Same goes to me... It happens since 3 weeks ago till now. I can't open fb and instagram on my laptop when I'm using hotspot from my phone. However I can still browse fb and instagram using its own app on my phone, not to forget I can browse thorugh google chrome on android as well. I am thinking that since I'm using Hotlink EC/EM, there's a promotion about if you topup rm10, you got 7 days Free Internet Larut malam + Unlimited fb and whatsoever related to this, I think that affects the whole thing here. Hotlink needs to check this out.

Today when I tried to browse FB from my laptop via tethering hotspot, same issue. Only for FB. My other frequently browsed web is fine including youtube.
FYI, I purchase daily 1GB via apps. No issue browsing FB using my phone.
My daily quota still available.

Also having the exact same problem as several other users including azhar4478. And yes, issue still persists when tethering to other devices.

If I had known this was a problem I wouldn't have even purchased a pass, seeing as before buying a pass I could still access FB through tethering with no problems at all. If possible, I would rather have the FB 999GB pass disabled than not being able to access FB at all on my comp. Only speaking for myself though.

Pls note that, for existing Hotlink user, currently mobile internet daily pass came with Free FB 999GB. (Promo up to 31 Dec 2017 - as per current update)
This passes only can be access via mobile & not via tethering/hotspot.

Alternatively you may purchase weekly/monthly pass for such activities (until the promo ends)

#Hotlink you are missing the point here or misunderstand, we got the free fb 999gb pass and use on phone. We hotspot/tether UNABLE TO ACCESS fb website!

The free fb 999gb pass cannot be use via hotspot/tether, FINE, but we have the MONTHLY PASS! The problem is we unable to access fb website when hotspot/tether using our monthly pass quota???

If we did not buy the pass with free fb 999gb, we can access fb website when hotspot/tether.

So conclusion is, WITHOUT free fb 999gb, phone and hotspot/tether can access fb via app or website. WITH free fb 999gb, only phone fb app able to access, hotspot/tether can access any website except fb. Well done hotlink, our life just got worst!

I am understand well of what the problem, for an example
1. I bought 8GB monthly pass @ RM45.
2. I am getting 1GB for 1 hour daily free.
3. I am getting 8GB on weekends.
4. I am getting 999GB Facebook.

Due to No 4, any hotspot activities when intended to use the Facebook from the No 1, 2 and 3, accessing to FB denied.

But so sad #Hotlink until now still don't understand, and advise the following:

So glad i found this thread and it's not just me with this issue.

HOTLINK: Read peoples posts and don't just keep replying with the same response because you DO NOT understand what the people here are trying to tell you. Take the time to LISTEN. These people DON"T CARE about the 999GB facebook and would gladly GIVE IT AWAY. They don't mind if their facebook activity uses up their monthly quota, they just NEED some kind of facebook access via hotspot. If you block the 999GB for hotspot that's fine, THEY ARE OK WITH THAT, but you are blocking them completely and they can't use their regular data to access facebook.

SOLUTION: Allow facebook access through hotspot but have it count towards monthly quota and not 999GB allowance. PROBLEM WILL BE SOLVED.

Obviously, the network team and their managers forgot something very crucial: FB is also an identify provider for many other websites like Instagram, Vimeo, Spotify etc... Users CANNOT Sign-In with FB on their desktop browsers when using tethering.

DO NOT subscribe to HOTLINK FAST and the FB 999GB data plans.

Clearly, they don't test their new services before rolling them out. I suppose, they don't need to, business for them is probably.... easy.

actually got to hope lowyat pick this up and viral it. then they will do stg about it.

As a work around, you can use a VPN service. I needed one for netflix and amazon tv, and my insurance company, so I decided to sign up anyway, but it's not an ideal solution for someone who doesn't otherwise need a VPN.

well, my main line right now is umobile and i will mnp to maxis postpaid later. Hotlink is just my backup line.

Same issue here. On the phone I've got no problems with Facebook or Instagram. I've got 6GB left on my prepaid so it's not an issue. When I connect my laptop using Hotspot, I can access Internet except for Facebook and Instagram. I called the helpdesk and they suggested trying different browser, disconnecting and reconnecting etc. None of which works.

I'm paying 60RM/month just so I can work on the way and use the Hotspot. I'm a marketer so FB and IG are critically important to my work.

Has anyone found a solution?

Try Tor browser. Maxis don't bother to rectify the problem.

Maxis don't think it's a problem so why need rectify.

It allow unlimited Facebook on mobile only.

The issue seems resolved at the moment... dunno if this linkedin article has anything to do with it

I thought I'm the only one, but looks like this issue happens only when you tether your internet connection to access Facebook via laptop.

Still no solution on this matter? Been going on for months? I just recently bought hotlink prepaid but cant use fb when tathering via hotspot. Then found this thread. Are u able to assist us?
