Interesting, so far s&p has posted fastest 30% drop from peak in just 22 trading days. 2nd, 3rd and 4th fastest frop all occur during great depression. The 5th fastest drop happened during 1987 which was not accompanied by recession.

DJIA 5th best gain percentage wise, the first 4 all registered during great depression. Similar gain also seen during october 2008 only to bottom in march 2009

Well if you have to prove it then it is not automatic. However only applicable to sme and individual.

US unemployment, 4.4% vs 3.8% expected and to top it off the data is only up to 12th march which exclude the last 2 weeks where unemployment claim soars
