QUOTE(nauticat99 @ Mar 28 2024, 12:38 AM) That is true for single-tier system where tax is already deducted before it reaches our hands. But I recalled there is a withholding tax for reits. Correct me if I am wrong https://www.comparehero.my/investment/articles/cons-of-reitThe reason it is called witholding tax is because it will be "witheld" before it reaches our hands. I checked my REIT statement just now, it's a tax voucher as well, the tax is already deducted and it is stated as such. You can give your accountant the tax voucher for record purposes but you do not have to pay additional tax on it.

QUOTE(latte_flack @ Dec 2 2024, 07:19 PM) Hi, newbie here just venturing into stock... Can someone advise me, when would be the right time to sell? Once you make certain %? Or just keep to enjoy the dividents? I have small amount (rm500-700) in 99smart & skhawk so far. Skhawk has 30% return so far and speedmart 5%. Each time i transact, I pay rm10fees. Are these shares worth to keep for long term? Or shd I sell and buy others? If buy others, how to determine which one? Not going towards Maybank yet as the price is very high, saving up for it... Any advice would be greatly appreciated... Thanks I suggest you read up properly on stock investing and the types of strategies. For such small amounts it might be better to invest in a robo advisor and forget the headache of actively monitoring your stocks. If interested can read up on value investing, dividend investing, growth investing, contrarian investing and trading (such as momentum trading). When you want to sell depends on why you bought which depends on your strategy. If you bought for dividend then keep and enjoy the dividend, if you bought for capital gain, what was your target (if trading). For stock investment minimum should invest 3k and above per stock each time, or else the fees are too high. You invest 700 and pay RM 10 fee each time is 1.4% when buy and 1.4% (can be more or less) when you sell. Get some proper financial education first then come to stocks.
