Hi sifus, I have a Xiaoyi dashcam (130 FOV version), and I'm wondering if it is safe to hardwire it (having read some guides here + have a voltage regulator set)?

I'm thinking about the heat that might cause the camera to fail quicker, or even burn etc. if I get unlucky.

Hi, thinking of using it for parking mode, I'm not so worried about the car battery drain as I have the voltage regulator thing (hopefully it works  ). Heat is what I'm more worried about. Seems like it's not too good of an idea to use it that way 

Currently have it plugged to my ciggy lighter.

Didn't really mind that it doesn't have parking mode. But after reading a bit more.. yeah, probably not a great idea to have it record 24/7.

Does anyone have your car parked outdoors all the time? Can your yi dashcam tahan the heat? Do you take it out or keep it mounted even when parked? I'd like to get feedback on the long term durability on the dashcam as well as the mount, any impact to your SD card, etc.

I noticed that my Yi dashcam is only using 32GB of memory, even though I am using a 64GB card (Samsung Evo).
Can I know how do I configure the dashcam to utilize the full amount of 64GB in the card? I have tried to format the card in the PC and in the dashcam, but both didn't work, and it only uses up to 32GB.

Did you check the serial against the Malaysia Yi website? If yes, then it only check if the product is through Malaysia distributor. The item could be genuine Yi imported directly from China by the seller.

It's good that the seller is local and responsive to your issue. They even allow you to change to new stock which is commendable.

Can I open the mp4 files on my computer? Or is it exclusively open on the app only?

I tried to download a short trip video on my app, I think I might have not let it completely download to my phone. I think I turned off my car too soon.

When i tried to open the app again, i noticed the file was gone. I can find files an hour afterwards but not that time. Is it possible to recover it?

I recently bought my second Xiaomi XiaoYi Yi car dashcam. everything is fine except that the device time and date doesn't continue running by itself. it stays at the last date and time before shutting down.

could that be a device/battery issue?

I see. does it mean the unit is faulty? or should i be 'charging' it longer and monitor? i actually haven't let it on for more than 15mins so far

Thanks guys. The seller responded to my refund request and shipped a replacement unit. Apparently there is a batch issue and many similar units have battery charging issue.
