QUOTE(billy_overheat @ Jul 11 2021, 09:00 PM) we are in the low-interest environment and everyone's looking for every possible way to make use of the ringgits/dolar, which interest affects every region/country differently. what asset classes are you holding to mitigate the risk? commodities, metals, property, crypto? For the bad case scenarios, I keep a % of my portfolio in USD. |

QUOTE(Seth Ho @ Jul 17 2021, 08:06 PM) Just learning about stock market. I was wondering if there is market crash or recession would it affect the Tech Stock industry? Recession is bad for all stocks..As i think many people maybe have no money to buy electronic items sales drop therefore malaysia tech stock will be affect or the other way round tech stock price increase as people use it to hedge market crash but the risk is very high. But since markets are forward looking, it can also be great investment opportunity. |

QUOTE(ChAOoz @ Jul 19 2021, 01:31 PM) Yup, taking the hits. Ive more or less provision for around 30% portfolio lost for china tech after my last round of average down. That is worse case. Now im sitting at around 15% negative from total. Looking attractive... Looking to add this week.Still like what im seeing from china technology push but regulatory risk is there. |

QUOTE(Boon3 @ Jul 19 2021, 03:41 PM) Emm... you know I don't look at index charts... The counter argument is that the current regulatory intervention is short term negative but long term will make the sector more sustainable. Those tech stocks are hit for a reason beyond them.... which destroys whatever fundamentals it has.... so how you even attempt to put an value on it? but then on the other hand... I am a kampung fella la... so whatever I say... err... probably has its flaws.... China tech adoption is not turning back n will continue to grow. In addition, the push to reform from manufacturing export economy to one of domestic consumer services will also continue. These are long term trends and bullish tech sector. Of course that's the bull story la.. It could be bs also. I won't be refinancing my house n putting into China tech. This post has been edited by Cubalagi: Jul 20 2021, 02:07 PM |

QUOTE(Avangelice @ Jul 20 2021, 03:08 PM) That's thing. Are they suppose to give it to me based on the number of shares I have? Am I suppose to buy these shares or do I buy the mother share and they give me an x amount? Rcps is separate from ordinary shares. Rcps is usually done via a placement exercise. As investor u subscribe and pay for the rcps. Usually you don't get it for free like a bonus or entitle to subscribe like a rights.Sorry for the silly questions as this is the first I come across it in this 5 years of investing stocks. |

QUOTE(chromatino_hex @ Jul 21 2021, 09:30 PM) I would like to ask, is anyone here approved to short-sell on Bursa? I've done extensive due diligence and have a very strong conviction in shorting one of the companies here (I promise it is not related to tech or gloves - will post my research once my account is approved). Any experienced short-seller here with share borrowing privileges apart from IDSS? How much net asset value do you need to maintain? I don't think there is any broker in Malaysia that offer RSS to retail investors.Which brokerage firm is the most friendly to retail short-sellers? How much is the fees and which firm gives the longest time to cover? Because I am planning to build a long-term short position. They only offer IDSS, which is currently suspended. |

QUOTE(chromatino_hex @ Jul 21 2021, 09:44 PM) This is testament to the fact that equities market on KLSE is completely RIGGED. You can't short. Everything you buy gets inversed by your broker (especially low volume stocks). Your only options are overpriced call/put warrants that never move Brokers don't offer RSS to retail, but some do offer RSS to institutions. So there is shorting in bursa (other than Idss) , otherwise AVFAN won't be so busy... 🤣. But only the big international boys do it for the most part. The reason for these brokers is simply $$$$. They think there is not much demand to do RSS by Malaysian investors for them to put in the necessary infra to make such an offering. Malaysian brokers are stingy buggers who prefer to do tried and tested business. Malaysian retail not really interested to short. And 99.9% of Malaysian institutions also don't short.. QUOTE(icemanfx @ Jul 22 2021, 04:10 PM) It seems recent volume of banking transactions in some branches have dropped by over 50%; almost zero hp purchase, low housing loan approval, etc. My real estate agent neighbour is driving grab part time.My Car SA friend had 0 sales for nearly two months. I won't be suprised retail loan applications had dropped. This post has been edited by Cubalagi: Jul 22 2021, 05:45 PM |

QUOTE(Boon3 @ Jul 24 2021, 10:20 AM) U very active this morning...i was just reminiscing on the "good old days". 🤣OK to add a more constructive stock comment... Last year Bursa (1818) and brokers like Kenanga (6483) had a bumper year in terms of revenue as new money caused market volumes to surge to record high. Is this like the glove story as well? Will Bursa market volumes normalize to pre-covid levels or will volumes remain elevated as now more ppl are "hooked" on the stock market. |

QUOTE(ChAOoz @ Jul 24 2021, 10:09 AM) All chinese tech stock sinks as china considering turning tutoring sector into non-profit. China gov has final say in everything and non challengeable. While US market rises to an all time high. Divergence is getting even more pronounce now in terms of valuations between China and US big tech QUOTE(Boon3 @ Jul 24 2021, 10:19 AM) when a govt interfere, throw valuations into the longkang already..... Shenzen Composite is still near record highs.. These are the mid, small tier Chinese tech companies that could benefit if the big guys falter.it's pointless... cause we do not exactly what they will do, when they will do and how big they will do it... don't simply fight when the odds are totally not in your favor. |

QUOTE(Boon3 @ Jul 24 2021, 12:54 PM) Else you get some coming out of no where and keep saying this thread is mati.... hehehe... and thanks for your comments I know Bursa gets its income from trading volume and last year was record year. That's what triggered my wondering lah.. Is the lack of discussion on this thread a leading indicator of lower volume in the future, hence lower dividend.. |

QUOTE(joeblow @ Jul 26 2021, 09:35 PM) Be careful with China Tech. Words have it China will continue to force delisting of China tech shares so that they will list in HK or SZ. Devaluing the value now makes it cheaper to delist. Again no one know, if you believe the fundamentals good. A lot of bank view (via Unit Trust fund managers) also see long term upside. But if you buy China stocks listed in US, I don't know what happens if they delist. Forced to buy your share at the price being delisted? I think China prepping for military conflict..Also I don't quite get the logic for China to shut itself out of US market funding... hurt itself to get US to compromise? Since US also hurting big time as a lot of US funds invested in those shares. |

QUOTE(lowya @ Jul 30 2021, 07:56 AM) Bursa always trade higher PE than financial like banks. It's a monopoly business in the country. Very different business model. U need to compare bursa to the likes of SGX or HKEX. Boon3 liked this post
