Forumer you are complaining against: @super7

Item being sold/bought: Hard Disk

Original thread link: not sure which. he sells quite lots of item.

Date of transaction: 14 March 2016 (amount was only RM110 Tto his hong leong account)

Details of the complaint : bought a hdd from a user named super7, claimed the hdd is used but in working condition.

THE DEALS

I bought a hdd from a user named super7,

the hdd was claimed to be used, but in working condition. *but without proof. i was quite busy that day meeting with some client. so i didnt bother ask the proof if the item is really working. well, ive dealt with other seller. didnt bother to ask for proof of working condition. so far, not having any problems. smile.gif

really need a hdd to rebuild a pc from my old motherboard for some use.

He agreed to sell it for rm110 with postage to sarawak. I trusted him because he sells considerably lots of used item etc. Ive been buying from garage sales long time, never had any problem before. even with used computer parts. seing a seller with lots of selling thread, doesnt seems to concern me much to doubt the deal.

later on the same day, i transferred a total of RM110 to his hong leong accounts.

POSTAGE

So the as of 15 March, he give me the tracking no, which is EH145563962MY . can still tracked it as of today (22/3/2016) of course it was delivered to me by then. **refer pict below

took quite some time for the tracking info to be shown on poslaju websites. not sure why. possibly remote area i guess or packed?

received the parcel on monday (21/3/2016) around afternoon. took quite some time to receive. opposed to shorter timeframe for me to return it. as poslaju branch was only 5 minutes drive from my workplace i. it took less than a day for him to receive the hdd back. EF659396367MY

RECEIVING

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

after the long waits, finally received the parcel, right after unwrapping, i was surprised that it is SEAGATE HDD instead of WD brand.

The subject of the pm clearly was "WD 500GB HDD", then only he told me that the WD hdd was out of stock and he sent me the seagate instead. not even bother on telling me first. quite not expecting that sort of behaviour from an *experienced seller* . so i replied, if its working, i dont mind.

come on, im not gonna bother him to post the hdd again just over different brand, not that kind of choosy sort of person . as long as it works for me.

so i just proceed testing it directly since i was at the office.

TESTING

first thing i noticed, the hdd not even spinning up.bios seems very slow respond on detecting hdd. but it managed to get through eventually until desktop.

i asked him why, he said the hdd is set in offline mode. sounds logic to me. right after booted to the desktop, i tried as what he instructed me to. opening a disk management program to set it back online. the hdd not shown there at all. i even checked device manager, nothing!

*refer pict

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

then he suggested me to try it on other pc. so i tried hook it on different pc, bios took quite some time, boot slower than usual.

once again, opening the disk management. the hdd not shown at first, but after few minutes of refreshing, the somehow listed there, and the capacity shown was only 3.86GB.

RETURNING

As expected, any buyer would do is to return the item if its not working for him to check again. So i just repack the item, and drive straight to poslaju since it is nearby, only 5 minute drives)

RETURNED

So in less than a day, he received the hdd, and straight accuse me "FFK" and "cheating"

*refer to the wtsapp conversation screenshot (uploading)

received a text while i was driving, stopped due to red traffic light. checking text. mannn ! the feeling being called ffk/cheating while driving, really affected driving focus. rclxub.gif

so now, he non stop calling me ffk/cheater. been arguing about it till now. threat to report me.
i have nothing to hide/afraid of for the truth. so i just decided post this thread to see if anybody could judge/comment about this or even help me with this. please!

If the hdd really working at the first place, why didnt he send me any proof for the working hdd in the first place?

also, considering my long time being LYN user. why would i risk my rep to cheat him over 500gb hdd?

all im demanding now is either refund me the full amount or send me a working 500gb hdd. thats all!

i never accused him on cheating, but at least, consider what im demanding here, as the hdd really didnt working right after unboxing. cry.gif

My advice for you is to swallow it and move on.

There is no official standard of protecting yourself here in /K when you both deal with each other.

Next time, try make yourself to a shop rather than buying something online just for your conveniency.

Everything comes with a price.

I'm sorry that you have to deal with such unfortunate incident. Dealing with used stuff always comes with a price though unless you check and verify thoroughly.

What's the urgency for you to require another hard disk for?

well.. the story begins, i kinda promised my friends a pc for basic surfing use, so i sort of went build one for him using my old motherboard case, put it all together, guess what, missing one part, hdd.

so, i just took our home pc 160gb hdd away, and left the pc without hdd. hoping getting the 500gb will sort of expand the storage for home pc.

if youre asking me why all the hassle, well. different people, different way on doing things. and not sure why my mind end up making decission like that..

and my sister/family probably gonna went nuts if the pc not working after this school holiday. probably need to borrow someones hdd for a while(which is very unlikely) doh.gif

long story short, on all of my kindness, donating a pc, end up being caught in such situation. icon_question.gif

I think you should know that next time before promising something, you need to make sure you have everything on your hand before proceed and do not try to salvage parts here and there which will only caused you more issues than you can handle on exceptional case.

Often times, we will resort to all kind of issues and most often, we will try to minimize the cost as much as possible. You can minimize anything unless you are perfectly sure that everything is working normally but we are human, we will tend to make mistakes here and there. But what is most important is to have backup plan or maybe support. Don't gamble on your decision as it's always going to stir things up rather than help you on the long run.

Since you are donating a pc, why not just delay it for a while for your sister or family first. Once you got yourself a new hard disk, then you can proceed with your good deed.

just assume that i owe him a favour . so it might not much as an act of good deeds, well who care, im giving it rather than sitting in my room collecting dust. but who knows its gonna hit me back like this.

as for backup plans, not really. but there's few last resorts ones. either borrow our my workplace ones, until i get a new one soon. or being *buruk siku* (if you ever heard it, getting back what you give ) we'll see how it goes. blink.gif

There is no need to question what is he doing with the PC. The most important part now is the deal. Seriously something wrong with the seller. It is illogical for the buyer to change the board of the HDD since seller sent a different model than requested. If the buyer had planned this, he would've insisted the WD hdd and not just be satisfied with the Seagate. I am with the buyer for this one. Seller's excuse in unacceptable.

** i understand u sell many hdd, and i respect your rep as hdd seller.

you keep claiming things that im even sure of. hdd mobo? sn number modified? sn run ? render me clueless right there.

i do use hard disk, but not tinker with it. mad.gif

as the hdd itself cant even start, cant even detect, how come all those thing happen at once? bangwall.gif

few things you need to take note of, first i want the wd hdd, not seagate. i would consider if its working. but unfortunately NOT. my usb ext hdd (seagate brand), broke once, thats why i avoid seagate. seen bad review about seagate too. wd been serving long quite long time. thats why i prefer it over seagate. probably personal opinion, im entitle to my own choice right or am i not? dry.gif

second, i dont even bring the hdd home. test at office pc, two different pc. still not working / spin. cant hear any tiny vibration as it should.

as agreed, i returned the hdd to you for you to check. even went out to poslaju office to pos it few hours later. same day.

if i do have bad intention, i wouldve at least bring it home first. but heck, what im gonna do with it? i cant event get it working/starting . mad.gif

wouldnt you think of any damage caused during transport? but you already came up with *sn number modified*. which is weird thing to do imo.

for those all things you've accused me, got any proof to compare with? worth rm 100 just to accuse me ? come on, i just need a working hdd not to one to break.

if you cant even consider reasonable way to sort this things out, just KEEP THAT HDD! ive had my lesson today. ill just getting a new one instead and a report for you too.

what i can tell u is u r unlucky to meet seller like him. I think you just forget about dealing with him la..

form what i read, he changed the WD to Seagate is already seller fault for not informing as your agreement to buying the exact products has been voided, at this point he, the seller might already know the Seagate HDD have problem and sell to you and you cant do anything about it. Who knows right? dry.gif

PM mod to give the seller dispute tag. I can see this is not the buyers fault.

Who knows maybe the seller change/mod the hd sn before send it to the buyer...

my take here is seller fail to prove his innocence

any attempt to twist with change mobo, firmware etc is invalid since seller fail to show proof that the HDD is a different unit, its one & the same, & its faulty

he wanted to skirt the rule & escape his obligations for a refund

the faulty item has been returned to seller thus he should refund & case can be close

based on seller's way of replying here, I doubt he will honor it, so TS just take it as a lesson to scrutinize seller's credibility more carefully next time

even if lets say the HDD became faulty due to shock after rough handling / fall during transport; the seller is still liable & should send a working unit as replacement, otherwise refund the buyer
