after passing the RAE, what other things need to be done? and what does it mean by "the sketch of aerial(s) to be used"? Anybody got examples? And if one is to apply for the callsign, without owning the radio himself is that possible? what form(s) should be filled then?

Left your radio/antenna/setup empty .. they're not needed for amateur application..

so, what youre saying is that i only need to fill in the callsign application form, the 9M recommendation and the statutory declaration? without filling the application for apparatus assignment(s) form?

Nope, you need to fill in the Apparatus Assignment form, only Sect 1, 2, 6 & 7 + all requested attachments minus the sketch of ariel .. 3,4,5 are for applying a specific AA for repeaters etc.

well the thing is, i dont know anyone involved in amateur radio there and what more to say a 9m holder. i got myself involved in this field on a personal basis with nobody guiding me but books and fortunately i passed the test. thus nobody in my social circle got any idea (even on the existence of) amateur radio. so im planning to get the signature here and submit the form in KCH actually. yea, i do plan to get a 9W8 callsign btw. ^^

as far as im informed, ive only got to know few amateur radio clubs in sabah, but not quite in sarawak. maybe its a tightly-knit society and the general public is yet to know of their existence, not much of a publicity. the mcmc office is in kuching of course.

how did i found out this field? just browsing stuffs here and there back in 06. but by then i only knew of the name and nothing else actually. just got hold of some reading materials from net and bookstores last year so i took the exam in dec. mustve been luck that i passed it in my first attempt, but honestly speaking my knowledge are limited to merely theoretical. biggrin.gif

Added on May 25, 2010, 1:41 amyea, thats what thought xD but which one is first? wink.gif a mobile perhaps, eh? wink.gif its better if it can be portable as well with its own internal power source like FT-817, FT-897 and/or IC 703. Any other models which one can hook up with power supply without jeopardizing its portability (and practicality)? i mean, on foot trekking and camping biggrin.gif
