Hey guys, I remembered last time this was discussed before but very difficult to go digging through all the posts in old topics for it. sweat.gif

Is there a permanent fix for the disc auto-eject problem? For 8-10 months I've used my PS4 in vertical position without ever facing this problem. Now it seems to be happening quite regularly. cry.gif

I've tried the tightening screw method, but it feels like the screw is just rotating without getting tighter. sweat.gif Don't dare to try removing the rubber method, does that really work? I am still under warranty btw but would prefer not to send it for warranty if possible. bangwall.gif

Sorry, ONLY possible fix is to:

- Open up the PS4
- Look for the metal contact on the case (attached to the eject button), tape it with electrical tape
- Grab a blade and scratch the gold contact point (for the eject sensor) on the motherboard.

This is the ONLY guaranteed fix. I, like you have done all the so called bullshit "fixes" on the internet. EVERY one of them I've tried, NONE works permanently.

Yes you will void your warranty, but sending it back to Sony will only result in 2 things:

1) Sony refurbish you a used PS4.
2) Sony do their own method of completely draining the entire system of power to remove any static remnants, test it for 5 minutes and tell you to come collect. Result, few days or weeks later, auto-eject again.
*
I see, thanks for the reply. sad.gif I don't think I have enough confidence in myself to do what you did though haha...

I see, I guess no point in sending for warranty either. sweat.gif

By the way, do you know if the newer model (CUH1206 I believe) still suffer from this auto-eject issue as well? I remember reading that the newer model changes the eject button to a mechanical one? hmm.gif Though I guess I will have to sacrifice a good RM 300-500 if I were to sell mine and get the newer model haha... cry.gif

The newer versions of PS4 does indeed have a mechanical eject button. So far I haven't read/heard of anyone having auto eject issues with this model.

QUOTE(SSJBen @ Mar 4 2016, 08:55 PM)
It's very easy. You don't even need to disassemble the whole system, all you need is to remove the bottom cover and you'll have access to the gold contact on the motherboard.

I haven't heard of any auto disc eject issues on the 12xx models, which basically confirms the dumb design Sony had with the original models.
*
I see, thanks for the replies guys. thumbsup.gif

I still have more than a year of warranty since I got it with extended warranty. So I better not fiddle with the gold contact haha... biggrin.gif

I guess I'll start saving up some cash and maybe later I'll get the newer model and sell off the old one. smile.gif With a year or so still left in my extended warranty, hopefully it can still fetch a good price. biggrin.gif

*
Yep, this looks like the best option for me too. smile.gif

i suggest to send to sony for warranty first since it is still under warranty.

i did too and what they did was to replace the whole lower assembly (not sure exactly what is included but i noticed the bottom part of the enclosure was new).

touch wood, problem fixed and haven't got auto eject for a few months already.
*
I see, so they could fix the problem. smile.gif But there is always that fear that sometime in the future it might happen again. sweat.gif I am currently searching for a good deal for the new model, if I could find one within my budget, I might just get a new one and sell off the old one. blush.gif

Up to you bro. It's just a RM2 (for a roll of electrical tape) fix vs a whole new console.

I know it's under warranty so it's a tough pill to swallow by voiding it, but yeah it's the only permanent fix.  Of course the new console will also run quieter with the more logical software set for the fan curve, but on the whole it also runs hotter (just slightly, not significantly) because of the simpler heatsink design.
*
Thanks for the advice guys, will consider. smile.gif Still have more than a year warranty left since I bought extended warranty last time, that's what makes sacrificing the warranty a little more harder haha... Still playable for now, since the auto eject happens like once in every gaming session, so I'll stick with it for now while considering.

My hard disk is almost full already. sweat.gif If I delete some games from the home screen, the save file will still remain in the PS4 right? hmm.gif Don't have PSN Plus so can't sync save file to cloud.

you order via gemfive too?
i direct contact the merchatn, SP&K gamemart, they yesterday posted out 7pm++. showed 10/05/2016 19:53:38 Pickup By Courier
24hours until now, still same??  rclxub.gif

normally i order online via postlaju or others, next day normal you see "outbound to butterworth branch", then etc.
last time i order far cry primal ps4 via gemfive, next day received d. haiz.
have to see courier one i guess. damn gdex
*
Oh same merchant with me. Mine even more weird, last time I ordered one other game together with this pre-order of uncharted 4, all in one order. So they delivered that other game and in Gemfive they mark the whole order including the Uncharted 4 as delivered already. rclxub.gif So I didn't receive any update of shipping at all cause from Gemfive perspective the order completed already. doh.gif

But I bought from Game mart before, know they are a reliable seller, so not too worried and know they will send. Just dunno when I will receive only haha... doh.gif

But yea, Gdex can be quite slow sometime too. bangwall.gif Guess depends on the courier guys in our area.

glad that you have yours.

today i deal with Gdex (called 7,8 times from 845 am till 4pm), and gemfive FB and email CS, also whatsapp the merchant.
GDEX confirm my parcel is missing. Merchant also say im the only one that not receive (super unlucky), and gemfive cs and FB looking into it.
Gdex said will update gemfive, to tell merchant to send another new one for me.
but im still waiting gemfive official email confirmation on these, and merchant to update me when they really post a new one.
Order 07Feb2016 during CNY, and Im the last to get.  cry.gif  cry.gif  cry.gif
*
Really unlucky bro. sad.gif Hope they can solve the problem, and get you another one soon.

GDEX call me again today, they investigate further is that the merchant itself collect back on the same day.
reason is "buyer cancel"
I was like " im the buyer, when i say cancel?"
then Gdex give me the phone number of the sender, Eric.
called and Eric go check.
Eric return call in 1hour, say cause during postage of all items, he saw my item in Gemfive stated "on hold", so he thought i cancel or what, he take back the parcel.
He checked with Gemfive is system error of "on hold" due to i change address on 4th May to my office address.
then i call back Gemfive and confirmed.

SP&K gamemart will repost by today or next monday. cry.gif

Lessons: dont change shipping address (WTF !!  biggrin.gif  )
*
What a mess by all three parties, mix up by gemfive, gdex and game mart. doh.gif

I played the old Deus Ex game on PC long time ago so I am looking forward to this one. I pre-ordered this game, I think it'll be a decent game if you enjoy stealth gameplay. smile.gif

Just send in my PS4 for repair on the auto eject issue..

Sony said it will cost around RM 200 to fix it.. Sigh, so unlucky sad.gif
*
Rm 200... any idea what they'll do to fix your console? Do they change the button to a physical one?

I have this issue as well but so far I just live with it. sweat.gif

He said they will change the sensor as it's faulty.. He said it's a common problem for the first batches of PS4.. My machine is bought on launch day in December few years back.. They have to order the spare parts from Singapore and then only can fix it.. Takes around 2 weeks to fix it sad.gif
*
I see. Thanks for info. notworthy.gif

I don't think I can live without my PS4 for up to two weeks haha... biggrin.gif Mine also early batch. I have extended warranty up to mid next year, so I'll wait until problem get worst then send for warranty.

Oh and it looks like Sony just doesn't learn from their mistakes? The PS4 Pro uses touch capacitive buttons for the Power/Eject switches. Prepare yourself for more 3 beeps and phantom disc ejects.
*
Seriously? Now this is a major concern for me. Pretty dumb by Sony. bangwall.gif

Here I was thinking that I'll kill two birds with one stone with the ps4 pro, get a better console and get rid of the auto eject problem permanently. mega_shok.gif

I also wonder if FF XV will run smoother (1080p) on the Pro. If so, I'm kind of tempted to get the Pro early before FF XV is out.

QUOTE(gigojoey @ Sep 10 2016, 10:10 PM)
Just placed an order ps4 pro. My reasons - Need to change my ds4 which is quite worn up n to upgrade my hd as im into digital contents. I didn't buy the 4k gimmicks, but would prefer if they can improve the frame rates at 1080p. So let's see the breakdown cost of upgrading -

PS4 Pro RM1800. Bought through gemfive so getting discount around RM215. Plus maybank cash back on weekend of RM50. Effective purchase price is RM1535.

If i were to purchase new ds4 n 1 tb hd the price would be 180 + 200= rm380. since all of these are bundled in the pro package, then i would minus rm380, bringing down the purchase price to rm1155.

So will sell my 2 years old ps4 at rm900 which i assume is fair considering the used ps4 price is between 850-1100. If i deduct rm900 from rm1155, my actual cost of upgrading to pro is rm255 and im getting spanking new unit with superior spec. Bought from gamemart ( my old ps4 also was bought from gamemart thru lazada).
*
Hi bro. May I know the Maybank cash back you mention, is it using Maybank credit card only?
