No problem for me. I only ran into this problem when my available CL is <RM200. Even that, you can preset an amount to prevent it from charging RM200.

Can, before you insert your card you may press the preset button and key in any amount in the multiple of RM1 with no decimal place. It will only charge you whatever amount that you have key in only.

I recently called HLB customer service to downgrade from Wise Platinum to Wise Gold -savings of around MYR150 on annual fees. Had no luck in asking for fee waiver despite high card usage. So I figured, might as well minimize the pain because benefits are identical.
