Hi,

About 95% set on getting an Xbox360. tongue.gif

Thing is, what are the different packages right now?

I've read the sticky above and have decided to get a Premium (I'm assuming Asian is best), but have also read about people mentioning Limited and DOA4 etc etc.

Any idea which I should go for (and more bang for buck, obviously tongue.gif)?

Also, if I'm an RPG buff, is the Xbox360 really such a good choice?

Thanks a bunch.

there are a few bundles for asian set

DOA4 bundle - premium + game + xtra controller
DOAX2 bundle - premium + game + ??
GeOW bundle - premium + game + sticker

all also good bundles. check with the shops for price.

wRPG - oblivion, mass effect
jRPGs - blue dragon (classic dragonquest-like rpg), lost oddysey, chopin trust bell, infinite discovery, etc.

hopefully more support will come soon. SqEnix pls make some 360 jRPGs!

Thanks for the reply, Acougan.

Question - what is DOAX2 and GeOW? DOA4 is Dead or Alive 4, right?

Also, what is wRPG? I am assuming jRPG is Japanese RPG, right?

How is the quality of the RPG mentioned? Are they comparable to games like Neverwinter on the PC and Wildarms/Suikoden on the PS?

Also, I've read that certain Xbox games are backward compatible. Anyone know of any old Xbox RPGs that are?

Thanks a lot!

haha, Dead or Alive Extreme 2 and Gears Of War! read the threads for impressions!

western RPG i not very familiar, although many here says oblivion is good.

honestly regarding jRPGs, nobody knows the future. with the Wii being much more affordable & popular in japan, maybe the developers will concentrate on Wii more than ps3 or 360.

so far, i playing [eM] eNCHANT arM & blue dragon. quality wise, very similar to good ps2 jRPGS. again, read the threads for impressions!

backwards compatibility for NTSC/J Asian sets

wRPG = Western RPG
GeOW = Gears of War
DOAX2 = Dead or Alive Xtreme 2

Oblivion is huge. The environment is massive. As for the jRPG, Lost Odyssey is shaping up to look like an epic title. Blue Dragon's characters are designed by Akira Toriyama and so far, the reviews have been quite positive.

Fable is backward compatible. Which is the only RPG I actually ever played on the XBOX tongue.gif

Hey, thanks a lot for the impressions and explanations!

I'm quite keen on getting Gears of War as well . . . too bad the package doesn't come with another controller but only a sticker. tongue.gif

Oblivion sounds reeeaaally interesting now . . .

Oh, any idea about hooking up the Xbox to my Dell 20"widescreen? I've read about directly hooking it up, but I was wondering if I could get a VGA box (don't know what its really called), that allows me to switch between 2 different inputs without having to unplug and re-plug. Hmmm, or can I actually use the Dell's input1 for the PC and input2 for the Xbox? Sorry if this is really obvious . . .

Oblivion will let you enjoy the 360 for a long time just with that one game. GoW is fun yeah especially with Live, but Oblivion can be played offline and completing the game means getting all the achievements(1000 GamerScore). If you know you're gonna be short on cash after buying the bundle it won't be worth it buying a game you finish off in a few days.

Played KOTOR for all of 10 mins. Not a big Star Wars fan so the whole thing didn't really interest me. Not too big of a sci-fi fella.

I prefer medieval.

But the only package with the extra controller is the DOA game right? The one with skimpy bikini girls? tongue.gif Not much interest in that, unfortunately . . .

Good point.

Can Oblivion be played online as well?

Also, is the 20Gb (13Gb usable) enough? Are there any other stuff that I would actually need apart from whats included in the Premium package? Do I need the HDDVD thing if I don't intend to watch DVDs on it?

Thanks again.

Oblivion has no online mode if I am not mistaken.

13GB in total is actually usable, provided you do not go onto the US marketplace and start downloading TV series. Other than that, it is fine. You will probably download the occasional trailers which you can delete later.

You can watch normal DVD without the add-on. The add-on is only for watching High Def DVDs, which if you are not bothered, then you don't need to purchase it.

Thanks again, zio.

Are any of the mentioned RPG games online capable? Kind of like the old Diablo or WoW?

Thanks.

The 360 does have MMORPG-ish stuff such as Final Fantasy Online and Phantasy Star Online.

I don't think any of the mentioned RPGs have an online mode, but I am no expert on the subject. I don't have any RPG games on the 360 at the moment. tongue.gif

Oblivion is an absolutely must get. You'd have to be crazy (or just not very interested in RPGs) to not play Oblivion. There was a time when I put at least 14 hours a day into that game!

Yeah, you can actually. It can be achieve if you use DVI for your PC and VGA for your XBOX.
There is a button on the monitor to let u switch between input, if you got the 2007wfp, it support up to 4 different input, which is DVI, VGA, S-video and composite.

There is already a thread in the xbox section dedicated to discuss about hooking up ur xbox with a monitor. http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/277579

Hope this help.

during my last day of playing oblivion (before the stupid darn fishing autmn update kill it), it is like this....friday night, play from 8PM until 4AM. continue saturday morning from 10 AM to 6 PM, going to the movie with my wife (at that time still my fiance), and then play again from 12AM to 6AM. hahaha. last time i play like that is when i played neverwinter nights.

for me, oblivion is one of the most beautiful graphics in x360. so, better dont play because you will be addicted to the game.

but, if you decide to play it, dont say we never warn you about the consequences tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif
