We are not in London la. Liverpool area is not known to be a wealthy area.. It is a blue collar area so the price hike is really hurting them. More and more people there start to support non-league clubs instead.

Can't stay that kind of mentality liao bro. Eventho we are not in metropolitan area. We still need to maintain our status. It's call branding. We are 5 times CL winners, 18 times league winner. how can we share the same level like sunderland?

Well, if that is the way (by charging more), soon Anfield will be filled with plastics fans oblivious to the Liverpool Way...

if u look at the table properly...
most of LFC season ticket holders bought the most expensive one...still paid more than what some london teams like chelsea fans do whistling.gif
the only other team whos fans paid more than LFC are arsenal fans, simply cos their cheapest is still so damn expensive.

Honestly, I don't blame the fans who are taking this course of action to make a point.

Though perhaps probably in FSG's POV, it's to recoup back some >300million (it was 370m) splurged on (generally) mediocre signings. Sorry it's sound terribly harsh but also look, before the >300mil, there was an another outlay of over 100mil of going relatively (generally) brit players for his predecessor. While not all were duds, only a less than handful could even walk on the carpet that a team assembled and struck fear in oppositions heart.

FSG did say when they came, they knew little football of the land and trusted the club with their money vault. Liverpool management (directors and the core trustees) after rafa's managerial tenure wanted to pursue domestic players after years of diversity foreign buys. Alright I won't go back to rehash those debates but that we all knew what happened and was cemented as a blip.

There new ticket pricing structure came about even after discussions with several of the local Liverpool supporters groups broke down. FSG appears to not heed the recommendations of the supporters (groups).

I hope this doesn't distract the current players and Klopp. The last thing I want is outside distractions creeping into the players minds like what happened to Rafa's final years.

In the beginning many have pleaded that FSG isn't like G&H (who spent little for players buys in comparison what they dipped into Liverpools kitty instead, to pay the interest for the loan that financed the the owners greed).

Perhaps maybe FSG isn't G&H after all over 470million (players transfer under 2 manager) and more money (figure not disclosed from my understanding but it won't chicken feet numbers) to redevelop the stadium and properties around Anfield (needed for the stadium extension)

Hopefully both the owners and fans reach some realistic compromise.

FSG aren't the oil sheiks, there were never as rich, though given the problems of the oil prices, that's too gonna hurt those oil owners (if not now, but it will eventually if I might say)

I would like to think we can ride thru this if fans can come to a reality check

Can't help but feels that Klopp might become the victim from all these. Owner does not entirely back him by increasing the ticket price and supporters leaving ground early to protest. This will further the gap between supporters and the club. It is not healthy.

I agree with you. Hardcore supporters will stay away and in comes the new plastics fans who might be there just for being there.

Yeah, I hope the controversy ( the ticket thingy issue) don't divide & create the distance

It will cause a rift definitely. I too was spectical of FSG at first but who wasn't after what G&H dicked us in the past.

But with the stadium extension in abouts coming into reality instead of just on paper and some PowerPoint dreams... And we have Juergen Klopp whom there are big names clubs who definitely would love to have in their club.

I can't say FSG has done everything right all the time, but they HAVE walk the talk on the two things that stick out sorely in the past (I mentioned above)

Let's be honest, I know Klopp will right the wrongs of Liverpool squad, I can only hope he isn't dragged n embroiled into the club vs fans tussle.

If the success on the pitch does come back regularly, the fans may and should come into realization FSG is into a long haul together with Liverpool.

Fingers crossed

This is so true. And it is scary at the same time. I think FSG could do with hiring a local lad who knows LFC inside out and put him high in the hierarchy. But I doubt they will. I can only hope Klopp has enough influence in him to change few things in LFC. We need his German culture here badly. Bundesliga tickets are dirt cheap.

Sorry to say this but I am still skeptical about FSG. They are after all Americans and they are businessmen first and foremost. They need a better advisor to consult them on football matter here at Liverpool; someone who can actually make a decision. Having said that, I am glad they got us Klopp. That is one hell of a signing.

I have a more simple view,

midtable manager bought midtable players, assembled a midtable team, that ended up at midtable...

It is not necessary to buy proven or top players in EPL to be success in EPL, as some good managers can unearth some gems, just like how Houllier brought in Hyypia, Rafa brought in Alonso, Mascherano,

It is about eagle eye of manager.

For every Hyypia, there will be a El Hadji Diouf. For every Alonso, Mascherano, there will be a Jan Kromkamp/Josemi. tongue.gif

I am not undermining Houllier or Rafa. But the fact is there will be a certain risk with every single signing. The risk will be lower if the manager has an eagle eye and have a solid scouting team. And I will always prefer us going for foreign talent with minimal fee rather than overrated and overpriced Brits.

At least the team had Hyypia, Alonso, Mascherano before that winning some trophy before.

But midtable manager signed none as above players, and won no trophy, even with transfer money of nearly 200 mil over 3-4 season.
