@dayalan86 thanks for those picture as i am able to clean the impeller by pouring a boil water on it. using kitchen tower to wipe all those visible oil stains, and include 2 PC fans, the works took me 2 hours to finish! Now my wife and i stand to the blower, we can feel the impeller efficiency is much stronger! thumbup.gif

Everything will have a possibility of breaking down that is why we give warranty and we have customer service support. Most important is the after sales service must be quick. Dealer + Supplier after sales service is very important.

From my understanding, fotile is giving 3 years warranty for the air curtain motor as well unless special cases like water sip into the motor (direct spray cleaner on it) or etc. I already PM dayalan for his details for me to follow up and make sure the technician wont simply charge him for no reason. Will need to look and read at the service report first.

Regarding idoblu "my ex-Fotile hood - i never ever see a single drop of oil in the cup" i think is due to improper installation or you turn on your fan which is directly blowing at your cooking area or you open window while cooking. With several customers posting with photos, we can see definitely there will be a lot of oil collected at the oil cup as shown by talibin's photo and as explained by dayalan86. If really there is no oil at all and the hood performance is so bad, you should have called the dealer or fotile to get it a check. I can say Fotile's after sales service is one of the best i ever call, dont have to put on hold long, sometimes i do call for customers to make reports.

For Maintenance
When you are steaming or even boiling soup, turn the hood on low speed, the steam will help to clean the inner hood as well.
If more customers really wanna DIY to clean the inside of the hood, i can try to record a video in my shop to show.

What is the tip on installing fan in the kitchen where hood is at the same area? Ceiling fan would be preferrable, but not too near to hood?

Honestly, i tested 180 degree around the hood, only a fan above the hood wont affect suction much. Other places even not directly at the hood, will also blow the smoke away.

This customer complain even with Fotile EH10BQ the kitchen is still oily. Since he is nearby kepong, i went there personally to understand the problem, didnt even need Fotile's technician. After checking, he has a wall mounted fan blowing around the kitchen, took the Fotile Steam Generator to test, no issue without the fan. So, we took a stand fan and go all around the hood to test which is the best location to install a fan and the best is directly above the hood....

As per photo, there is quite a lot of oil in the oil cup.

Problem solved and customer is very happy with the performance of the hood now. Actually, the hood will extract cooking heat out from your kitchen, so it wont be very hot compared to using an exhaust fan. I dont have a fan in the kitchen (open concept), my mom say is OK, not hot as we usually cook at night only. I notice, she cooks around 40min not more than 1hr most of the time. If you really wan to install a fan, only turn it on when you are preparing the food, turn if off when you are cooking.

Or I will upgrade the fan myself smile.gif, that's why I want to see how to access the fan and take it from there. The air curtain is theoretically supposed to help contain the fumes within the perimeter of the hood. Anyway will update with more photos once the guy comes for replacement work.

hmm.gif upgrading the fan. Look at the size it could be similar to the PC 12dc fan, possible to upgrade if its using 12dc fan.

I'm planning to install ceiling fan. Imagine my kitchen is rectangle, hood at the most left and fan at the middle of the kitchen. Not good?

Or should install wall fan at the right side?

Best to be away further from the cooking area. However, if u will be using the middle area most of the time to prepare food, then u have to install the fan at the middle. Jus turn if off when u r cooking.

If the wind could reach the person who is cooking, the wind could also blow the smoke away. Not sure how big your kitchen is, if you install furthest right, wind might not reach the person, no point of installing, if can reach then will affect the performance of the hood.

My suggestion, install the place where u plan to prepare food and just turn if off when u r cooking. Windows must be closed during cooking as well.

I dont think many ppl would aware the cause of the wind from fan/window to the hood effectiveness..

My kitchen is not big.. Anyway if fan's wind cannot reach the person who is cooking.. No point having fan then.. Normally heat from hob can make ppl hot/warm too..

*
bcoz the wind from the fan or outside is stronger than the curtain's air. No hood will be able to suck when there is wind blowing, not even with suction 1500m3/h. People will then ask, why not make the air curtain wind stronger? If the air curtain wind is too strong, it will affect our gas hob performance, that is why there must be a balance.

Moreover, when the hood is turned on, cooking area will become low air pressure, while the air from outside has higher air pressure will be sucked in and reduce the performance of the hood. The hood is used to extract smoke, oil and odor, if you open window while cooking, the odor that is sucked and blown out will come in back to your kitchen through the window.

Regarding the air curtain motor issue posted by dayalan86, i have called up fotile's service manager to confirm that the motor as well has 3 years warranty. Most brands only give 1 year warranty for accessories like touch screen, button or etc but fotile's hood has 3 years warranty for everything against defect except LED light. Must be aware that some brands say 5 years warranty or more is only for motor not the entire hood, must as carefully when buying. For any warranty clarification on FOTILE, you can call 0333435306 to ask, you can also grasp how good is their customer service & response. (12.30pm - 1.30pm lunch time)

Just sharing all these to make sure forumers be aware of this and to optimize the performance of the hood. Whether the air curtain works or not, definitely u and other people who are using it will know. I have used it, tested it also recorded a video in youtube to show the performance, it is 100% real. Many customers are happy with the performance and that is why you can see many positive reviews and also users recommend their friends/family to buy it as well.

I never sprayed anything into the DC ioniser fan area, but there could have been some debris that may have fallen inside the DC fan grille while cleaning up the dust. As our kitchen is open concept, the hood is performing well in keeping the grease within its perimeter apart from this minor setback. The other areas and floor is not oily.

In addition, this is our family home and my mom can now clean the filter of this hood by herself without needing me to assist much (except for detailed cleaning on the interior portion and above the hood area, on quarterly basis) compared to our cumbersome old hood with big baffle plate and filters which were a pain to clean without making a mess in the kitchen. The downside of course, the internal becomes oily marginally faster than our old hood but if the grease is contained within the hood assembly, I believe it means the hood is doing its job well.

Given a choice, I'd rather buy a hood with higher suction such as the CTS-9004 as compared to EH10BQ, as the primary function of the hood is the suction.

Btw, thanks Zheilwane

I am using Fotile EH-10BQ for 20 months now, the ionizer fan is making loud noise. Upon checking require replacement RM35 each. Plan to get the service guy come when I am around, so i can see how to DIY servicing the hood and also replace all these "accessory" item on this hood as the parts are cheap but the house call is expensive.

I recently serviced the hood due to above noise issue and also due to suction power loss & increased noise, the service guy accessed the hood fan by removing the inner front chimney cover. The service cost is RM 280 sad.gif for a not so difficult job .Photos as per below. I am not sure if special tools are required to open the fan though, as I was not around when the guy came for servicing but will anyhow try to service it myself next time.

hi....

my Fotile EH-10BQ use for about 4years ...recently when the blower fan turn on ..its produce noisy sound ...yi..yi...yi...like that ..ive capture video but cant attached here ...

left side air curtain cant feel the suction air ...while front ..right i can feel it ...

check with Fotile service technician..the noisy sound might due to air curtain fan ....the repair cost about rm100+ included labour cost ..
possible to get the parts outside and replace by our own?
think can save 50%?
just no ideal how to dismantle ...any video clip to dismantle?

even my warranty extend to 5years but only cover motor....

btw...if air curtain fan replace buy Fotile technician..at the same time can request to change to motor since used it for 4years even currently the motor still can turning ...
so that the fan motor can last more longer even after my 5 years warranty over ...

thanks ...

For rm 100 inclusive labour is very reasonable price. Some companies charge rm 150 only for labour fee. Get the expert to fix since it is cheap. Even u can fix yourself, driving around to buy the parts will cost u petrol, parking, parts may b gonna cost u half the price d

The recommended maintenance is every 2 years or more frequent depends on usage. RM 120 for cleaning is very reasonable.
