macball,
We always want 'da best' don't we? Go for the iMAC if you can afford it - it's definitely a better buy than the Mac Mini *i think* though you're not gonna be able to use the iMAC as your door stopper or as paper weight |

macball,
If you can wait for the Standard Chartered credit card, I suggest you wait even if MacStudio's got Citibank instalment plan. The 3% surcharge may not be a lot but hey, if you wanna upgrade RAM or something like dat, the 3% may help quite a bit You have afterall waited this long for the iMac, might as well wait a lil while more, right? |

macball,
Don't be too disappointed. Just wait for news on your Stan Chart CC. Maybe might as well just apply for either AmBank or Maybank's CC too - just in case? |

zigzagger,
CIMB Bank CC instalment plan's available at Machines - hence no need to ma-fan ma-fan convert. Processing fee is 4% though, and it's for 12 months instalment I believe. |

If you don't have the $ to pay upfront cash, then i think to pay the additional RM6.66667 p/month is oklah - just go out less or watch 1 movie less or something like dat - otherwise, to save the $ then go ahead and pay cash *grins* So, have u oredi bought your iMAC?! |

macball,
It's a matter of time before u get the iMAC - we're all waiting for the pictures *grins* carpathia, M sure the processing fees are different depending on banks and merchants. But if you're planning to get an Apple, then yups, I do agree that Stan Chart offers pretty good 'rates'. Plus i don't think it's too difficult to get a CC from the banks so as long as one's working oredi |

madstone,
Yes, u are right. There are T&Cs attached to the instalment plans. For Citibank, there's a separate credit limit for purchases made under 'instalment' plan. Say for example, current credit limit entitled on the card is:- Credit Limit (Cash) = RM5000 (X) Max Limit (Instalment Plan) = RM5000 (Y) Total Credit Limit = RM10000 (X+Y) You can use up to a maximum of RM5k to buy Item X under the instalment plan. It shouldn't affect the Cash Credit Limit you're entitled to. Any value above RM5k will not be allowable, since limit's set at RM5000. Please also note that for Citibank CC holders, there's also a fee imposed should you decide to pay up your instalment plan ahead of time (i've no idea how much is chargeable so pls check with the bank). I hope all is clear on this. If not, best is to contact the bank and get information - different account holders have different limits and credit standing. |

goldfries,
I'm on the Clear Card too but I've got the X,Y,Z on my monthly bills. But I suppose those without the Y columns will basically use up the credit on their X column. Guess I should be lucky I've got X+Y = Z on my Citibank Clear card huh? Then again, I'm probably much older than u so ....... |

I don't need to utilise the Y part yet so no need to call Citibank. I think macball's not gonna go with Citibank, and I wouldn't too, at 9.88% interest. It's craZzzY *emoticon of eye popping out* |

madstone,
As your monthly income increases, the bank will revise your total credit limit, I'm sure. Up to now, I haven't been able to identify what the banks consider a good or a bad customer macball, I checked out instalment schemes available at MacAsia and it goes like this:- 1) Maybank - 6/12 months instalments, 2% processing fee 2) AmBank - 6/12 months instalments, 3% processing fee 3) OCBC Bank - 12 months instalments, 3% processing fee 4) Standard Chartered - 12 months instalments, RM30 processing fee [applicable for non-promo products only. If the product is under promo, a 2% processing fee is applicable] From looks of it, the most 'cost effective' way is to get your iMAC using a Stan Chart CC from MacAsia. Also, please take note instalment schemes are only available for purchases above RM1k. |
