Huh ? How is that so ? More and more merchants would gladly accept AMEX in Malaysia as the interchange fee is now capped at 1.10%, down from 2.50% to 5% before the new policy came into effect.
That is the fact that most of us in this credit card thread are fully aware of.
Then again, some merchants are still oblivious of this fact and still wrongly believe that fee of accepting AMEX credit cards is way higher than of VIsa and MasterCard credit cards.
Besides the obvious Maybank credit card terminal, the credit card terminal from CIMB, RHB, Public Bank and UOB (with proper tagging to AMEX network) can accept AMEX credit cards.
Could it be that the cost of having the credit card terminal that can accept AMEX credit cards is higher than the ones that can only accept VIsa and MasterCard credit cards? Perhaps, that can explain the reluctance for some merchants to accept AMEX credit cards.
