QUOTE
We reported last week that government officials in Germany are hoping to create a law that could jail creators and developers of violent video games. The idea has made its way across the sea. Hillary Clinton announced yesterday that she plans to try to enact a law that would jail or fine those who create violent games. Clinton's speech especially targeted Rockstar Games, the creators of Grand Theft Auto and Bully, but also mentioned the titles God of War, Hitman, and Call of Duty.

"The men and women who create these games and market them toward our innocent children have no right to walk our streets. People who invent these violent murders and thefts which inspire copycat killings need to pay the penalty for the crimes they inspire," Clinton demanded.

We expect the details of this law to be expounded shortly so be sure to stay posted.

This is a classic trademark of hitting the iron while it is hot. The best way for politican to gain votes are to market the hottest issue as of then.

Withouht thinking coherently they will push the responsibility towards those that are not responsible. If marketing and creating games as such will make people violent. Why not jail the gunsmith, knife maker, football player and every other violent or violent-hinting product maker?

ha... another topic caused by the big black tube ( okay... maybe a black screen... i mean tv screen and LCD screen.... whatever you use to play your console or PC games lah... )

Anyway let's cut the bulls**t..., and get back to the real business here. The real problem here is that just controlling your kids playing games on the computer. Just like your ASTRO, you don't want you kids to watch TV all day thats why there is a parental lock.

Windows XP have this feature included long ago (on Windows 2000 Pro and Windows XP). Give your kids a limited account or guest account on your PC and make sure that those program doesn't show on their desktop. and also make sure that those viloent games you install are encrypted using your credentials so when some one using limited or guest account those game won't run cause they don't have those credentials.

Those are the long way, but with the up coming Windows Vista. A new user account management system is implemented. Hopefully we don't have to go through those above troublesome steps.

Heh. Should enact a law to lock up their senators, instead. Or just restrict purchases based on the game's rating.

Nah, it wont work in the US becouse of the 1st amendment act - freedeom to express, or whatever, game developers will fight its their right to 'express' their games like art, movies, books so cant be done.

Plus who said that the games are for 'innocent kids' Sure they are some violent games, but these are not for kids. Its the parent or maybe the shop that ignore this 'adult only' games and give it for the 'innocent' that should be blame for most.

Some more kids (there are some before, but now is more) this days can't differentciate between games and real life that they become violent after playing the games. So control over access is needed. Control if you think the 'innocent' can't handle it. Not jailing the developers.

i guess Hillary doesn't know there's a rating for each games that is sold. GTA, , GOW, COD are surely not rated for Everyone. even Fight Night Round 3 are rated for Teens.
