were done with the same settings in the No PAT enabled picture to ensure the scores don't change. smile.gif

@KahLooN
Eh? 64us or 64ms? According to TechARP, keeping the refreshes longer is better.

But thanks for the tip, I'll try it out later. smile.gif

@kabukiawie
I was just about to mention that. So is 64 or 128 better? laugh.gif Anyway where is this 'slic' you are mentioning about?

@fylon and sang_karim
For mine, it has been enabled and unlocked the whole time. hmm.gif

By the way guys, whoever who got PAT enabled or partially enabled, what are your differences in 3DMark03? I do not see any gain or loss from a PAT disabled setup. sad.gif

Lol, nice stuffs there, especially the EE. But I'd rather keep my money to go for a new Core 2 Duo biggrin.gif

Oh, you mean the SLIC for the Windows Vista OEM activation? Hehe, I already got the BIOS for my board, just in case... biggrin.gif

Enable PAT on the mobo with using Tweak865,i very seldom run it on 255FSB as the northbridge is very hot when loading.Usually i run at lower FSB like 235 or 240 like that. PAT performance on the mobo is not noticable in SuperPI and other software application,i feel like there is a little bit boost in gaming.
*
For me, there is NO difference at all whether I enable PAT or not. sad.gif

I've done tests with 3DMark03, 3DMark2001SE, Sisoft Sandra and SuperPI. None of these programs show any improvement except for Mbench. sad.gif

For my board, increasing Vagp does help stabilise FSB. But most overclockers say that ATI graphic cards are very sensitive to voltage, because it puts more stress on the MOSFETs on the card.

To add salt to the wound, I replaced one of the MOSFETs on my 9700 PRO with a lower quality version because one accidentally got ripped out when I pulled the heatplate off laugh.gif

I just changed to a new LianLi aluminium case yesterday, temperatures definitely have dropped since my old casing. To add, I'm lovin' the brushed aluminium biggrin.gif

But since my new casing has no sideport to blow cool air directly to the processor, my processor fan rose from 2700 RPM to a warp-speed 4500 RPM! It spins so fast till the whole casing starts to rattle and vibrate. And to add, the fan now sounds almost like a tornado inside... sad.gif

I have one question to ask icon_question.gif  Whenever swap processor, is there any extra procedure to be done? rclxub.gif  Because previously I'm using SL6EF and now i want to upgrade to SL7E8. After i replace the processor the computer just wont boot! doh.gif  I tried to reset the BIOS but the result is still the same. Any idea?
*
Is the new processor any different from the old one other than revision? If it's a Northwood to a Prescott, the computer might not boot due to the different power requirements or BIOS support.
