hi bro, i have some doubt here abt maximum wattage output...
for 477mhz range, is it maximum wattage output up to 1 watt only for all the radio? or it just limited the family radio but not for professional radio? as i know, motorola malaysia produce GP2100, GP328, etc... the factory settings of output voltage wattage are 4 watt for 477mhz range... if our MCMC have the rules that maximum output only 1 watt but why motorola malaysia can product 4 watt product?
but as i tested with GP2100 and TK3107 with 4 watt, the maximum coverage are only up to 2-3km at ground level only... imagine 1 watt only, i think within 1 km also problem...
anyone can assist me to clear my doubts?
According to MCMC Bandplan, for 477MHZ Citizen Band PRS(public radio service), 477.0125MHz to 477.4875MHz, the Maximum (ERIP) is 5W with 12.5MHz spacing. , Then from 477.5250 to 477.9875MHz, the maximum EIRP is 0.5W with 12,5 spacing.for 477mhz range, is it maximum wattage output up to 1 watt only for all the radio? or it just limited the family radio but not for professional radio? as i know, motorola malaysia produce GP2100, GP328, etc... the factory settings of output voltage wattage are 4 watt for 477mhz range... if our MCMC have the rules that maximum output only 1 watt but why motorola malaysia can product 4 watt product?
anyone can assist me to clear my doubts?
Motorola not only produce 4W, But we also produce 125W,25W,40W...and lot more.Bear in mind that motorola in penang it doesn't mean that the radio produce is mean for malaysia market, it is for rest of the world (for export). We manufactured alot of radio, those gp328 in in the WARIS family radio, WARIS famiy radio include gp328,gp328plus,gp338 in US, they called HT750 or in UK they called GP340.
I curious to know why ppl in low yat or else where bother about the range like how many KM..This is a very funny question from professional point of view.Of course, The range of the transmission depend on terrain,if in dessert where no obstruction, you can have greater range, but if you are in urban area where there is lot of building, the range will be decrease. this is due to a lot of reason which include rayleigh fading, RF interference and etc. Btw, those China TK3107 in malaysia market is a fake kenwood. Do you know how much a genuine tk3107 from kenwood cost ? RM900+ for one unit. If a pair cost around RM1800. At first i also curious why the price is diffrence a lot, it is until then when i test the fake 3107 using Marconi 2945A communication tester, realized that the output power is only at 3.5W as they claimed 4W. and the circuit board, the VCO, RF section is poorly shield.
So back to the question, if you are willing to spend rm900 to 1000 for gp328 for frs then is ok, but those motorola talkabout 1w will enough for family use. I also do not understand whey ppl in this forum keep saying 1W is useless, But before say somthing bad, try to think of other's view first. PPl set 1W must have their reason. they set 1w if for frequency reuse purpose, It is purposely to make the talking distance small, so that everone can use the spectrum. If you transmit at 4W, then your nearby people can't use the spectrum anymore. If you still cannot understand, pls google online about frequency reuse.
to gkl83, pls do not listen to those stupid comment in this forum. For those who post stupid answer, they are *******, they mislead other ppl, give wrong information and on the other hand, they do not even have basic RF knowledge, although they have the so called AA.
finally why ppl in this forum keep asking the range of walkie talkie range, how far you want? from padang besar to johor bharu coverage with walkie talkie ? if u want that, then pls come to motorola penang and i will discuss with you. We have that solution, but will you willing to pay for the price ???
