It seems that we are arguing if we need to repent to receive the salvation, which is by Grace of God.
This is my take. Christ is the way to the Father. Salvation is provided for us by God's grace, which he gives in Christ Jesus based on his death, resurrection and continued intercession for us (believers).
I had earlier said this "Our salvation comes as a gift of God's grace, but it can only be appropriated by our response in faith." What I was trying to say is that we need to response to the gift. If the gift is there, and we do not response by accepting, how are we to receive the grace? Didn't you acknowledge you are sinner and accept Jesus Christ as personal savior? Ain't you repenting and responding?
I have never believed in work to achieve Salvation. It is a free gift. Repentance is only once i.e. accept we are the sinners and we need Jesus as our personal savior. I did not say we need to continue to repent daily for our sins. The blood of Christ on the cross is sufficient. It is finished as said by Jesus.

Just to add, Book of Ephesians 2:8-9 says "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no once can boast."
In Acts 2:38, "Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, everyone of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." With this call comes the work of the Holy Spirit within a person, giving him or her the power and ability to respond to God.

QUOTE(3388 @ Apr 13 2016, 03:41 PM)
Amen. I do believe this is the truth.
It happens to me everytime when I sinned I tell myself " I must repent, otherwise my salvation will be at stake"; and it ends up becoming a "cycle" ie: Sin, remorse, repent, then sin again, remorse, repent - non stop and it's killing me.
To some point, I think the problem which misconception of repentance bring to us is self-righteousness. We "think" we can be righteous by "doing" repentance.
But I believe true freedom in Christ is, when we finally say to God " God help me to turn away from this sin, I CANNOT do it myself", only with this we shall then experience miracle and transformation by the
work of God.
Okay, I'm glad we're moving forward in our spiritual understanding of the Bible, next step is to share more devotional to reinforce Faith in Christ for God's Kingdom to move on.
With that being said, guys watch out & keep praying for protection upon your life (& your family) and for our fellowship in this thread, very sure the enemy is reading this and also planning the next attack to demotivate us in the spirit and our walk with our Lord Jesus.
