Thought I'd pimp my current workhorse. It's a custom painted KUL ES-87 with 65g Purple Zealios and the Penumbra SA set.

I got tired of waiting for the R2. SA production is so backlogged right now, I don't think we'll ever see another run of this set. Shame, I could use another 10 of these

The R3 groupbuy is happening right now if you want to buy a complete set of Purple Zealios. IMO they are the best switches I've ever typed on, and I have pretty much every one of them Of course, it is personal preference.

Yeah, I buy stuff outside of Malaysia all the time. My KUL came from Indonesia, and the Penumbra set from America. I don't remember the shipping costs for my Purple Zealios, but they were part of the R2 groupbuy. ZealPC is very dependable, so you shouldn't have any problems buying from them.

Worth it if you can wait till November (+the usual Massdrop delays)

You could spend a little bit more and buy THE definitive Topre board aka the HHKB2 (Realforce owners don't kill me)

That said, I've heard some good things about the Kludge. Build quality might not be on par with others, but people say it's better to type on than Novatouch keys.

It is very good if you can get used to the layout. If it wasn't for Purple Zealios and SA caps I'd probably stick to a Topre board for the rest of my life.

I'm sure you could, but I have no experience with soldering LEDS. That said, are you sure a topre board is the right switch for you? They're very different from Reds.

Hands down the best tactile switch I've typed on. Buttery smooth, and has a wonderful clack that reminds me of the HHKB's thock. If you put SA caps on they feel like magic lol.

Rotating back to the HHKB for some writing work. Zealios are great all-around switches, but nothing compares to the snap of Topre domes

"Gaming" keyboards are considered tacky and overpriced in the Mechanical Keyboard community. There's nothing wrong with them, of course, but they're almost always limited to linear switches ie. Brown, Red.
