Will it brick? Since mine is the original international version. Not the china version flash to english. Kindly advise

If you flash china firmware into it, it might brick. But if you just flash international fw should not be a problem.

Hi sifus, I have a Xiaoyi dashcam (130 FOV version), and I'm wondering if it is safe to hardwire it (having read some guides here + have a voltage regulator set)?

I'm thinking about the heat that might cause the camera to fail quicker, or even burn etc. if I get unlucky.

What's your intention for hardwiring the Yi dashcam? Parking mode? Power?

If parking mode, Yi dashcam don't have this function and will continue to record when engine is off. This will drain your car battery and overheat the Yi dashcam.

If for power, can consider if you require to use the ciggie port for other things maybe.

Hi, thinking of using it for parking mode, I'm not so worried about the car battery drain as I have the voltage regulator thing (hopefully it works tongue.gif ). Heat is what I'm more worried about. Seems like it's not too good of an idea to use it that way sweat.gif

Currently have it plugged to my ciggy lighter.

Didn't really mind that it doesn't have parking mode. But after reading a bit more.. yeah, probably not a great idea to have it record 24/7.

Thanks for all the advice! rclxms.gif

Better consider a korean dashcam like Thinkware or Blackvue for true parking mode than use Yi dashcam for that function.

Just bought 2 units of yi smart Dashcam. Anyone know how to make it display time after screen timeout? 1 unit don't show time even after several minute of running. Weird.

Since you have 2 of the same unit, if the other giving odd behavior even after following same sequence...better contact seller.

Personally, I've had 2 separate incidents of this device failing right out of the box after recommended them to friend/relative (both from different seller & platform). They had replacement from seller thereafter.

I received the xiaoyi dashcam as my christmas present.

1920x1080p @ 30fps
1920x1080p @ 60fps
2304x1296p @ 30fps

Which setting should I actually go for?
I tried 2304x1296p @ 30fps but couldn't really see the number plate clearly.
