hav u guys heard of the Tmn Rekreasi Air Panas (TRAP) hotspring in Sungkai ? well i juz went there 2 days ago... n its a nice place worth visiting. biggrin.gif

for juz rm5, u can relax urself in the hotspring water that's good for ur health. its really feel great when u dip urself in the pool, or walk around the 'healthy walkway' (those walkway with egg shaped stones... what u cal that ah ? tongue.gif ) flowing with hot water. u can even boil some eggs there for ur picnic. laugh.gif

if u going by group, u can book those individual pools that cost rm25 for an hour. good if u wanna hav some privacy, like mayb bath naked... brows.gif tongue.gif

n apart from from the 'hot' pools, there is a 'cool' themepark-like pool for u to chill out too. although u hav to pay extra for it... hmm.gif

direction :
around 1.5 hour drive from KL. Juz use the highway toward Ipoh, n u'll see an exit of 'Sungkai'. After the toll, turn left by the traffic light. u'll see small signboards along the way to direct u to there. juz keep ur eyes for the word 'TRAP'. laugh.gif

for those who never been to there yet, give it a try ! biggrin.gif

*due to my digicam ran out of battery, i didn't manage to snap any pic. too bad. sad.gif

I went there once before. It was awesome. Easily one of the best hot spring in the country. The amenities are well maintained and very clean, unlike other hot spring or waterfalls. Well managed by Felda Berhad.

Need some info because planning to drop by there

1. How far is it from the sungkai toll?
2. What time they open until?
3. How much per person

Thanks a lot!

I have been here too. Good place to relax urself out there.

If travel from KL, you go to North South Highway heading towards Ipoh direction. Sungkai Toll Exit is approximately 375km (the sign on the North South highway). It is after the Slim River toll. Once you exited from Sungkai toll, you will see the road sign to this area, TRAP, which is on the left side of the main road. Just follow the road sign and it will lead you there. It will take you less than 2 hours drive from KL to TRAP. This place is located at Perak.

Hope you can arrange a trip there soon!! smile.gif

actually this what anyone should do if they are going into sungkai and sg klah.

you dont go to TRAP first.

once you reach the simpang tiga, in which right to go to TRAP, go straight.

after some orang asli house theres road on the left leading to muara tesong.

dont worry as its tar until the edge of the river. now whats good about this place

is that theres 2 rivers joined together. one is hot while the other is cold.

i love bathing in the middle....its really cool. after jumping and swimming against the current etc,

then you go for a dip in TRAP. wah the feeling of muscle relaxing againts the hot spring.....

some of friend just berendam lama lama among the big stones in the cold river, stuff newspaper

on the cars seat, drive straight to TRAP run and dip into the hot water....hahahahaha crazy but its fun!!

just take north and south until sungkai exit.
after that take left at the traffic light after toll.

about 100m i think, take another left. there some warung or shops at the left.

follow the road, its bit small until you reach felda sg klah, in which the road goes uphill and theres a mosque.
take a left, you will see school on your left and then another left at the simpang tiga.

bout 20m take a right. you will not miss it, theres signboard an more warungs.

after that its the long road inside. after a while you will meet a simpang, right for TRAP and straight
for muara tesong and the dam. if i am not mistaken.

river tracking up into the dam from muara tesong is quite cool too.

Sungkai Hot Springs is a great place to go to but best to go early in the morning .. Reach about 8am and you get to see the mist rising from the cool morning air .. walk along the bridge walk and there is a gazebo where u can sit under for a natural "sauna" feel .

Bring some food ... though you're actually not allowed to .. but I always sneak in stuff cos the food really sucks there .

There is a cold pool too ... which channels the water from the waterfalls nearby .. you wanna know how cold the water really is go to the back of the slide .. and there is a water pump somewhere behind .. ( you can hear the pump ) put ur hand in .. its chilling cold .. haha

Apparently the deep rooted plants near the egg boiling area has detox properties ... pluck the green shoots and boil in water hot water ... drink like you would drink your normal tea ..

Make friends with the guys working there and if they are in a good mood .. and its durian season .. the staff will go hunt and bring durians for u ... super yummy durians there ...

ok, sorry for telling you all so late ya, but that is something you all should know about this TRAP...

I staying nearby there and been there regulary, so i knew a things or two about there.

The things is, it is natuaral hot water from the ground, but it is only in the place you see got smoke, where you boil egg, and the big middle pool only. The private place that you all talking and like about is they pump into there using the host connecting down there.

Since it is not natural, it cant auto generate the water from the ground so they cant keep changing the water. And the staff there told me they only change once per day, every morning every day. ( sometimes didnt also during peak season )

As you know, the small pool is so small, the water in the pool wont be change till the next day and imagine all the people that have been soaking there for whole day before you, and you guys talking about soaking at night, imagine how many person using that before.

For me, my idea is, if really want to go, go early in the morning, soak before other people do. then the places is really great to enjoy yourself.

Just got back from the sungai klah today ...

nice improvements to the private jacuzzi area but a bit disappointed with the price increase.... jacuzzi used to be like RM25 now its RM75 , entrance was RM5 now its RM10...

Overall , i'd still have to say its great to know that this is one tourist attraction that keeps improving instead of the normal degration we have with other tourist spots

On the weekend, for 10 bucks you get this 4 grand activities :

1) soak in a tepid 35 degree water with a variable 2m x 2m personal space.
Marvel at things that floats in the pool and try to guess whether it is a new organism. Mistakenly dunked your head in the water and realised now the thing that floats in the water is now stuck in your hair.

2) Go soak your leg in some really hot water. Optimistically wished that the water is hot enough to kill whatever nasties that lurks there. Look around and count how many diabetic feet / corn feet / swelled feet are sharing the same pool. Do the same wishing again.

3) Line up to get your eggs cooked. No, chicken eggs. So yeah, guys don't worry about it. So there's two baskets, two dozen families lining up to use the said basket. And woe betides those who shared baskets.

4) Mountain spring pool. There's a nice slide there, do have a go. You go up the slide, you wosh down, stand around at the bottom trying to pull up your pants and proceed to get kicked by the next incoming funky kid that slide down. if you're that unlucky you get it straight in the balls.

hey, at least it's all natural pool. I didn't smell chlorine.
Well, I didn't smell urine either.
But who doesn't pee in the pool ?

p.s : u better know how to swim at the whatever mountain pool. the lifeguard tower is built as an afterthought.

p.p.s : oh, there's cops around there. their job ? make sure you don't bring any outside food in. at first i ain't that happy with this, ya know, cops checking for food instead for drugs or guns .. Well, after i saw how the kids there eat their finger food AT the pool, you just gotta say, bless these cops.

dont go over weekend or public holiday or school holiday,
its d*#m packed!

take one day off, travel from kl or anywhere you are, drive to sungkai and enjoy the place on weekday.

but if you really dont have the off on weekdays and plan to go on weekend , do not come on sunday! Come on saturday and pls be early as possible as.

reason is that, they cleanup the pools especially the hot pool somewhere late firday and very early on saturday (this is what my fren from bidor told me, he is a frequent visitor to this place)

No-lah..not dirty at all.. probably he is refering to the mountain spring pool which is not hot spring..The water from the spring probably not crystal clear, thus looks greyish & u can't see bottom..well u goto hot spring not to experience cold pool isn't it? hmm.gif

The hot pools & streams are virtually clean & certain pools are actually very hot..temp can exceed 50C. The hottest part is the egg boiling spot wth temperature ~100C!! shocking.gif ...I was there during christmas day...I just luv the middle stream wth temp 44C...damn hot..for whole body soak, I choose the 2 small pools beside the stream ~35C

This for sure is the hottest & largest Hot spring I ever been in Malaysia.. rclxms.gif

Just beware of the reflexology place where you can walk and drench your feet in the hot water and stuff...

Last time I went there on a school trip, I saw a kid pee-d in it

The bacteria is already gone anyway since its hot water, but you know the feeling... sweat.gif

My personal view..going to a hot spring is to experience hot spriong not cold water..For cold stream waterm I think going to those stream or river wth crystal clear water much better than the greying seeing no bottom & looks dirty cold pool at TRAP.. biggrin.gif ..The hot spring is good & having different pools to suit your heat endurance...

The cool huge public swimming pool (not hot spring) the water is muddy! However for other hot spring pools, it's OK they label all those pools wth marking of diff temperature from ~ 28C up to 45C if I'm not mistaken.. and the spotlite of the hot springs is the hottest spot wth temperature >100C! good for boiling egg.

This spot probably the hottest spring water in Malaysia

Just came back from TRAP yesterday.. so far everything OK, the cool pool already well maintain, not really dirty. But due to public holiday. so many people come there, not privacy at all. For Hot Pool, there are look clean but a lot of green alga there due to mineral inside the water...

went there last weekend.. i think 2D1N is the most optimum time frame to be here... the large hot pool is refreshing and the best part is at where they pump in the hot water... nice place,  best time is late evening and early morning where the breeze is cool, and you get to soak yourself in the warm water... the water is flowing n i bet no chlorine is added, feels different from the cold pool...

Another place to be here is at the Perhilitan Conservation area.... instead of turning left after PLUS, turn right, after 1 km turn left (follow the signboard) then another 7km driving inside... same distance as TRAP from mainroad...bad news is open only from 8.30 to 12.00, lazy gomen... worker just follow.. what to do
*
thanks for the direction tips!!
the opening time is 8.30am to 12pm or 12midnight?

They have pretty good villas to be rented out, with two rooms, kitchen and living room. Last time used to be about Rm600 per night, but now increased to about RM800 or so. Well-kept, comfortable and spacious. With a private hot springs pool in your own yard.

Then they added some hotel rooms (last I remembered was about RM150 or so per night, or close to Rm200... could not rmbr) for two,
so that you can stay a night if you wish.

Since the place can be a bit deserted, there's pretty much nothing to do at night. Unless you do an excursion to Teluk Intan for CCF and other hawker food. Gulam Rasul has nasi kandar with fried chicken (though sometimes can be a bit dry), and Mastan Ghani has Mee Rojak.
Buy back from biscuits from the various biscuit shops there; Ta Sin Guan Tin being my personal fav.

Of course, the Tiger head brand (Sin Joo Heang) is famous and originated from T.Intan.

Pun Chun's duck noodles though sometimes attract unfavourable reviews, the dry version (comes with a side of herbal duck drumstick in soup) is still one of the better ones. Buy some petai, and whatever fruits that are in season from the stalls outside of the shop if you wish. Remember to bargain.

Sungkai town (very small) has a restaurant named Choy Kee that serves braised pig's trotters with choy sum. Been eating this since I was a kid; grandparents from Sungkai.

Slim River meanwhile, has this restaurant that serves claypot steamed fishes; the most popular being Tapah fish or Lim Yue (correct me if I am wrong). Fook Sing's the name, though the place might have moved since then.

There is one hot spring resort that I went before when I was younger and I want to go there again but I forgot the name of the place. It is like some kind of resort or water theme park.
We can immerse our body into the hot springs, and we can also boil eggs in one specific pool there and if I am not forgotten, there is also a big pool where the water is only slightly warm and we can play slides there, like at Sunway Lagoon kind of...
Can someone tell me where is that place?

Thanks friends! I think this is it.
By the way, the thread @darkdevilrey gave mentioned that we can actually set a tent there and stay a night?
Um, how is it actually?
Is it allowed to do so?
