Will it brick? Since mine is the original international version. Not the china version flash to english. Kindly advise
*
If you flash china firmware into it, it might brick. But if you just flash international fw should not be a problem.

Hi sifus, I have a Xiaoyi dashcam (130 FOV version), and I'm wondering if it is safe to hardwire it (having read some guides here + have a voltage regulator set)?

I'm thinking about the heat that might cause the camera to fail quicker, or even burn etc. if I get unlucky.
*
What's your intention for hardwiring the Yi dashcam? Parking mode? Power?

If parking mode, Yi dashcam don't have this function and will continue to record when engine is off. This will drain your car battery and overheat the Yi dashcam.

If for power, can consider if you require to use the ciggie port for other things maybe.

Hi, thinking of using it for parking mode, I'm not so worried about the car battery drain as I have the voltage regulator thing (hopefully it works  tongue.gif ). Heat is what I'm more worried about. Seems like it's not too good of an idea to use it that way  sweat.gif

Currently have it plugged to my ciggy lighter.
*
But Yi dashcam don't have parking mode. It will record non stop.

Didn't really mind that it doesn't have parking mode. But after reading a bit more.. yeah, probably not a great idea to have it record 24/7.

Thanks for all the advice!  rclxms.gif
Gotcha. Probably gonna get myself another one with better functionalities in the future  flex.gif
*
Better consider a korean dashcam like Thinkware or Blackvue for true parking mode than use Yi dashcam for that function.

Reset the Yi dashcam and see?

So far Xiaomi dashcam doesn't support any parking mode right?
*

How does it works eh? Just keep recording from night till morning?
*
You'll need the 3 cables hardwiring kit. The cam will go to sleep when the engine is off. Wakes up when the g-sensor triggers to record as this powered by the internal battery or by the BATT cable on the hardwire kit which is connected to your car battery.

Does anyone have your car parked outdoors all the time? Can your yi dashcam tahan the heat? Do you take it out or keep it mounted even when parked? I'd like to get feedback on the long term durability on the dashcam as well as the mount, any impact to your SD card, etc.

Thank you in advance for your feedbacks
*
My wife's Yi dashcam can't charge after 1.5 years of parking outside every day.

The suction mount is roughly every month will fall down. Tape mount no such issue.

A good SD card has a lifespan for about 2-3 years.

how to remove the 70 mai label on video?
*
This is Yi dashcam thread. Not 70mai dashcam.

But if not mistaken, should have an option in the 70mai app when connected to the dashcam.

My Yi cam cannot charge anymore after 2 years and need to reset the time every time during start up. Where can i replace the internal battery?
I parked under sun everyday and never remove.

Not sure got such service or not.

I think better buy a new dashcam or you try to buy a battery online and DIY change.

Hi guys
I noticed that my Yi dashcam is only using 32GB of memory, even though I am using a 64GB card (Samsung Evo).
Can I know how do I configure the dashcam to utilize the full amount of 64GB in the card? I have tried to format the card in the PC and in the dashcam, but both didn't work, and it only uses up to 32GB.

Thanks alot!
*
Use the dashcam to format your MicroSD card instead of PC.

I think you could have formatted as a fat32 filesystem on your PC as it can only recognize max of 32GB only.

I suspect the batch the seller got is a bad batch with the out of focus lens.

I think still arguable for warranty exchange.

Did you check the serial against the Malaysia Yi website? If yes, then it only check if the product is through Malaysia distributor. The item could be genuine Yi imported directly from China by the seller.

It's good that the seller is local and responsive to your issue. They even allow you to change to new stock which is commendable.
*
I think she got China version as the box is in Chinese. Not international version.

Maybe can double check with Yi China site instead of international site as both is different.

Edit: i wrongly posted this original post on the dashcam thread. Sorry for duplicating. My dashcam is also a xiaoyi, should've posted this here first.
Can I open the mp4 files on my computer? Or is it exclusively open on the app only?

I tried to download a short trip video on my app, I think I might have not let it completely download to my phone. I think I turned off my car too soon.

When i tried to open the app again, i noticed the file was gone. I can find files an hour afterwards but not that time. Is it possible to recover it?

Sorry if this has been asked before.

I recently bought my second Xiaomi XiaoYi Yi car dashcam. everything is fine except that the device time and date doesn't continue running by itself. it stays at the last date and time before shutting down.

could that be a device/battery issue?
*
If the date and time are not correct every time when you start your car means that the battery in the dashcam can't hold a charge anymore.

It will affect saving the last video file when you off the engine and also the dashcam settings.

I see. does it mean the unit is faulty? or should i be 'charging' it longer and monitor? i actually haven't let it on for more than 15mins so far
*
This means the battery is dying or already dead.

Thanks guys. The seller responded to my refund request and shipped a replacement unit. Apparently there is a batch issue and many similar units have battery charging issue.

Kudos to seller Atcetera Solutions
