Some update on Zalman STG1:

Before using Zalman STG1, Used stock intel TIM
Idle 37'C Full Load 57'C

After applying Zalman STG1

1st Day
idle 47'C Full Load 66-68'C

After 8 days of casual computing..
idle 38'C Full Load 57-58'C

so i think i can conclude that Zalman STG1 need time to sink in before it will bring down the temp. besides that, zalman's performance not that impressive where it is on par with my previous stock TIM from intel. probably zalman stg1 dont work too well with Intel 478 Stock Cooler.
*
So, that means that it's the same with AS5 [need time to sink in], but still, base on you're experience, does it works well like AS5? blink.gif

Using common sense and none of any rocket science techniques, a facial cotton dipped in thinner to clean the top of the cpu a few times would be next to prestine cleanliness. Just ensure you don't have plastic parts nearby. I do this on my own workshop bench or at the kitchen sink.
C'mon lah..I even do worse sometimes, wash the entire cpu in water and dish washing soap after that and dry off carefully with hair dryer or front of table fan. I've never spoilt a cpu with my own methods. I've got 30 years of electronics practical knowledge and won't suggest nonsense. You can all experiment with some old cpu if you like.
I use paint thinner to remove solder flux from pcb after soldering, its prestine like new after that with hardly any trace that it was tampered or repaired. I'm just being practical with my own methods.
*
Dip a processor in the dish washing soap... sweat.gif
I didn't say that it's nonsense, but it just sound "scary" to me.. sweat.gif

Arctic Cooling MX-1 seems better than AS5.
On monday, i bought myself a tube of MX-1 for myself.

Then applied it on the same way i apply AS5 on my CPU IHS.
After 4 days, MX-1 performs at 26 degrees [Yes, i'm on watercooling]

While AS5 performs at 28 degrees.

Wow, this does proves that MX-1 is much much better than AS5. hmm.gif

High Performance Thermal Compound for the Enthusiast
Turbo MX-2 is a high conductive and low resistance compound for components that require the best thermal dissipation. MX-2 is ideally suited for use in CPU, GPU cooling and other applications between power semiconductor components and heat sinks where high thermal conductivity is critical.

Main Features:
High Thermal Conductivity
Low Thermal Resistance
Non-Electrical Conductive
Non-Capacitive
Non-Curing
Non-Corrosive
No Bleeding
Odorless
No Metal Particles
Since the MX-2 compound does not contain any metal particles, there are no problems regarding electrical conductivity and capacitance. In contrast to silver and copper compounds, contact with electrical traces, pins, and leads cannot result in any damage.

Durability:
Curing and bleeding of the compound is not possible. In contrast to metal or silicon pastes, this compound does not show decreasing performance over time, does not need to be reapplied and has a durability of at least 8 years.

(one thing i found out,MX-2 works suck than MX-1,MX-1 still better than it.)
That doesn't seem right.
Me, empire23 & some other guys tested both MX-1 & MX-2, and the MX-2 really does outperform MX-1.
Perhaps there's something wrong with the way you applied MX-2. smile.gif

Please don't use Nail Polish Remover.
It is not adviseable to use it.

I'm not sure why but i've seen a lot of sifu's saying that.
I shall call my ceefoo [ laugh.gif ] to clarify.

That's my thermal paste. Izzit supposed to be this way? I've get better result using the stock thermal paste that comes with my big typhoon.
That's the Thermalright Chill Factor.
Thermalright Chill Factor isn't a real performer.

You should've bought either Arctic Cooling MX-2 or Tuniq TX-2.
Those two are the real performer.
