Would like see if anyone has any idea on how to resolve this issue

The flexi hose to the outlet cap size dont match, and i was told by the shop who sold me the cap and hood - this is correct size(the flexi hose and outlet cap)

But they just dont match as the outlet cap is about 5 inch and the flexi hose is 6 inch i believe ... was told to use aluminium tape to tape it up ...

THat should not be the case, but was told there is no outlet cap bigger than this, that they are of standard size

Any ideas folks?

If u confirmed ur kitchen hood using 6" duct hose, then u should get this. I didn't use the plastic duct hose come with it.

I believe the shop screwed u upside down.
Its impossible to git 6" hose into 5" cap. it must be exact size.

If u lazy to argue, then just go to chinese hardware shop to buy the aluminium duct hose (like above link) it should be about RM50

sorry didnt label my pic clearly, the grey part is 6 inch that goes into the hood ... the metal thing on left is the outlet cap that sits on my window

the shop i got this from (paramax in puchong) says the outlet cap is standard size, the cap itself is RM50, which has already been installed

if i need to buy the cap again to fit the 6 inch cap, means the window contractor needs to be involved

damn

with a 1 inch gap around it? i bough the tape... then upon closer inspection the edge of the flexi hose very hard, cant even flex, so at 6 inch... it will not cover the outlet cap at 5 inch

The PVC ducts seems kinda big, what brand did your purchase? The aluminium duct is smaller compared to the PVC one, usually installer will use aluminium tape to tape the hose on the hood and also at the cap.

Try ace hardware. They might have a 6" to 5" duct adapter. Might.

If I were u, i will go back to the shop sold u the flexi hose to get it replaced or refund. How can they sell u the 6" duct with 5" cap, n claimed it's standard ?

Else, ur best choice is get the aluminium duct hose that i show u earlier, it's kinda soft n might be able to wrap around the cap.

FYI ... the aluminium duct hose are better n more durable in long term compare to the hard plastic one that u're having now.

a bit hard. for my situation.my plastic duct is bigger than my cap too.
i buy a normal aluminum duct and join with aluminum tape to the plastic duct. at the end of the aluminum duct, i join with the cap.
i think normally the cap is same size unless fotile. so the main problem would be ur plastic duct

no pic.
mine is plastic duct -> aluminum duct -> aluminum cap. i connect all those with aluminum tape. for the hole size, it is normally 6 inch which is ur cap size.

i bought the rubine hood and the duct and cap.
original came with plastic duct but the rubine cap is too small for the plastic duct. quite similar with ur case

but from the duct, i cant use aluminum duct as the size of the hood output is too big.however, the plastic is ngam ngam at hood output
