Searching around for faux concrete slab or artisan cement effect wall finished but was put off by high prices, faux concrete slab can cost as much as RM40.00+ psf while artisan cement effect wall cost around RM14.00 psf.

Had a long discussion with contractor and we agreed to remove existing paint to see what's underneath, both were surprised the precast concrete looks good so decided to bring out its natural beauty. After paint removed, we sand it even then painted it with a waterproof sealant to prevent cement dust, drew some lines to bring out the effect too. Renovation still going on and these are the pix I have for now.

Those aiming to achieve this kinda feature wall, perhaps can check if your desire wall are using the precast concrete.

Just my 2 cents though.

Looks like your Condo Unit is near the Stairwell or Lift Core .

Most high rise building have a central core where the structural strength for Lateral Wind Forces are anchored in when there is strong winds.

So not necessary that all walls have the "Insitu Reinforced Concrete Wall" as seem in your wall.

It is Much Cheaper to have Brick infill to walls. And most walls are Brick Infill type.

As for the "Visual Effect" , it depends on the individual.

I personally like it as easier to maintained and has the "Minimalistic Effect "

.............................................................................

Your Contractor is right to paint in a Sealer to prevent dusting or dampness.

Suggest you consider a Clear Polyurethane Varnish/paint to give it a "Glossy" look and easy cleaning.

Next to this wall is my neighbor, our level all quadrant unit. If walls happened to be bricks then have to skim a layer of cement but effect wise won't be this rugged. The current sealant is the regular waterproofing solution use for bathrooms, it's not glossy, did told my contractor I don't want it glossy, keep it natural.

I liked the selection and V groove so went with Kronoswiss. Those are concrete joint lines.

Kronoswiss came in today, installation went well. This is under 12mm V-Groove Solid Chrome D3033, my previous choice was D3032 which was much darker, luckily can change during last minute or else I'll regret my decision. Back of this laminate board had printing stated "Made in Switzerland".

Price is around RM10.00 psf inclusive of installation and skirting.

You need to be more specific, there's plastering and wiring involved. For stripping of paint and sealant on concrete wall, I've yet to get exact quote. Flooring is around 11K covering 1100+ sq ft, no laminate on certain area.

Thanks Bro. Will do it soon, still have couple of things not done yet. I'm putting a scissors grille inside my unit, hopefully can be done. This is my lousy drawing just to have an idea....hahaha
