good deal actually, because high chance that both KF and treat point will devalue their point in coming years

Be careful when using any Maybank card for foreign transactions, including VISA:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

https://www.maybank2u.com.my/iwov-resources...d_Agreement.pdf

1. All conversion is converted to US dollar first. I thought this was for Amex only. Turns out it applies for other cards as well
2. The VISA or Master conversion charge is 1.25% and not 1%. So it's a total of 2.25%. Their PDS and fee structure on the website is not updated. Still shows 1% for Visa and Master.

Been tracking my usage and I've been getting a charge of 2.5% to 2.9% when comparing it to XE rates. As a comparison, BigPay comparison in XE is about 0.3%. Looks like whatever treatpoints or miles also not worth the extra charge.
*
Since you raise the concern in this thread which focus on miles , I can tell you that it is definitely much more worth it to spend with visa than big pay

Dilemma whether paying 2.5% more worth for the miles? Since miles to economy is about 3 cents for every ringgit spent. Unless fly business. Feels like paying more to buy miles if I continue to use VI.
*
Not worth to pay for conversion if you aim for KF economy redemption

I'm quite concerned actually once border open the demand will be so high that it will be so much tougher to redeem tickets

I see, I am planning to save up to try the suite one day later but I am afraid within this 3/6 years time. The airline or maybank gonna devalue the conversion rate.

Just wondering any of you have successfully book the SIA suite class long haul flight (to london, US) with miles redemption before?

I read that it is highly unlikely.
*
Be flexible, travel on weekday, my travel pattern is like I will find the available ticket first, then only plan for the trip. Long haul F is possible, I have redeem SQ suite to newyork, sq plus Ana new a380F to Honolulu, sq new suite to paris( burned due to covid), 2 pax with F is possible, but if you travel with family with 4-5 person, then your luck is with busienss class

This year business 0 sales due to covid. No choice la cannot swipe business expenditures.
If everything goes back to normal, i’m targeting to get 2.5m TP p.a.

Now trying so hard, begging around to swipe also get 15k spending per month only.
Moreover, only 2/3 of my spending are with AMEX. Many places don’t accept.

Though late, but still felt lucky to have found you all via this thread last year, else I am still stuck with those stupid Citi PM/ UOB VI  smile.gif
Wow, really make me jelly. I hope I can plan my holiday like you all. I can hardly predict my schedule 1 year ahead. too bad.
Btw, did you get the connected suite on SQ? Do you call them to confirm before booking?

Secondly, do you book a separate flight to SG since we cannot book first class directly from penang/KL to those destinations.
*
You can select seat online for award booking, no need to call.

i am lucky to base at jb, if I am not wrong you need to call for mixed cabin booking, anyway most likely sq won’t fly any F product in coming 1 or 2 years, even after that we expect F product will be harder to get as they retire more A380 and delay deployment of 777X, and they won’t fly current 777 before their a350 and 787 filled up

Many hotels and airlines are in dire state hence selling their reward points/miles with bonus during this pandemic. It's unthinkable for SQ to do that last time.

Rule of thumb: Don't buy if you don't have confirmed travel
*
Actually hotel and airline points that are on sales recently dont look attractive as they regularly selling at these rate even before pandamic. But the lower elite requirement offered from hotel do looks attractive to go for status

how to have confirmed travels nowadays?....

validity for 3 years, so hopefully will be able to use by then....always will have travels as long as post covid new travel normals is not too difficult....
*
I would say leisure travel can back to normal as soon as end of next year, corporate travel might changed as company will now think some travel is unnecessary

Just curious, if your treat points not expiring soon (e.g. next 6 months), with an offer from KF or Asiamiles, why would you convert knowing that with this pandemic, airlines could well devalue the loyalty miles later when the pandemic is over as a lot of people are trying to redeem flights using miles while they are trying to recover.
*
You answer your own question alr, since you know airline is going to devalue the miles, and they giving some bonus now, why not. And who know when maybank going to devalue treat points again .

Correct also la but if you redeemed mean you got no choice already, plus no foreseeable travel plans. But if you haven't redeem, the choice is yours until maybank announce they are going to devalue their treat points or until your points expire.

Furthermore, even if the airlines devalue the airmiles, the question is, if it is still more than the rest of the TP catalog. Just our of the blue, 1.3M TP get you around 300k KF miles (incl. bonus miles) or a Dyson vacuum from the TP catalog.
If KF devalues miles worth an F class flight to Europe or the US down to a Dyson vacuum, so let it be. But the chances that that will happen are slim at best.
In the end, NEVER consider airmiles or any reward points an asset.
I am a frequent flyer for over 15 years now, and I have never seen any FFP that gave any interest or lowered mile requirements for flights.
*
1) there are high chances that maybank will devalue tp in next 3 years
2) when 300k KF can only used to redeem dyson hairdryer means sq sin to Europe first class revenue ticket will only selling at 5k

Confinement center is the one block of costs, but before, you start smiling when you earn 125k TP on the hospital bill, but then remember that that has been 25k RM of your own money that just swiped through the machine (if you cannot claim it back from your insurance).
But, maternity wards are full these days, seems the first MCO and the lack of new shows on Netflix helped to boost up the population numbers.
*
Got insurance policy can cover confinement center cost ah?

Hmm... I have stopped using my M2P since Oct and hence no statement was generated to me in Jan. However, I received statement for M2Cards and FCB VS and the yearly spending was at the last page. So, I assumed it is there. I checked back my last year's Jan statement for M2P and yes I have it on the last page.

Let's wait for others' comment as well.
*

For mine, It do appear at the bottom of jan statement for “2019” total spending , not sure if the spending amount is 2019 or 2020
