if you define by brand. then you caught up buying faulty unit. seems like you will definitely will blame the brand instead of certain model of the notebook..

sometimes, brand also play important role to influence the price.

same specs but different price due to different brand. in the end of the day, how reliable and durable is the notebook model matters.

i've null the poll tongue.gif

The higher your budget goes, the better the built quality of the material and to an extent the internal hardware components. If you are looking for a something of at least an quality aluminum built laptop than prepare to pay at least 3K more or less.

You also have to consider buying a laptop with better specs or crappier built quality or lower specs with better built quality. Choosing all of the above can easily cost you between the 3-6K price mark.

You simply get what you paid for.

ur firned's advice is not 100%. although its a safer bet tat premium price will get u premium build.

Reason:

1) expensive laptop doesnt guarantee zero-faulty units.

2) My whole family (around 7 of us), using around 4-5 laptops, and all our laptop are between the price os 1.5-1.7k. All of it lasted at least 4-5 years (minimal gaming). We only change laptop when it lags significantly. [this conclude tat how u use ur laptop also plays a factor]

Cooling is merely one of the factor and not everyone have a problem with it, you would also have to take into account the local environment which the laptop in question is operating which can be less of a factor in say certain regions like in most western countries where its much cooler over there unlike over here where due to the tropical climate having a year summer. It's the exception not the norm.

Price can also be subjective to certain people and on most MSI laptops you are actually paying for extra bells and whistles like mech keyboards and whatnot that most people find to be an overkill and not "worth" their money when they could simply get a more customizable and affordable desktop or mini-PC equivalent.

As per TS title, which laptop is "Good to buy" will largely depend on your budget. Just don't expect getting a laptop with modern mid-range performance with decent enough built quality on a budget less than 1k, you are simply asking for the impossible.

i actuallly dont know that brand exist, seems pretty new company...
anyway good looking custom laptop from malaysia <3

but have anyone loaded them with linux (just asking some opinion)?

the current problem with linux is to deal with the optimus support from nvidia
and it seems that the custom laptop the offer best compatibility is the u series (intel gpu only)...?

if you buy those high end barebones (not the thin all-soldered-in) models meant for desktop replacement, they don't use Optimus anymore. Its all direct to the dGPU. Even the iGPU from the Intel procs don't get used (iirc they get disabled or something like that)

thanks hyperyouth_firepower, i will try ask around the option to shut off optimus in the bios if illegear have that the next time i buy barebone laptop wink.gif

but then again kinda worried desktop replacements batteries though, maybe hurtin too much? hmm.gif

personally i use laptop listed in my sig, and battery seems short lived (1 year i think)...

Some new laptops come with smart battery charging nowadays.

For e.g. our S and D series come equipped with battery engine like this

Most welcome.

I see Prince_J has replied to you about the battery. About the part of dGPU and iGPU and Optimus, the way I understand, a lot of games these days aren't build with proper Optimus support. Optimus won't die for the low end laptops, but proper gaming laptops shouldn't have Optimus hardwired (as in forced Optimus) and Illegear's decision to have newer models that disables / discards Optimus is certainly a very, very good move. Too bad I bought my machine 1 year too early. LOL
