my advice is probably the RM700 u use it for a reasonable good HU/player flex.gif ....then save up more for a speaker set... smile.gif

are u using OEM/standard player/speaker setup blink.gif ? if u are, then chances are u will feel some difference when u changed to aftermarket HUs connected to current standard speakers.... rclxms.gif

let us know man... cheers.gif

my current speakers set only left one side emitting sound. and itself is totally a suck lousy oem speaker (much poorer than my handphone speaker tongue.gif)

well my player also half spoil, which is an ancient alpine player. CD lens spoiled but FM still ok.

basically audio system for car can be easily described by this "got sound = no sound"

so i wanna change the speaker and player.

RM700 can get a lot of reasonable speakers bro, not high end ones ler but shud be justified for ur ears... rclxms.gif

anyway, need to know which speakers u wanna change first, front doors one or rear speakers rolleyes.gif ? suggest concentrate front setup first, get a component set which will come with a pair of 6.5 inch mid bass speakers and a pair of tweeters, not forgetting a pair of passive crossovers (normally comes along the whole component set) that will direct the rite frequency to tweeter and midbass speakers... rclxm9.gif

wat kind of music u used to listen icon_rolleyes.gif ?.....need all this info before recommending... smile.gif

wow expert...
ok, i would like to change my rear speaker and hopefully plus 2 tweeters infront. what is crossover? how much will it cost ?

i like sentimental songs, like hotel california, mariah karey - without you, kitaro songs, etc. these are songs with clear soft and solid bass (not tough bass & no distortion).

for me i would go for a new HU first then i will consider the front speakers...

cuz FM sound quality is @#$%&*... and i would like my HU to play CD tht sounded much much better... as for the front speakers try looking for used ones if you are on budget...

for your music choices... try look for japanese stuff... alpine, eclipse etc etc... they would do a great job for your preference...

cheers....

RM 700 for component... can refer Shocker topic..
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/375621/+60

Just now you say u want clear sound, soft and solid bass.
but yours setup might not able statisfy what you mention above.
Normally component install at front door(mid bass at door & tweeter at dashboard)...but the bass might not solid...
If want solid bass... you need subwoofer power by amp.

need to ask which one of ur right speakers spoilt cool2.gif ? is it the front one at door or rear one behind back seat? if its in da back seat one, disconnect both those speakers first and concentrate the front setup first (this will give u some balance in ur staging)....then go to rear speakers thumbup.gif ....or else just change those defective ones first.... tongue.gif

since ur CD player is not functioning, then seeing from ur music selection, u must be listening to to mixFM and light & easy isnt it laugh.gif ?

therefore, upgrade like wat craziechild said, listening to FM radio to see if speakers are good or not is not recommended yawn.gif, plus if u changed ur HU to the one supporting CD/MP3/WMA, u can really listen to those music u like instead of waiting for radios to put those songs u listen when they feel like doing so.... doh.gif

another option would be to change ur front speakers first, then HU smile.gif ....saying this cos if u change speakers u will now know that there is better speakers in ur car but u cant utilise them maximumly due to u cant play ur favorite CDs, and since u are using a after market HU not standard OEM one, changing HU will like not bring much improvement to ur setup but will give more function and features than just a FM radio.... laugh.gif

anyway, the choice is urs to make, if got money better change both HU and front speakers thumbup.gif ....if not choose either one ler... cheers.gif

wow thanks so many sifu here. i'm just wonder whether my front speakers has been spoiled yet coz never heard any sound coming out from there, or perhaps not connected to the player.

yeah subwoofer can be added later. so these is my sequence of purchasing:

component -> player -> rear speakers -> subwoofer.

got components already still need rear speakers ?

shocker sifu, you recommend following in the thread right?

alpine type S : RM680
helix blue 62 : RM680

and between these 2 which one is better ? component's bass very poor one? or just like normal rear speakers ?

can i buy 2 rear speakers + 2 tweeters ? and so this combination looks like a component set ?

hahaha....Im not sifu also ler, just a beginner also tongue.gif ...learnt a lot from ppl around here also, now is my turn to help where I can... bruce.gif

yeah, u have to check those front speakers if they are working or not or spoilt already yawn.gif .....if spoilt or if working but u dont like da sound, then change those to component set...buy one component set gets u a pair of midbass (speakers), a pair of tweeters and a pair of crossovers...all these comes one set together... nod.gif

anyway, ur direction or sequence is correct, option for u will be can swap to do player first or component first rclxms.gif ....no problem... flex.gif

bro, I didnt really recommend those speakers in my thread wave.gif ...those are options only which might be fitting my budget, and maybe urs too laugh.gif...the thing with speakers are u must set a budget and understand them based on ur music taste....u and me are not same, same goes for our taste in music and our ears rclxs0.gif ....listen as many setups and decide from there....perhaps we can help to input where necessary... icon_rolleyes.gif

between those 2 brands/setups, I have no idea really innocent.gif ....both also I didnt hear them so cannot compare ler...component bass depends OK, there is some very punchy and some just solid, some hard, some deep and low wink.gif ....depends da music u listen to.... rolleyes.gif

u can buy 2 rear speakers + 2 speakers but they wont function like a component set cos there is no crossover for them yawn.gif ....more so those 2 rear speakers (normally known as coaxials) would not function like components because they are not made to function like components, so scrap off dat idea.... nod.gif

if u are worried about rear fill, get a good pair of 2 way coaxials...that shud do the job.... cheers.gif

currently not using any brand yet or components, still on standard OEM sets sweat.gif .....thats why thread is there to assist me to decide wat I want, u can learn something from it also.... thumbup.gif notworthy.gif

Vocal more clean & clear => Helix Blue 62
Bass + Dynamic => Alpine Type S

Component mid bass not as strong as subwoofer la... because can't go very low mah....

Buy 2 rear speaker + 2 tweeter .... no recomance to do it... You listen the sound from back only...

Surround sound ? U think u watch movie meh..!
If listen song, you need stereo sound from front component...
Same as U at home, did you put ur speaker rear only without front speaker when listen song?

If need surround sound, you need stuft which have surround support... without it you can't have surround effect.

I will answer the bolded question only rclxs0.gif ....hehehe...since Im a newbie so dont have much experience in comparing speakers..... laugh.gif

its not exactly 100% right to say with component set u get surround sound but coaxial only produces stereo sound doh.gif ....its actually right to say that with a 2 way component set u get better sound reproduction if compared to 2 way coaxial since in component set, u have seperate tweeter placement, u have a pair of crossover that seperates out correct frequency to tweeter and midbass speakers thumbup.gif biggrin.gif ......in a coaxial setup, ur speaker sounds almost rojak, tweeter is placed on a midbass speakers itself and there is no crossover to channel out correct frequency, plus coaxials cannot actually work like components..... brows.gif

for front setup normally no one is using a coaxial speakers at all (lets not talk about OEM setup OK), normally only components or worse ppl who have no knowledge in ICE would change those standard OEM speakers to coaxials and put tweeters on dashboard wink.gif .....this is actually not a correct setup but wat to do ler since ppl donno maa... tongue.gif

if u afraid of having no rear fill (sound/audio for back passengers), then u can also put a matching component set in the rear as some ppl used to do this as well but this is only done if u have a big car ler laugh.gif ...otherwise, the front component shud be good enuff to transfer audio to the back thumbup.gif ....under normal circumstances, rear only put up 2 way coaxial shud be good enuff ler for music to be heard without cancelling the front staging.... rclxms.gif but there is also some setup where ppl dont put up any speakers at all since their front ones are good enuff leadi thumbup.gif .....there is also some ppl who cant live without back speakers....hehehee....ppl maa... icon_rolleyes.gif

imagine going to a concert but not hearing good sound coming from front stage but only from the rear, hell ur ears are not position to back its front bro drool.gif .....better be getting the nice sound from front so u can enjoy the action + audio together, so put up a good sound system in front first....know wat I mean flex.gif ??....

Wao ..! Mr Shocker you "mouth water more than tea"...Haha..
Not advide adding speaker at back...unless you tune your system very well or use HU to control it.
Use rear speaker won't have any surround feel ... unless your system have sorround support (usually for movie system)
