My AV Receiver is Sony STRDA-3500ES and is paired with first gen Acoustic Energy AE120 floorstanders, AE107c centre speaker and Wharfedale active sub with Astro decoder and Smart LED TV as sources. The floorstanders are tri-wired and the rear speaker outputs of my AV Receiver are set to handle the low frequencies of the floorstanders.
My Sony receiver sometime will switch off automatically and cannot be controlled via the remote control. Hope to hear opinions here whether, I should look for repair for my AV receiver or upgrade to used AV Amplifier like Denon X3000. Budget is RM1,000. Or should I save more money to buy Yamaha RXV-385 I see on Lazada about RM1,6xx

QUOTE(kevinlim001 @ Nov 26 2025, 11:48 AM) Looks like your AVR is switching itself into protection mode? What was the pattern like long time loud playing (units get hot) and get off by itself or upon start then it turn off automatically? would you be able to share what do you mean by floorstanders are tri-wired ? AV Receiver gets off by itself but not that frequently, we hardly driven it hard / too loud The AE120s are tri-wire speaker. For my setup the speaker A terminals (for front left and right speakers) outputs are powering tweeter and mid (using bi-wire cables) while the rear speakers output from the AV Receiver are reassigned for bi-amping front speakers, and are powering the low frequencies terminal of the AE120 These sample photos are taken from the web. For my setup, the bridges are taken off This post has been edited by BlackBananaV6: Nov 26 2025, 02:35 PM
