Despite being in production for more than a decade, Sennheiser HD650 still holds its ground as one of the best bang for bucks headphones out there. musical n non fatiguing without that ear piercing trebles which r becoming more prominent in high end headphones these days.

also, 650 scales very well with amplification, the better the amp, the better it sounds. currently running it through a clone violectric v200/v800 stack. sounds way better than pairing it with o2/odac (my previous setup).

3rd time owning a hd650. definitely a keeper. i always had buyer's remorse/regret whenever i sold my previous hd650's for higher end headphones like beyer t1 n senn hd800.

Do you use it for gaming too?

yeap. hd800 is imo the best ive ever used for gaming due to that signature soundstage, but hd650 is pretty damn good as well.

Hi all, I had my HD598 for more than a year now. I really enjoy it so far, but I realize a weakness in the headphone, the driver feels slow when listening to fast songs.

Do you think upgrading to HD600/HD650 will improve the fast song problem? I listen to a variety of genres but mainly mainstream pop songs nowadays. I currently have a Centrance DACport LX, I assume I will need to get an amp if I upgrade to HD600/HD650? What do you guys think?
*
hd600/650 arent the fastest either. if u want fast, i'd say go for hifiman he-400 series. cheap planar magnetic headphones.

How does it compare to the HD600 for you?
*
Ive never owned hd600 before, but most of the reviews r stating the difference is minimal, with hd650 being a touch more warm sounding, just like hd800s is to the original hd800

the new successor to the HD650 = HD660S

Initial impressions on the web = HD650 with more bass

I just got My Sennheiser 598Cs. I change headset from Kingston Hyperx Cloud 2. Then I try with Fiio Q1 demo set at Jaben Kuching . What a sound.
So much better than my hearing aid sound quality and now I realize how bad my Cloud 2 sound quality. Word by word in song so damn clear.. Then I book Fiio E10k on the spot.
Hope can have good experience later and buy another headphone Superlux 688B since I read good review for that cheap headphone.
Now. I never buy gaming headset anymore. Sound clarity and bass so much good. Nearly crying.. I never hear sound like that using my hearing aid you know.

I wonder what people who invest expensive setup hear.. They must be in heaven..

598c is a great choice for the price. but if u can source from overseas, u can get either hd600 or hd650 at similar price as local brand new 598c.

just got the sheepskin pad from dekoni for my HD800. A noticeable wider soundstage and a tad tighter bass.
*
did u notice any other changes pairing with dekoni sheepskin?

How do you guys compare the sound of HD650 vs HD6XX and HD58X?

I only heard HD650 before and can only base on the sound from there.
*
hd6xx is the same as hd650. the difference is just the paint job.

hd58x is very similar sounding to HD660s, but with slightly more bass quantity therefore slightly less neutral (emphasis on slightly), otherwise hd58x is probably 95% of hd660s.

hd660s has more clarity (slightly less mids, less midbass), more extended bass (subbass) and highs than the hd650.

to me, hd660s/hd58x is the modern take on the classic hd650 sound, but if u are a HUGE fan of HD650's flawless mids (can be a bit shouty at times, but still no other headphones can compete in this department), u might not like hd660s as much because of the change in sound. of course, the sound difference isnt really that big actually, but it is noticeable.

Thanks for your info.

How do you compare HD58X’s highs? I loves highs and subbass for the crisp cymbals and clear bass notes of bass instruments

but im already satisfied with the sound of hd650 last time
*
then i think u'll like the HD58x as well.

ive been using ezipoz (official pos malaysia/ singapore post forwarding service) for my purchases from massdrop that have no straight shipping to malaysia.

for massdrop free local USA postage, it normally takes 4-5 working days from massdrop warehouse to ezipoz warehouse located in portland i think? and then an extra day or 2 for the item to be registered inside ezipoz account.
if you choose fast postage from usa to malaysia, it normally takes 7 working days +/-.

so total postage time is around 2 weeks+. The last time i purchased HD58x, i paid rm100+ like that for the total postage fee including insurance (i declared the item price under rm500).

Went to mass drop and have a look and found out that the Sehn HDXX model were not for sale in malaysia. bangwall.gif

HD6xx = HD650.
They r not for sale outside very limited number of countries because they do not want to cannibalize the sales of HD650.
