Hi guys/girls.

Recently i had purchase an old folks phone for my parents.

I need to choose a suitable sim for that phone which must have long validity (365 days or more) as they quite less using that phone except for emergency, standby or for us to call them.

- Internet is not important as that phone has no internet function.
- Any brand of telco as long as got offer long validity & cheap
- SMS is not important as well
- Quite rare reload
- Short call most of the time

Please list down the :
Brand of sim card
Plan
Price of sim card
Price of Long Validity subscription
and T&C for keep long validity valid

* I had check with digi, the new sim that come with is New Best v2 which is no longer offer 365 validity and is impossible to switch back to old plan.

thanks for you help. rclxms.gif laugh.gif

Ok , check already on tunetalk. No bad no bad, get 50% free credit when reload.

Yup, i'm a digi user for many years, only old plan can subscribe 365. and too bad new sim cannot downgrade to old plan.

Port in or out is not an issue as that number just few of us know. (if come to worst case... haha abandon and get a new card devil.gif )
but for me , maybe is an issue, coz i using my digi old number for more then 10 years with lots of friend know it. ( I gonna think twice if i wanna port to XOX)

I had check 365 on hotlink. Did not mention about minimum balance require.

Thanks for the info notworthy.gif

By the way, did you use tron ? how is the line reception ?

check back with xox...they have no right to keep user port out...normally got few reject code eg name/ic not match, credit expired, not reply to port out notification sms etc

btw u can report to skmm if they still not allow

28 months validity with onexox, will be extended with every topup

btw xox and onexox will merge soon and will become onexox thumbsup.gif

So far im happy since it is riding on Celcom network. Good indoor and outdoor coverage.

You may try the rm7 simpack and see whether it fits your expectation. Comes with preloaded data of 300mb (valid for 15d) and rm5 credit (valid for 30d).

Ah, if you're referring to free basic internet, then that's a different story. For that, should just say free basic internet because this basically lasts as long as the card's validity. Like DiGi Best... RM68/year! rclxub.gif

Which telco or MVNO is going to start giving free basic internet with cheap validity extension, first? Wait... maybe long.. long...? hmm.gif

Yeah, low frequency means low capacity. You should try your luck or ask other dealer.

Band 5 could only had spectrum as wide as 10MHz and Band 3/7 could go up to 20MHz. So nothing really surprising here.

Go to Hotlink thread and ask Maxis or Hotlink to help convert your plan to the old one. Then only can activate 365 validity

Haizz... stupid of the Celcom.
Because currently I use Celcom Prepaid Blue plan.. (The call and sms rate are really expensive..)

N plan to migrate to Xpax24 (If I m not mistake, this Xpax24 plan still can subscribe credit extend validity) because the call and sms rate are slightly cheaper a bit than my current blue prepaid plan.

I don't want migrate to the latest #Kelentong plan because unable to subscribe validity 365. I got contact through Celcom Live Chat, it's seems like cannot.
But don't know Celcom got any special request teams can arrange to let customer subscribe the validity 365 or not.. doh.gif

actually celcom still have, but they dont just publish it in website or in USSD anymore.
Today i just subscribe the 2 year validity through SMS biggrin.gif
i think you sms EXP1 or EXP2 to 28882.
EXP1 is RM30 for 1 year validity
EXP2 is RM50 for 2 year validity.
After that, they will ask you to reply with EXP YES or EXP NO.
Once you replied EXP YES. then thats it.
You can extend your credit validity to 1 or 2 more years.
Mine is extended to 2019 tongue.gif

hi guys,

There are two (2) prepaid plans that may fill this requirement:

1. Digi Best Prepaid 2016 = has 365 days validity at RM68 with 500MB monthly quota basic internet
2. BuzzMe prepaid = has 365 days validity at RM38 with high speed data quota subscription that does not expire.

Others with long validity:

a. Altel has 365 days at RM28 and data at 5sen/MB payu (pay-as-you-use)
b. Friendi auto extends 60days validity with any data usage at 7.5sen/MB payu
c. OneXOX has 28 months initial validity to match with high speed season pass
d. Tron gives 365 days with any >= RM10 topup and data at 10sen/MB payu
e. Tunetalk has 365 days at RM28 and data at 5sen/MB payu (or addon with weekly RM2 100MB quota)

Let's make this clear and hopefully be of help to someone:

1. All older celcom prepaid plans from Xpax (Xlite/Xmid) up-to IOX can subscribe to extended validity.

2. EXP1/EXP2 is tested and verified to be working as of 3rd January 2017.

3. USSD menu *118# for extended validity is not working since late 2015 (magicsim period).

4. Extended validity can only be subscribed using SMS. To subscribe, send EXP1 or EXP2 to 28882

5. EXP1 = 1 year at RM30 / EXP2 = 2 years at RM50

6. Must accumulate RM30 worth of topups within 6 months of EXP subscription or else it will be canceled.

7. There is no way to migrate/revert/subscribe to any of the old xpax plans. Period.

Digi Best prepaids do have super long life. The latest prepaid Best 2016 have revised the SLL price to RM108 ... shocking.gif
If you're on digi best then check the version first.

Other than digi there's Altel, Buzzme, Onexox, Tron, Tunetalk ... If you need roaming then Altel/Onexox/Tunetalk else check them out to what fits your needs ... shouldn't be a problem to mnp to any of these telco ...

Hello there !

Please click on my sig and take a peek of my thread to get some info on how to get 28 months validity for new starter packs.

If you have reached to the end of 28 months validity, you still have 60 days grace period. You can extend another 12 months before your validity expire (if you have enough credits) or you can topup during grace period to subscribe to 1 year validity.

Actually, you can purchase the 12 months (@rm25) extension immediately after getting initial 28 months validity and have a total of 40 month validity.

Thank you.

actually celcom still have, but they dont just publish it in website or in USSD anymore.

Celcom no more offering extended validity to current and new prepaids. Only older prepaids still have this option. You cannot mnp to older versions either.

Your best bet would be either

1. ONEXOX - rm25/year (can stack validity, free 28months validity for mnp)
2. Tunetalk - rm10/year (on promo now, cannot stack)
3. Altel - rm28/year (cannot stack)
4. BuzzMe - rm38/year (cannot stack)
5. Tron - rm10 topup for 365days validity (cannot stack)
6. Digi Best - rm108/year (cannot stack)

Celcom infra - ONEXOX, Tunetalk, Altel
Digi infra - Tron, Digi Best
Umobile infra - BuzzMe

I know C and D works fine in Kuching but not sure about U ... For just keeping a backup number on-the-side then its worth to try use onexox.

Hope that helps ...

if your area in kuching is good with digi line, then u can get tron.

if u use the digi line alr, but they wan other alternative for spare coz celcom, digi and maxis down always, then u can get onexox which is using celcom.

i from sibu sarawak. i am using tron(digi) and redone(celcom coverage).

if u interest in tron, u can watup me for further detail. 01150110637 coz i am tron agent. thanks

tron is reload rm10 for extend 1 year vaidity, not like other telco is pay rm30 or rmxx t activate for 1 year.

call rate for tron is 18 centper minutes

call between tron is free for 250 min per month.

1. ONEXOX - rm25/year (can stack validity, free 28months validity for mnp)
2. Tunetalk - rm10/year (on promo now, cannot stack)
3. Altel - rm28/year (cannot stack)
4. BuzzMe - rm38/year (cannot stack)
5. Tron - rm10 topup for 365days validity (cannot stack)
6. Digi Best - rm108/year (cannot stack)

A noob here. What does it means by stack validity?
*
Hello there !

Validity stacking is one of onexox current feature. Every rm1 topup adds 1 day to existing validity. For example, if you currently have 28 months validity then reloading rm30 will extend it by 30 days to 29 months validity. If you purchase 1 year extended validity @rm25, you total validity now becomes 41 months.

Thank you.

if your area in kuching is good with digi line, then u can get tron.

if u use the digi line alr, but they wan other alternative for spare coz celcom, digi and maxis down always, then u can get onexox which is using celcom.

i from sibu sarawak. i am using tron(digi) and redone(celcom coverage).

if u interest in tron, u can watup me for further detail. 01150110637 coz i am tron agent. thanks

tron is reload rm10 for extend 1 year vaidity, not like other telco is pay rm30  or rmxx t activate for 1 year.

call rate for tron is 18 centper minutes

call between tron is free for 250 min per month.

Digi Super Long Life?

Depends which version... latest ones RM108, older ones RM68, lagi older ones RM38. You can only buy new SIM cards with newest version, SLL RM108.

Can't really take their existence seriously. Their dealer list is already comatose. The chances of a member of the public looking for a prepaid getting a Tron is virtually nil.

Hmmm .....

First, check the hotlink version. If its the old hotlink Xtra or Bagus then there is option for 365 days validity.

Try writing to Maxis? Since your parents don't use their phones that much to warrant the RM30/month top-up, can request Maxis to check their usage patterns then reconsider allowing them to switch to older plan with Validity 365?

Hope Maxis/Hotlink plan on keeping their elderly customers.

so the catch of 1GB per day is only valid for 12am-8am la, I know the super terrerr. used before, only can put sim card into hp then can have unlimited, even use USB modem to connect to laptop cannot entitle unlimited internet. anyway let me ponder about this SLL first.

btw I may go for 169$ 15GB per month digi plan sell by Nagflar.

i bought a basic GPS watch for my kids. It require all day 2G network connection (especially between 7AM to 6PM) for sending coordinate to server. this watch also can make and receive normal calls.

my requirement will be:
1. Long validity simcard (calls and data)
2. Basic internet connectivity, no need 4G or super speed one. furthermore the watch only supporting 2G.
3. preferably i can monitor the simcard status without plugging it into another phone. some provider have mobile app and web portal for this.
4. Usage per month: Calls (maybe less than 30 minutes), Data (minimum 200MB-300MB)

did some research, some provider support long validity only for the card, data still need to topup every month. so far, tunetalk +VIBE 200 meet this requirement, still looking for any other option

This is easy peasy .... you need ONEXOX with Season Pass Plus ... Simpack RM10 + Season Pass Plus RM60 ... enough data for 12 months with 383 minutes talktime. You can monitor data usage and subscriptions on selfcare portal or using MyXOX app.

And yes, you will also get 28 months initial validity and can extend some more if you want ...

Hi,

Need recommendations for my requirement:

1. Long validity
2. Use for WhatsApp only
3. Cheap to stay active with internet

Saw ONEXOX promo. Not quite understand on "Season Pass FAT/PLUS" thingy. Validity for Season Pass stated on website are only for 30 days which mean after 30 days I need to purchase another Season Pass FAT/PLUS to keep my internet working even with unused data? I'm aware regarding carry forward data part

I also looking at Unifi mobile since there is no expiry on the internet. Please advise

Sorry forgot to paste after she told me...

Hi, just found out that Malaysia had just changed law for card registration end of last month.. The seller need to scan original passport for registration. No photo or scan passport anymore. Had checked with few sellers.
They can't sell it to you.

It says "No limitations, no credit expiry, as long as your line is active."

what does it mean by "as your line is active"? need to keep topup?

how it's compared to xox?

Just play YouTube for 10 seconds on every 89th day of subscription... the SIM Starter pack has 3GB LTE quota... so, just play 10 seconds of YouTube vix on every 89th day after line is active...no need to buy any plans or data...

But if MNP-i, the SIM has no data quota...so, just buy the lowest plan for data highlighted below:

user posted image

As for XOX non-Black PRE-paid, the validity is 28 months. Good for backup secondary SIM 2 slot if the primary SIM 1 does not have coverage at certain location as XOX is under Axiata spectrums...Me has been using XOX non-Black PRE-paid for more than 28 months as SIM 2 slots and will use the Season Pass data quota as and when needed only...

In terms of coverage:
XOX is better than webe P1 at almost very locations in this planet...

which plan do u recommend for kids (or old folks) smart watch to track location and/or only make phone calls only? want something ultra low maintenance fee, i.e. don't want monthly fee or regular topups. Can't decide between the 2 telco... sweat.gif

Smart watch 2g only or what? If only 2g, both plan also not suitable. Both also riding on Celcom,Celcom 2g signal is terribly poor most of the time no service.

got 2 considerations:

1. 2G only (without data), any other suitable telco?

2. 3G/4G (voice with data), this is the one that is not sure to decide.

Smart watch cannot be used with webe P1 coz the watch most probably does not support Band 5/38/40 spectrums...but can try whether the watch can connect to Axiata spectrums or not...if the RM10 SIM Starter Pack of webe P1 does not work the smart watch, then we have 2 choices below...

Option 1 : BeOne PRE-paid @ RM10/month (unlimited all-network calls + 10GB 64kbps data + 1GB LTE). Auto renew/topup option available thru credit card.

Option 2 : XOX non-Black PRE-paid SP FAT 10M @ RM50 for 28 months (500MB/month taken from Season Pass 10GB "deposits"; 333 minutes "deposits" for all-network calls). Once 28 months validity is over, renew for 1 year validity @ RM25. Or, throw away that SIM card and get another brand new SIM for another 28 months validity.

Conclusion:
Me still recommend XOX non-Black coz can monitor the daily usage of calls and data thru the Android apps even though the SIM is in the smart watch... below is the app preview:

As the cheap smart watch uses cell tower triangulation for positioning i think (judging from the specs that doesn't comes with GPS etc stuffs but i could be wrong, tested with Digi Next15 ok but don't want monthly top up stuffs, monthly data also left unused too), and main uses is to call in/out, it doesn't really require data except the voice message function which only uses very very tiny data but non-essential. Initially it seems XOX's SP FAT 5M suitable for the usage, but disqualified because of monthly maintenance, as from XOX FAQ pointed out:

"21. What happens if I don’t top up my account?
Your account will be barred. If you don’t make a top up after 30 days, then you will be blocked. If you still don’t make any payment after another 30 days, then your account will be terminated."

Hence it makes Unify Bebas Prepaid's RM10 starter pack the right choice? but need to check the coverage to avoid issues. I hope #Bebas don't bar because of no top ups since by default it comes with unlimited validity right?

Edit: Or have i misread that the Bebas plan is actually RM35/mth? If that is the case, anyone pls recommend no monthly top up but long validity? no data is fine but call is a must.

XOX non-Black needs to have that 28 months validity if U don't want any topups. As shown below, the SP FAT 5M comes with 28 months validity:

The webe P1 starter pack does NOT have any calls quota:

Call quota can be purchased from options below:

The RM35 per month also no calls quota. So, just get the SIM starter pack, buy 200 minutes call quota and use forever because every time we make a call (as long as before 90 days validity expires), the validity will be reset to 90 days.

thank you for your detailed explanations

so it seems Unify Bebas RM10 starter pack (comes with 3GB data) with addon RM20 for 200mins call and unlimited validity already beat XOX offerings.

Just to be sure that Bebas basic plan do not require to buy that RM35/mth package or monthly topup right?

No need to buy that RM35/month. No need monthly topup as well.

Me have 20 SIMs Starter Pack back when webe P1 was launched (5 years ago...?). In it comes with 20GB quota, 10 mins call & 10 SMS. Till today, me still have 8 SIMs active without single sen topup.

The only thing that worries me on webe P1 is the compatibility with the smartwatch(es). Not sure how well those smartwatch(es) connecting to Axiata spectrums. How to set APN in smartwatch(es)? The webe P1 APN is "unifi". Is it stable for daily use, it is unknown for now. Someone edy tested using kid smartwatch and does not work(?). Take note that the webe P1 default spectrum is Band 5/38/40 which me believe is not available in those "cheap" smartwatches (except for Tim/Team Apple "iWatch" laaa...)

Looks like U hv to test-drive for RM17 (ie RM10 + RM7) expenditure.

Me's vote is still XOX non-Black for coverage and compatibility with any devices.
