yupe.. S2000 is really a nice set of speaker.. can be considered bookshelf quality.. im happy with its performance.. actually it doesnt lack bass, just turn the volume to around 80%, you definately feel the bass.. it came with a 5.5 inch mid, thus enable it to play pretty decent bass note.. if you compared it to Aego, its more relaxing to listen to for long hours becos it wasnt as pointy as Aego..
Im happy with my set...

Edifier should come up with a single subwoofer design.. Can use it to pair with S2000...

I got S2000 for RM999 during PCFAIR promo. I think its worth every penny. It sounded very good, and can be played loud without distortion. My bro Aego M sounds good too but doesnt play loud very well. Thats has something to do with the sub being too weak. When you play at normal volume, it blends in very well. But once you go loud, the sub is overpowered by the sattelite. Meanwhile, S2000 slightly lack bass when you play at low-to-moderate. But as you turn up the volume, the bass become more apparent and solid.
As for MX5021, its worth every penny too. Using it b4 upgraded to S2000. The bass is good and the sattelites sound decent enough for a 2.5inches drivers. The weak point of it lies with the sattelites as do many other MM speaker which utilises less than 3inches drivers. Some male singers vocals sounded so thin that it sounded very feminine. Normal cone speaker like Aego or CS21 sounded a lot better than MX5021 when you play western rock song where the male vocal tends to be bassy.

QUOTE(Aquanox28 @ Jan 19 2007, 11:18 AM) Thanks for the reply Btw, does it works well without the amp that is bundled together? Does it sound as good as the bundled amp if I add in an aftermarket amp? Need to know it cause S2000 is extra RM500 more than S2000V. Thanks. LOL 2000V cant compared to S2000 lar. It sounded more like a bookshelf than normal multimedia speaker. Some may prefer the aggresive sound of multimedia speaker but S2000 sounded a bit more smoother, and somewhat laid back due to its bigger drivers used. I like it due to its fuller sound although it wont produce the kind of bass you will get with a full blown sub like MX5021 or Klipsch/Logitech. Ppl who like boom boom boom wont appreciate it. Just haf to turn the volume pass 50% and then listen to it... nice.... it still play decent bass note but doesnt exeggerate. Goto Edifier showroom to try. The clarity is good. You dont compare the speaker drivers alone, do you? S2000 is better bcos it came with an external amp with tweaked crossover circuit for its sound characteristic. S2000V on the other hand just haf a normal amp to power it up. Just haf to audition it in Edifier showroom to hear the difference yourself.
If you are gonna pay RM999 for a S2000V, then I suggest u wait until pcfair. I think Edifier gonna make an offer again for S2000 at Rm999. I bought mine for that price plus a cheap Edifier headphoneas free gift.

Just now I went Midi Specialist and pass-by Edifier.
Why MK2 so highly rated anyway? Too much bass anyway, making the sattelite sound missing/weak. MX5021 sounds much more balance IMO.

Port as in the port where most subwoofer pump air out when thumping?
When I was mad with car audio lastime, was told port or no port does nothing to the price. When no port, bass sounded less powerful/thumping but more solid/tight. But when u meet basshead, they want more thumping power, thus this lead to porting. They got certain formula to calculate. If done right, not only porting is more powerful, it can achieve the same SQ of a non ported sub.
Correct me if Im wrong... long time din touch audio stuff...

Even though I sold off my MX5021 liao, I still think its a pretty decent speaker. The cone they used is the main reason why it sound a little different to the normal cone found in most speaker. It makes it sound brighter but that can be adjusted. And it can play loud too.
If I were to compare 2.1 to 5021, I will choose 5021 cos of the sound signature it plays. Its sound different from other speaker I used b4 such as ACS45.1, ACS48, ATP3.
Its best you go n tried it out yourself... u can test the Edifier in their showroom and 5021 in ALL IT.

S2000 is RM1499 retail price. I think I saw someone bulk edifier speakers including S2000 for RM1299 which is RM200 cheaper.
If you like boom boom boom, then dont bother with it. If you enjoy listening music, its nice... just turn it on pass 50%... it sounded best when loud but not overly loud. Somewhere around 50~60% of the max volume.

Edifier is getting so popular that I'm starting to feel slight fanboy'ism whenever Edifier name pops up.
