Hi, what is mean by catch 22 situation ? Is it possible to clean up the oil which built up inside ?  I noticed mine unit no longer trap the oil efficiency like new unit.

Access to the Vent fan will be hard, for internal after the filter yes can be clean. For easy cleaning i use Bosch heat gun to soften the build up oil.

So, you just take off the mesh filter, then use bosch hot air gun to blow toward the internal motor and impeller ? Will it damage the parts ? After blowing, any improvement ? I might want to give it a try in such way. brows.gif

You won't get access to the motor, not sure if you can damage it or not but it should not be because when cooking heat will also be suck out.

Did not have any equipment to test if it have any improvement or not, my main objective was to clean inside.

Probably the impeller has some stubborn oil stuck on it and make it run slower and efficiency is gradually degrading. sometimes i use scott kitchen towel to wipe those stubborn oil in the impeller and accidentally cut myself just because the edge is too sharp! Wondering the heat gun, switch the tempeature > 300 - 400c is useful or not. rolleyes.gif or my hands melt first.

300c devil.gif That temperature maybe the oil will be fried, no need clean. I forgot the temperature used, need to get it from my friend to see again (I borrow from a friend) , remember i use very low temperature maybe 100-150c. After that i spray some wd40 and wipe it off. Still not easy to clean may have to do couple of round.

Hehe, maybe i should try 400c to fry to oil instead biggrin.gif

I am using Fotile EH-10BQ for 20 months now, the ionizer fan is making loud noise. Upon checking require replacement RM35 each. Plan to get the service guy come when I am around, so i can see how to DIY servicing the hood and also replace all these "accessory" item on this hood as the parts are cheap but the house call is expensive.

I recently serviced the hood due to above noise issue and also due to suction power loss & increased noise, the service guy accessed the hood fan by removing the inner front chimney cover. The service cost is RM 280 sad.gif for a not so difficult job .Photos as per below. I am not sure if special tools are required to open the fan though, as I was not around when the guy came for servicing but will anyhow try to service it myself next time.

bro, 3 years warranty for fotile's hood, if noisy can get them fix, should be free. But hood servicing is not free. The internal parts looks clean, is this before or after cleaning?

Thanks, now I know where to remove if things get bad, or when i really go into OCD mode and clean clean clean biggrin.gif and shall take some photos when i go into spring cleaning on the hood. Now that you not the first person facing problem with the this model, look to me fotile could be over rated..

They informed me 3 years warranty is only for the main suction motor. Accessories 1 year warrant.

The interior is clean because I have been wiping the areas where I could access. The suction fan not shown in the photos was dirty and required cleaning.

This is nothing new as even my old Fujioh hoods used to get greasy inside around every 2 years.

My lesson learnt is not to get cooker hood with many accessory functions. Just get a basic unit with good suction and it is good enough. After cleaning the fan, it's very quiet once again except for the whining sound from the ioniser fan.

If you are using EH10BQ be careful when cleaning the ioniser fan grille on top of the hood.

As if you wipe the dust + grease and it falls into the fan, it will damage the fan. At least this what the service guy claimed. He said usually the fan only fails after 5 years, so mine could be an exceptional case.

Maybe you steam more smile.gif

My collection cup never filled up, usually 1/4 only and internal already very greasy.

Nope. Hardly steam stuff
Mostly stir fry stuff. Seriously nothing inside the cup.

Doesn't matter anymore cause that place already sold. Now I'm using Teka with oil filters, no cup. Still not very efficient cause oil vapors are a lot heavier than ionized water vapors 😝

Mine fills up very fast and quite a lot of oil in the cup every week as we do a lot of frying I guess. For me as long as the grease does not work itself beyond the ducting and elsewhere in the kitchen, it's good enough. Just that we shouldn't fall for the gimmicky functions of the modern hoods.

The fotile baffle filter is definitely much easier to clean compared to our old fujioh, the trade off is that the interior of the hood does become oily but seems it's only up to the fan. So if I can diy the interior every year, I guess it should serve me well. Just need to find a filter for the ioniser fan inlet at the top so that it doesn't suck dust. Imho this is a design weakness on the air curtain intake of the EH10BQ hood. The air intake inlet should have been inside the chimney area but outside of the inner assembly, which will be clean of grease and dust and prevent the fan from failing prematurely.

Anyway if no premature failure, they can't make money can they ☺

Like i mention before, possible suction is too strong and oil just travel out as the Baffle will not be effective if speed are too strong and gab are big. Maybe when speed reduce the oil will collect more smile.gif I do notice my oil collection are more when fan speed are lower.

Yeah I know, oil may look like water vapor but total different behavior. Filter have its good, no need worry to clean, stuck already just buy a new one, that what my friend did, he buy few set, and change it after suction still bad even after wash.

Maybe just bypass / cut off the ion fan.

Or I will upgrade the fan myself smile.gif, that's why I want to see how to access the fan and take it from there. The air curtain is theoretically supposed to help contain the fumes within the perimeter of the hood. Anyway will update with more photos once the guy comes for replacement work.
