You can also use the spirit level to check if you have slanted walls... or crooked door frames.
level is for furniture and minor use
for larger thing, people would use what they coin "timbang air pipe" which utilise bernoulli`s concept...
take a garden hose... mark each end, and fill it with water.... then ask a guy to hold it at one end and another hold it at other end... and then from there you can estimate whether it is same level or not
