If it's merely 4k upscale function and not native 4k, I think it's redundant to produce a PS4.5. 4k upscale functionality can be added directly at the output device, just like how 4k TV can upscale non-4k signal. So for non-VR gaming purposes, I don't see a reason why Sony need to produce a new console just to "upscale 4k (if not true native 4k), which is already done by the output device (the 4k TV itself). If the upscale is for PSVR, it also doesn't make sense as the current PSVR resolution is no where near 4k. And if they decided to upgrade the PSVR screen resolution, I don't see why they can't include a 4k upscaler chip in PSVR itself or the external unit that come with PSVR, instead of including the new chip in the PS4 console which renders millions of existing PS4 obselete and create anger among existing users.

I just noticed that even the cheap VR box (for use with smartphone) stated that their device only suitable for myopia below 600 degrees. I wondered what is the limit for PSVR even though they said people with glasses can wear the PSVR.

You're so lucky to have TIME broadband coverage for your area. Mine only have Streamyx and a useless small company broadband (top record- down time half a month and they don't even rebate). No Unifi or Astro broadband either.

Console games are always more expensive, regardless of which region. PC games are always cheaper than console games.
Our money is depreciating faster than our salary increment, the only way for working class to stay ahead of the inflation is by having good investment. Investment in property, not necessarily new or high end property, even low class property (e.g. old apartment) is a good return earner in the long term.

My gaming experience over the years tells me that end of the day, there's only a few truly good game that we can replay countless time during each console generation, hence no need to buy every highly rated game, just buy a few good one in our favorite genre. During the ahem game era, games can be bought cheaply, but most of the games ends up collecting dust after one two test play. I'm still awaiting the truly immersive VR gaming (maybe 3/4th generation VR) in the not so far future

PS1: Ridge Racer (R4?), Front Mission (Mech turn based strategy), Metal Gear Solid
PC: Heroes of Might and Magic 1-3, StarCrafts, Warcrafts, Diablo 1.....
Xbox: Project Gotham Racing 2 (the only racing game I have fun using steering wheel)
Xbox 360: Earth Defense Force 2025
PS4: So far Helldivers.....

I can't recall which Ace Combat I truly loved.... subsequent AC series wasn't as good as the earlier ones....

You're a PS die hard fan!!!! Why never give Xbox a chance???? To me, Xbox controller's trigger is still the best (most precise acceleration and braking), even the placement of the left analog stick is much better.

Our only common favorite is Warcraft 3 and MGS, perhaps bomberman.... Weird that you didn't fall in love with Starcraft since you like Warcraft......
Anyway I no longer play PC games as nowadays I don't even have a PC at home, only an iPad, the Surface tablet is useless piece of crap by Microsoft that has little to none app support If I ever buy a PC again I will try the latest 3D Might and Magic 6/7...... or perhaps the 3D Starcraft....

Yes, I also got office laptop, I only bring laptop back home during weekend, normal days don't bring back because cumbersome to reconnect cables/power block everyday. Office laptop better don't install private software (including games), worried got virus all our hardwork gone.... Anyway laptop normally don't have powerful graphic card to run any worthy games.... Long live gaming console, let's welcome the next phase: console VR

Hmm... already end of March but we still haven't heard of any hints of the upcoming April free to play games....
I hope Sony is paying attention to what Xbox Gold is doing, Xbox gold has been consistently giving out free AAA titles for their subscribers (Lords of the Fallen, Tomb Raider Definitive Edition, Metal Gear Solid V, Sunset Overdrive ), unlike PS Plus which gave low budget indie games like the current month pixelated 8 bit games BroFxxx (why Sony emphasis its 1080p/60fps if we're going to play 8 bit pixelated games on PS4?).

The game looks like a "tower defense" with giant space ship defending against incoming waves of enemies fighters.... could be fun.
I hope the second PS4 free to play game is more closer to AAA title we seen on Xbox Gold..... perhaps PS4's overwhelming leading sales against Xbox is not really benefiting PS users, in the contrary Xbox users are ripping the benefit when Microsoft tried its best to woo new buyers by offering the best free to play game they can afford.

You start playing Helldivers.... but I never saw you in the game every time I go online
Now I prefer helldive levels because less newbie screwing up the game.

"Helldive" is the hardest difficulty, I think it is difficulty 9......

Mistakes to be avoided by newbies so that you are less likely to be kicked by some not so friendly host:
- Don't step over your teammates with your Mech, watch where you're going;
- Don't run over your teammates with your tank/whatever vehicles;
- Don't call down the incendiary too close to your teammates and burnt them alive
- Look where you throw your strategem;
- Don't throw "reinforcement" into the enemies crowd, it's like sending the revived teammates to be "instant kill", if you want to use stratagem to kill tanks and big bugs, use strategem drop down like "resupply".
- Mech is not very welcome by most veteran as they move slower than helldivers on foot (unless it is when defending evacuation point or snowy terrain run)

There's no level restriction for playing more difficult levels, but you'll likely meet a quick death if you try to jump into higher difficulty level on your own. I did noticed some not so friendly host kick out low level players who joined their higher difficulty game. Higher level helldiver only means one have unlocked more equipment/weapons/perks, one can level up until the max level 50, there's no different in damage/health stats for level 1 helldivers compared with level 50, only the equipment they have and the actual play skill/experience of the gamer.

-No there's no level requirement to play any of the planet, but boss planet is only available for play after you accumulated certain amount of "influence point", or you could simply join others on the online multiplayer for the boss planet fight. I find the Bug boss extremely difficult to beat because it keeps burrowing under ground and its venom spit is deadly, the illuminate and cyborg boss are easier to beat though.
-Yes there is level cap, your helldiver can only level up to 50 (it doesn't really matter as there's no more equipment/stratagem to unlock after level 25 if I'm not mistaken), getting higher level after level 25 simply means you really love the game
-I'm currently level 26, I doubt I'll achieved level 50 because it requires progressively more points to level up after level 25 and there's really no new unlocks after that level, merely playing for fun

That is not strategem, but "perks". Then again I've not seen anyone equip this perk since everyone can only equip 1 perk, I hope the developer would add extra slot for perk and strategem for higher level helldivers though.

It's almost pointless to have so many perks when everyone are forced to stick to a minor few (strategem priority, all terrain boots, displacement field, laser aim module- newbie only).

I don't own the game, but I recall Sony promised that game discs are transferable so it doesn't make sense that a disc to locked to certain user/buyer.

The whole PS4.5 rumors doesn't really make much sense
- if Sony need a more powerful console to run PSVR fluently, that means Sony cannot capitalize on the existing multimillion PS4 user base;
- it was a tough battle to win the current console war (in terms of console sold), will Sony just abandon the 3 years hardwork and gamble on a newer half gen console that will alienate existing user base, doesn't seem like a smart move, it only make business sense to fully milk the existing user base and not rebuild from zero;
- the PSVR OLED can't even display true full HD, what's more 4K resolution. Even Oculus rift and HTC Vive only manages to display something equivalent to 720p per eye (display resolution is split by 2 for each eye);
-it's already the 3rd year of this console life cycle, meaning it's mid point before a truly next gen console will come out, that may mean both PS4.5 and PSVR has a lifespan of only 3 years. 2nd gen PSVR with higher resolution display cannot wait too many years or else Sony will be ousted from the VR competition.

It took Sony 3 years to arrived at the total sale of 36 million consoles, how many PS4.5 will there be in the coming 1 year.... 3 million? A smart developer would still focus on the larger piece of pie instead of focusing on a newly launched half gen console that is virtually starting from zero. Generally real profit only starts to kick in in the 2nd or 3rd year of a new console when the cost of the console component starts to drop and console become more profitable, and game revenue from the fully matured user base starts pouring in. Sony and Microsoft generally doesn't make much profit during the initial launch of the console due to intense price war against each others. Hence the move does not make much business sense, instead of milking the recently matured cow, they want to raise a calf and starts all over again.............

If this is the new trend of console going forward, some people may jump over to pc gaming, since pc game is relatively cheaper, but majority may stay with console due to its convenient factors (playing on the couch with a huge TV and no messy configuration). People will just start accepting the new norm that their console has only a 3-4 year life cycle and their money spent has lesser value than before .

Anyway get used to the disappointment, it's capitalism after all, just give us your money for another newer shinier toy
