QUOTE(SHOfrE3zE @ Mar 21 2016, 04:34 PM) anyone can recommend a good & cheap car rental from sydney to canberra? i might wanna rent when i go there at the end of this year. if i have a toddler, do they provide baby car seat? any do's and don't during driving there? and is it easy to drive there? especially sydney. Try this http://www.apexrentacar.com.au, free carseat and gps. The price is quite cheap compare to other international car hire service.

QUOTE(fuzzy @ Mar 21 2016, 04:36 PM) Melbourne? The food culture there is really vibrant and changes quite fast, you might want to check out TripAdvisor for new ones ... otherwise, the tried and tested are the usual few lo.. stalactites for greek, Hardware Societe, manchester press, erm.. the market for some tasty meat sausages ... I remember people hype quite a lot about lord of the fries and the shepard's pie though i though it was just okay.. Insurance wise, its about the coverage value.. they will tell you how much basic insurance will cover, if you worry then can up it so the cover limit is higher.. worth it or not is hard to say.. I didn't got any and got away just fine, but when I went to collect my rental, there was a couple in the workshop that was wreck quite badly, usually because they hit an animal that decided to cross the road in the middle of the night those you mentioned covered, i'll search for the greek one i'm traveling with a kid so won't be driving at night but note taken, will decide whether to take up additional insurance when i'm there

But do watch where you park. The max time you're allowed to park. 1/2P, 1P etc 1/2 P = half hour, 1P = 1 hour & so on. Buy ticket from ticket machines. Can use credit card too if you don't have change.

In NZ you can drive for ONE year with our current Malaysian license. No need driving permit. Because it has English on it and we drive at the same side of the road as them.

QUOTE(kenji1903 @ Mar 21 2016, 06:45 PM) need to consult /k travel experts can I use my new Malaysian driving license (the MyKad looking one with dual language) in Australia? or must I apply for an IDP (International Drivers Permit)? My sister came back from Korea and she said must use IDP my colleague came back from US and he said no problem using current drivers license so how? sorry no drillz cos random say i always use the same boing boing boing girl It's fine. Don't worry. Just be aware of the hook turns in Melbourne CBD if you are driving. If you are renting car for a few days and need some discount codes, let me know. I have some.

But don't let the driving part ruin your holiday. Nowadays with modern tech, it's easier than ever. Just be aware of the speed limit & parking zones. You'll need a baby seat if your kid is still little.
