Hi all... anyone here living in Penang?? Can someone recommend me any good shop to buy ice stuff from with good workmanships too in Penang.

I live in Parit Buntar... have been as far asIpoh to look for ice stuff but mostly doesn't seems 'trustable'

myself and loon staying in penang....loon is from ipoh and me, eventhough my parents are there, Im a penang lang and studying and working here for sometime leadi ....lucky u I have been browsing ICE shops lately for my car.... I went to ipoh 2 weeks back, since was free there, I went to few ICE shops there but saw nothing interesting on ICE there.....generally other accessories there are cheaper than penang but if wanna talk about ICE stuffs, forget ipoh ler....

anyway, if u did some searching on ZTH or google, u would come across this LINK .....

also, u can try browsing autoworld malaysia's ICE forum, there some forummers there mostly from penang state...might get some ideas or help from there.....not wishing to promote other forum more than LYN....hehehe.....

since u are from mainland, first place I would probably suggest u to go is asacar auto accessories at tmn selasih, kulim ....they have a branch in sungai petani as well but I nvr been there yet....I heard their stuffs are priced quite reasonable for states like penang and kedah, even perak also....

yeah, try to avoid those brothers, on cost, cosplus if u wanna get any ICE stuffs for ur car .....better be going to normal ICE shops rather than these wholesalers.....hahaha...

Im not against their business but they are not just good in ICE IMHO .....for once there was a fren of mine from ipoh who came to penang to upgrade his ICE for his myvi and he just know shops like kedai abang, I recommended him to other shops rather than these shops....hahaha....donno he follow my advice or not....

for brothers, well, get the item, install it somewhere else.

I have heard of a shop name asacar or something... where is this shop located?

I answered this question earlier, refer there please ...anyway, since u are from mainland side, suggest head to kulim first before going to island....hehehe...

can get good selection there as well....reasonablly priced compared to penang island... ....easy for u also in case got problem no need to cross the sea to fix ur ICE problems...

got contact of the shop? how long travel from pg island to kulim?

I can give simple directions, a bit hard to explain everything around here...

normally penang to kulim takes about 45-60 mins depending traffic on bridge and roads...

find ur way to kulim high tech park, that is by using BKE (butterworth-kulim expressway), once u get off from the toll there, take a left turning at the first exit road from the highway, on that road there is a traffic light on ur right hand side road that goes straight and turns to right, turn to right from there and go straight till u see a shell station on ur left.....stop there and ask for further direction ......thats wat I did at first time I went there....I can explain more but u might be confused already by now...

wat setup or brand are u thinking of looking into ? it would be better for u to listen and judge the speaker performance rather than asking for something that is recommended by someone ....recommendation will come handy to u interms of ur budget, branding and performance and suitabilty to music u listen, but still probably the most important thing will be whether ur ears like it or not ?

let us know wat probably u looking into...probably me or loon can advice ....by the way, dont have contact no tho but shop is open everyday till 8pm except on major public holidays....

ic.. then if my budget of the component set is RM 400 + what set probably i can get?

if its RM400 for a component set, try for soundstream, BM boschmann or lightning audio bolt series (old models) ....or also can try other brands probably 2nd hand ones but better than those 3 above if u can get any deals around....

or worse, u can also try fake ones at lelong ...kekekeke...but definitely not recommended...kikikiki....

and for these all, dont have to go to kulim ler...can look in penang island itself....

what bout TWC car audio in bayan baru penang ? lots of their stickers at the back of people's car and well their satria demo car looks kinda awesome..and there's a forumer in here who is active in the automative garage that goes with the nick sound impact, if im not mistaken he is from an audio shop somewhere near kelawei road

TWC is SPL installer... only know Boom Boom Boom whole street...

SPL = Sound Pressure Level = People listen to Bass Song

yeah, about sound impact....hehehehe....not to say bad things about him but his shop is rather new ler ...not much an expert in ICE, atleast not yet laa ...I have been to his shop before when he did window tinting promotion, good pricing he gave me dat time ....his shop is at jones road nearby lancia auto car dealer at pulau tikus....

Good Service shop a lot... but good price shop a bit...
Then Good Service + pricing leh...If you close with the ICE boss, sure will get good price la....

but good stuft won't be cheap ... Maybe you only can get reasonable price...

possible every thread visitor here list down ICE shops name that you know that is good in your opinion, and brief direction of where it actually situated in either pg island or mainland. So does the purpose of the thread right ?

damn..i know that you guys mentioned that brothers and such have not so good workmanship but their video products prices are damn tempting..monitor around 300 and another 400 for dvd hu..geez i dunno whether is totally bad to invest money on that stuff.

Where you prefer go for ICE setup?

I never went anywhere before except for visit to a shop near sg dua(forgot the name),twc and also acoustic edge.Well i dont want to have a preference because i truly do not know which is good amongst the ice shops in penang.No experience = no comment.But truly price is my main concern as im only in the market for HU,nothing more so the shop that could install HU nicely for me would be preferred and throw in a budget of rm400+/- for the limit.

u are rite about this thread, but the thing with ppl is that they wont do any searching or reading first but instead keep on asking here and there...

nabelon, since u are from sungai dua USM area, try heading down to crystal sound beside makro (shophses same row with subaidah).... Im sure u can look for quite some sets there itself....

about acoustic edge, hahaha....I just got one word for u "expensive" .....no disrespect to the AE, but Im not sure hell why is everything there is dang mahal ...a fren of mine who bought a JL XR series component from golden for RM1.1K but AE is selling JL TR series component for RM1K++ ....TR series is entry level series while XR series which is almost high end level but price cant be around the same ler....

but the manager or boss there, the malay fella is quite cool and nice fella ....will give u a lot advice or information if u manage to show him some interest in sound engineering...hahaha...

ok , can list several more shops in pg island as what i know is only:

1 .suck brother
2. the one at bayan baru, beside HL bank
3. the one same row with subaidah at sungei dua

i don mind far abit, just hope the shop got what i want and price is reasonable. i wan pioneer 3850 mp3 player, soundstream components or alpine components.

there is illusion audio at sungai dua, acoustic edge at gurney drive roundabout, alpha at burma road, CT2 at sunshine square...

crystal audio near subaidah is very near to my house..walking distance.But is it good ? i can see a lot of ppl hangin out there up till nite but the shop sometime is crowded(you know the are quite small,the subaidah stretch of road) so i feel lazy wanna check out whats inside.Btw if i wanna get pioneer say 2850/3850 where can i get good price on them in penang ? and about golden auto..where is it actually ?

If you want to find new cheap Eclipse Hu.. I can tell you la...like CD7000 => RM1800++
Pioneer no idea... but many shop got carry Pioneer mah... You can check it one by one...then buy it loh..

But you can think about buy cheap branded HU from Brother, On Cost, Cosplus also not bad...but try not going to install there..

I think i found one ok shop,its the one near pizza hut desa university called BENG AUDIO(beside the shop got its twin shop a bodykit shop).Its the are that also houses baskin robins and mcd.Well i went there earlier today and met the tauke.A disabled guy but quite okay in treating his customer.He offered me pioneer deh 2850mp for rm440 include installation and he said that if you got the player we charge rm15 for installation.Well which do you guys would recommend ?..buy the player from him or buy from trade zone here and ask him to install it for rm15.Buying from internet saves me maybe 30-40 bucks but i dunno if he got double standard if use own player.

i would recommend you to get 2950 which is newer version and have more features. at penang here, 2950 is about RM 470 plus installation.

another thing to consider is the warranty, you have to know how easy can you reach the person you purchase player from to get warranty, i would recommend a shop because it's always there, even several bucks more expensive, worth it.

erm..btw i found a panasonic mp3 player with remote model no. Panasonic CQ-C1333.What do you guys think bout this ? Is panasonic okay or so so ? Well with installation the player is about RM399.

from my survey, panasonic player isn't that good, somemore that is lower end one. if your budget can reach Rm 600 i recommend you buy eclipse one, sound very clear. pioneer one is more on functionality and features, but not good for sound quality.

what speaker r u using ?

yo eric..sorry for the late reply..im using oem kancil speaker..no budget to get aftermarket one.Well i got three options for now

1.Panasonic - Rm400
2.Pioneer DEH-2850MP -RM 440
3.Pioneer DEH-2950MP- RM ??? (470?)

all include installation

All HU for normal listener only...
SQ might not good enough..

ya. you increase your budget abit, get eclipse CD-1000 (RM 600, dono where to get? ask me ) which i'm using. it's clearer than those you listed.

hold on, b4 that wanna ask you whether r u serious in your ICE setup or not ? or you just plan to get a CD/mp3 player which replace your stock one and jus t that for long time? if this is the case, then pioneer 2950 ok edi lor. it matches your stock speakers.

if you plan to change one by one by the time going, then you shoud get a better HU first and then change speaker, amp, woofer etc.

im not so serious in the setup coz i dont drive the car im going install the player in.Its for my fiancee actually...thats why im goin with budget player.just wanna listen to music while driving thats all

the shop name is "Speed" located at jelutong. remember the tight one lane flyover near green land there ? after it just go straight and it's on your right. he sold me at RM 600 for CD1000. a good shop recommended, but not really for the installation skill ...

Not only that shop "Speed" have Eclipse HU,
Alpha also got sale but they need oder loh because they don't keep stok.

i bring my own components tho (my bro gets them for me from overseas)
quality and durability of installation more important than pricing ..
