there's a fellow in Lelong or Buysell that's selling radio sets at a reasonable price... but better check with him first, cos officially u need a license in order to buy the set. for seconds, maybe you should try the amateur radio forums
To all HALF-BAKED HAM (aka misled amateur radio licence holders)......Any persons without a valid amateur radio licence found in posession of amateur radio equipment capable of transmitting will be deemed to have contravened the law. If they are in possession of equipment capable of only monitoring and not transmitting then they would have also contravened the law of having possession of a scanner, which is illegal in Malaysia.
The problem with half-baked hams of today is that they think they know a lot about the hobby but they dont know what their licence allows them to do.
Selling of amateur radio equipment to non-amateur radio licence holders are an offence. Selling of non-type approved amateur radio equipment without a valid telecommunications trade licence is an offence. Importing amateur radio equipment without SIRIM approval is also an offence.
To those illegal sellers in Lelong, Lowyat and those owning their personal webpage promoting open and illegal sales of amateur radio equipment, please be aware that your actions are being monitored by the authorities and it will only be time determined when the authorities would pay you a visit for your irresponsible actions.
Please refer to SURUHANJAYA KOMUNIKASI DAN MULTIMEDIA MALAYSIA webpage http://skmm.gov.my or email them for advice.
